    I used to get so depressed because I kept trying Instagram and RUclips tutorials as my influence on how I should do my makeup and it was always awful and cakey and so heavy. I could never understand how everyone else could be flawless and I'm just bleh. So I started doing this technique minus the translucent powder (by the way going to try translucent powder tomorrow) and my whole life has changed. I don't look cakey nor heavy. My face breathes and it just looks like my skin. My eyes dont crease whatsoever and my face just looks youthful. This is literally the best technique for everyone. Even myself with extremely dry, sensitive, acne covered, red skin. It's just amazing!

      Do you mind sharing what you thought with using the powder like in Wayne’s video? I’m curious to know.

    • @MetaltGoddess
      @MetaltGoddess 6 лет назад +4

      Of course. So I still do this technique with my Tarte Shapetape or my Tarte Maracuja Creaseless concealer. The same way you see Wayne Goss but because I tend to have really dry skin in the winter and combination in the summer. I put my translucent powder on my nose and boy do I use a lot on my nose, I use a comfortable enough under my eyes because just like Wayne I don't like to bake and I use a comfortable amount on my chin because I touch my chin a lot through out the day and the powder just makes sure that whenever I do touch my chin, my makeup stays on my chin and not to transfer anywhere else. This leaves my skin looking like skin. I don't feel like a cakey mess and I can go throughout my day without feeling like a failed Instagram makeup guru. It just looks flawless. Since this video though I purchased Morphe setting spray and it takes care of any cakey mess. I PROMISE! It's $12 and so much better than Urban Decay All Nighter. If I ever mess up and get cake face I use Morphe setting spray and it fixes it right up. I hope this helps.

      Me too! I was feeling awful trying to do my makeup like influencers. Wayne has definitely pointed me in a more healthful and happier way to use makeup. He's literally the only one i watch on RUclips anymore for serious advice. I watch a few others because I enjoy their personalities but Wayne is my only true guide.

    • @ItsDeniseRenee
      @ItsDeniseRenee 4 года назад +1

      The IG/RUclips guru's makeup is for looking good on camera (video/still photography). I've been learning from a few of them because what I did for everyday makeup didn't look good on camera when I started doing videos. But because that stuff looks awful in person, I'm going to try Wayne's technique for every day because it looks like it's perfect for real life.

    I'm 31 and I can't even remember when was the last time I have used foundation, and my bare skin is far from flawless. I only apply some of Maybelline Fit me concealer under my eyes and kind of stretch and blend it over my cheeks, a little bit on my T zone, around my mouth... and then I just set lightly with some powder and apply the blush, bronzer and I'm good to go :D
    It really does look so much better than any foundation I have tried so far.

    This is actually what I do when my skin is playing up. I've had an out break of rosacea and had the little spots this time and I found using concealer and powder better because it didn't cling to the dry bits, but when I it used my BB cream you could see all the bumps more prominently. And I find a brighter lippy helps to, red lipstick actually looks better on me when I've kinda flung my makeup on than making it perfect. It looks more relaxed and less intense but still packs a punch! xxx

    I love it. It looks so natural! There’s nothing sexier than ‘good skin’ and not looking ‘flat faced’ when all the colors on your skin have been obliterated by your foundation. Even if you add contour, blush and bronzer, if the foundation is too heavy and you don’t blend everything well enough, you’ll still have a paint by number unnatural look on your face. Thanks for this video. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!

    Thank you soooo much for this Wayne!!! I am 66 years young and have fairly decent skin with some mild hyperpigmentation that showed up on my lower cheeks recently. I hate wearing foundation because I have bad wrinkles on my forehead and around my mouth and chin that everything settles in them and I have tried a ton of different foundations without good results. I like to look put together and polished without the heavy made up look. Can't wait to try this. This might just be the answer for me!!! You're the best.. This is how I usually do my every day makeup. I will add a CC cream sometimes over concealer, and if I do that I use hardly any concealer. Just a dot in my eyelid, two dots under eyes, and spot conceal if necessary. Set with Coty or Maybelline powder and I truly look so youthful and glowy and I get so many compliments.
    I have slightly problematic skin- super oily, texture, big pores, and redness in the cheek areas. Looking at me with no makeup on one would assume I'd have to cake it on to cover my issues, but I don't. The techniques I've learned from you, along with my tweeks to fit my personal skin and ability has transformed the look of my makeup. Which in turn has transformed my confidence and self esteem.
    Oh, and I have the best tools available, Wayne Goss Face Set and The Collection 😄💜😘

