    My Mother & Grandmother were Makeup Artists and what you just showed is some of the old school things I was told. As well I was told to dab only the remainder of what's left on the blush brush to each side of the high points of the forehead, the highpoint of the chin and lastly hardly anything to the tip of the nose. I use to think it was their way of contouring but it wasn't it was to give synchronicity to the total face. Funny I've never shared that in any comment, never heard any other MUA say it and I've always done it. Thanks for making me feel like maybe they did know a thing or two... lol. xo

    Adding blush to your eyelid works because you are mimicking the dilation of blood vessels, matching that colour in the cheeks to another zone where we naturally see the colour of our blood vessels through skin, the thin area around the eye. Weirdly good vasodilation is one of the keys to natural beauty lol. Blusher mimics healthy blood supply.

      Hooded eyes aren't that bad 😊 I have a slight hood all over which doesn't cover my lid completely but enough that bold eyeliner is not an option. I do a mix of Wayne's and Stephanie Lange's hooded eye techniques. Using the information they have, I have been successful at cut crease and even a Halo eye on a friend with extremely hooded eyes 😍 check out their hooded eyes tutorial videos. Have a good day.

      I also have hooded eyes. All you really have to change is that you bring the eyeshadow "up" vertically (towards the brow) in more of kind of an oval shape, rather than applying to only the lid part. That way, when the eye is open, you can see it

    When I was a teenager, the only makeup I applied was some eyeliner, mascara, and blush which I would also sweep across just above the crease of the eyelid because I have a large space there. I still believe just a little is complementary and makes the eyes look brighter. You are the only person I’ve ever known who does this, too!

    It kind of sucks that I have poor eyesight so I can't really see what I'm doing unless I look very close up on the mirror. My eyeshadow is never blended in or the same on each eyelid lol. How do people even do eye shadows with bad eyesight?? I give them props!

      Totally agree. I thought when I got contact lenses I would be able to start doing make up ( and go swimming etc) only to be given a massive list of things not to do while wearing them and of course that includes putting them in before doing make up. I gave up on contacts and on makeup in the end. I can't see myself anyway so why should I care 🙃. Makeup tutorials are fascinating though.

    Could you talk about placement for hooded eyes? And, could you talk more about shadow colors for specific eye colors? I have the 2nd rarest eye color: light blue ring around the pupil with light true green iris. I used to think my eyes were just green, but then an eye doctor explained why my eyes seemed to shift in color was that blue ring sometimes increases. I've had makeup artists at some places (Sephora, Mac, Ulta) who say I should never wear green on my eyes. But, I love the vibrant, jewel tone color green. It seems difficult to find shadow colors that pop my eye color while still remaining true to my middle-aged, professional look. Thank you for your channel and videos! I learn so much from you. I recommend your channel to my friends, family, and college students.

    Question: why do people piss on using the old-fashioned sponge applicators???
    I still use them. I use them for packing on product, or for placing some product on my eye before blending with a brush.
    I’m 42, so I’m from the time when using these applicators was not looked down upon.
    So have I missed some important memo where the sponge applicator was crucified? What’s the problem with using them?
    Btw, still using your tips on hooded eye eye shadow placement, many many thanks.

    • @tialagno4748
      @tialagno4748 5 лет назад +11

      Lol.
      There's nothing wrong with sponge applicators , they even sell them in stores with longer handles .
      I think though it's just the least popular application tool.

    • @Call-me-Al
      @Call-me-Al 5 лет назад +4

      @@ocandro try a silicone "brush"/" sponge" applicator. Not the ones that are supposed to be alternatives to beauty blenders, but those that are supposed to be alternatives for eye-shadow brushes. Some of my eyeshadows are so much better with it than a normal brush (same intensity as with a finger except I can make far sharper lines/precise application), and it's more hygienic for your panned product (plus it wastes less!).
      The type of eyeshadows I have noticed work much better with silicone "sponge" applicatiors is those more metallic creamy eyeshadows that work much better with a finger than brushes.

    • @janhautala3971
      @janhautala3971 5 лет назад +1

      Anna K I agree. I just bought some long handled ones. They are great for packing on. You don’t use them like a brush.

      @themurrrr 5 лет назад +3

      It’s nice to hear I am not the only one!!!
      And yes, I use my fingers as well some times, tho I do need an alternative for that cuz when I have long nails, I end up not being able to reach.
      The silicon brush thingie mentioned sounds like a tool I need to go looking for!

      But an awful lot depends on your face and eye shape. I would buy a cheap palette that has lots of colours\shades and play with it. Apart from being great fun you will, honestly, find your colour scheme.