    this is actually my routine! I just use concealer, I stopped using foundation about a year ago. I feel my skin is good enough without it, so I just cover my dark circles, red areas, blemishes. I use the Instant Age Rewind but I think a true liquid concealer like youre using would work better. :)

      LA Fresh Life I use Instant Age Rewind too, months ago my skin started to look terrible with any foundation I tried, huge pores, clingy some other places, dry patches, every line and little bump....no matter what I do or what foundation I used. So this is my routine now..... after a hell lot of moisturizer and spf

      I do this routine sometimes too and I also use age rewind to do it. Age rewind is a true liquid concealer. It's just in a different applicator/container. It is the same thing liquidy consistency of my other liquid concealers though. So if you have been liking it, no need to switch. I love the way it looks on me.

      Yes, it’s fun to do up makeup for a night out, but day-to-day when you’re young, most people look fantastic with just a good diet, sleep, and exercise. And a bit of powder and such. Not a face full of makeup for everyday.

    Even with papulopustular rosacea, this is my favorite way to apply makeup. I cover what I need to cover and let the rest of my skin shine through. I hate feeling like I’m wearing a mask with full coverage foundation or just any foundation all over for that matter. This is so much more comfortable! Super quick with NARS soft matte and a beauty blender and I especially love it with your #16 brush.

      Becky Entrup what do you consider mature? Just curious if I would fit in to it. But I would love to see it done on a model. The older I get, the less makeup I can wear. The old way I used to wear makeup makes me look way older now.

    • @bigmamaheckyeah8278
      @bigmamaheckyeah8278 6 лет назад +21

      I'm close to 50 years old. I agree with the less makeup. I don't look good without concealer, but I look worse with it. It settles into wrinkles (not lines). Ha ha. I prefer a BB or CC cream, with no powder. I don't like Matte for myself anymore. I just feel like I have different needs than 20 or 30 years olds, and would like a tutorial geared more to my age range.

      Becky Entrup ha ha same here especially about the concealer!! I’m 40 I still use powder only because I’m an oily mess and get dewy no matter what in about an hour. But yes I love that natural skin look more than matte on other people. I know I can’t wear any of the 10 lbs of makeup these RUclipsrs are wearing these days. I think allot of people would really enjoy a tutorial like that, on a model though, not on Wayne lol.

      Antonette Allen oh for sure. When I say a “model” I just mean someone Wayne can put makeup on besides himself. Someone with similar issues that mature women have and try to work with. So “a model that’s an every day mature women” is what I meant. 😊

    Foundation and anything basically liquid does not like my skin and that doesn't really bode well with my dry skin so what I end up doing is putting on an Olay moisturizer and it costs a lot for little product, but it works for me after having tried alternatives. Then after it dries, my face feels more hydrated so I use a very pigmented powder like Covergirl to cover up any redness and any blemishes that are on my face. I use blush and highlighter. I'm not a eyeshadow girl so I don't do that, but I do fill in my brows and they're already bushy so I only fill in the sparse spaces. Then I curl and put on mascara and I put on whatever lipstick I have. I've found that whatever foundation I use, it just cakes up my face and accentuates my fine lines and flaws and cracks and I'm obviously not going to go out like that. It's just more natural! xx

      I thought I was the only one whose skin does not like liquid makeup!! It’s not my whole face thankfully, but in certain areas it cakes up no matter what I do to prep the skin or what product I use!! Even professional MUAs can’t get it to work. I have exfoliated chemically, tried so many products & gone to a few Dermatologists to make sure my skin was ok. Basically no one knows why. It’s nice to know someone else has the same issue!!!

    • @ilm9682
      @ilm9682 6 лет назад +2

      Exactly! I've exfoliated my face multiple times for years now, but it's never going to change how my foundation reacts to my dry face whether it's light coverage or a bb cream or an expensive Chanel foundation... they are all the same with my face. It's come to the point where I just accept it and find alternatives because I feel like the foundation will just make my skin even worse than it already is.

    • @cmgblue
      @cmgblue 6 лет назад +3

      Marla , same! I used to be able to use liquid foundations, but now they look extremely heavy and accentuate issues on my face that I didn't even knew I had! I've moved onto powder foundations and it works so well for me.

    I'd just like you to know that I watched this video in 4K, FULL SCREEN, and you still looked AMAZING!!! You've almost convinced me to buy makeup again, even though I haven't had a full face of makeup on in more than 15 years! I'm going to be 56 this summer and even on my best day in my 20s I was never more than "cute." But my face is a totally different shape now! It used to be round, but as gravity has had its way with me and my subcutaneous fat has left me, my face has become more heart shaped, my eyes have become hooded and my brows, lips and lashes have all but disappeared. Still, even without a hint of makeup, I look younger than half of the women my age that I know. Just using Neutrogena Foaming Face Wash nightly (with a Buff-Puff twice or thrice per week) and the original Oil of Olay (I call it Oil of Old Lady!) seems to work well for me, and it's cheap!

    I'm almost 55 and I have done this technique in the past on "good" skin days. I like it actually. I even have mixed concealer in with a moisturizer and have my own BB cream. then focused on small areas. My eyes mainly. I think as we get older it's a perfect way not to look cakey. Oh by the way, I'm old school to with the blush. Always have been. My pale skin comes alive then. :) You makeup tips are always spot on.

    Hi Wayne, I've been binge watching your videos today! I've always loved that your approach to makeup is about being able to see real skin. I use Chanel Sublimage Le Teint Foundation because it is light-medium coverage and I can still see my skin; it's the most low-maintenance foundation I've been able to find for [dry] Minnesota winter. The $135 price isn't the best, but time is money, and this foundation saves me alot of time [during application and throughout the day/night]! Best regards to you from USA 😊 🌎

    Thank you so much Wayne for continuing to teach us with tutorials that really help. Thank you for not doin those ridiculous challenges, like “Mixing 100 foundations, let’s see how it looks”. How does that help someone subscribed to a beauty channel? Yes it can be fun but when those challenges take off, every YT is doing it and it’s everywhere and overdone. We actually learn things from you every single time you upload and I want to say how much we all appreciate that. And yes, your skin looks gorgeous in this video. I wish i can to the stage where I can do my makeup like this. I have horrible acne prone skin with years of scarring. I detest wearing makeup because I feel like I'm using it as a way to hide all my imperfections. Its at that point where its a chore rather than something I want to do. I just wanna enjoy being able to get away with a little bit of concealer and powder and fall in love with doing my makeup again.

      I have acne scars all over my face and can still pull off something similar to what he is doing, I just use full coverage foundation instead of concealer. I put a bit of foundation on my nose, chin and forehead and blend away to nothing. Then I use the foundation undiluted and tap it in with my finger tips over the scarred areas I'm most uncomfortable with. The scars towards the outsides of my face and around my jawline only get the coverage (if any) from the diffused small amount of fndtn I used at the first step. I powder a lot with Coty Airspun Extra coverage afters. My skin looks SO much better at the end of this but I hardly put any product on.

I put mascara on, a lip tint on & a little bronzer. A few times I actually looked in the mirror & thought I looked pretty good. I even went to Target 🤤! I have great skin but I still prefer to wear foundation. It just pulls everything together and complements the overall glam look. I just use a light hand and less foundation. That’s why it’s called foundation, lol it’s the bedrock of your makeup look. For outdoor sport activities I use a tinted moisturizer. I don’t like being without makeup either. And I have thick eyebrows and long lashes, yep still not going anywhere without makeup! And then there’s Saturday, “I’ll just do a natural look today”, twenty minutes later it’s full glam. I’ll tone it down when I’m older, maybe.
