I've seen various ppl discuss and demonstrate but don't explain why not to do something, or lacking in showing proper techniques or tips. So, Thank You for always taking the time to provide us with proper information.
This is so strange to see because most asian makeup artist do this even though they've never named it (especially Japanese). I think they developed this habit primarily because of the way asian eyes are.
Ruby Arias are you implying that is is not useful for Asian eyes due to their having an elongated shape already? No, the reason why Asian MUAs do this is because most (?) Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc eyes are mono-lidded instead of double-lidded, which means there is no crease to work with. As such, this would be a way to enjoy and create eyeshadow looks without depending on crease work.
Watching this on my huge t.v today instead of my phone - what a massive difference it makes. Wayne, you’re awesome. Thank you for teaching us over 40’s the tricks we need for hooded/aged eyes and mature skin x
I decided to get the book...I will definitely try this...I think this will be challenging with my mature hooded eyes...but I am up for it. Thank you for fantastic content that is informative and realistic
I want to know how people can put all this make up in the corners of the eye and have it stay there for longer than 5 minutes? Seriously. Because when I do that the stuff is gone because my eye waters just a slight bit, or the stuff turns into an eye glob and I have to swab it out.
I get the same thing every time I line my waterline. I've tried to do it for...well I'm old now, so, forever. Some of us just have watery or oily eyelids and it repels makeup!
I prime my eyelids with concealer...same as underage. Then apply fine powder on lid and under eye and let it bake. Then I apply my eye makeup. The oil gets absorbed and it lasts all day.
Expertly applied with gentle directions on the steps in order to recreate this look at home, from beginners to the experienced-thank you! Token Eskimo here with naturally almond shaped eyes that are becoming more hooded with age & disappear when I smile from my high largesse cheekbones. It's nice to have a noticeable effect in my eyes that's still somewhat subtle. I noticed that I've been using these same techniques, shades with the exception to purples since the mid-90s. As always, a pleasure & a joy to see you at work, sharing your thoughts & talents (especially when you're breaking in someone's technique you've included into your own :-) Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!
Wayne, I have very large, very round, somewhat deep set eyes and I can confirm this absolutely does not work on me lmao I would appreciate your tips for round eyes!
It's probably not working due to the deep set eyes. You're lucky you still have prominent eyes apparently. I can do so little work eyeshadow; it either looks super weird or clumsy or makes me look scary skeletal. Best case scenario: you don't see half of the makeup. Then again: I rarely see people with the same deep set eyes I have - all around and with major shadows.
@@misssunnydee I understand what you are talking about, I can very rarely use anything darker than midtone eyeshadow on the lid or crease because it sinks my eyes and makes me look like a skeleton... Unless I am looking for that I have to stick to lighter colours
@@TheBerylfly Exactly! I rarely use darker shadows, but then only on the outer V. The inside and the middle always need to be mid and light tones (&shimmers). Same for the crease: I can only use slightly darker than skintone colours there or I make it worse. I hate that cause I like purple and green and bronze and dark grey on my hazel eyes (and it would fit my clothing), but I can only work with stupid light neutrals, unless I use a little bit of eyeliner in a colour.
I agree. Round eyes as well and cat eye makeup just looks a bit draggish bc I have all these round shapes (including my lower lash line when not smiling) and this harsh makeup lines! I basically do all of this with more rounded and softer shapes and it works. It’s an awesome technique and likely works with most eyes. I used to this this before I figured out what was most flattering. If I ever do an angular eye look, I keep it simple and doe eyed a bit... like a bit of shimmer on the lid and a thick wing. I do love to use this technique for Smokey eye looks.
@@TB-rx1ue I have round eyes as well and so this looked silly on me and trying to draw the straight line at the bottom when your eyes are very curved is really difficult! When you say you soften the look do you mean you follow the undereye curve more? This is the bit where it just looks wrong on me with the straight-ish line! I can make the top half work because that's the placement I always use for darker colours on my eye.
I've been following some Russian/Eastern Europe artists and they use this technique so well, their makeup is mindblowing beautiful ! Thanks to you Wayne (& Rae) I can see now how it's properly done !! *many lightbulbs flashing over my head ATM* Love you SO MUCH
You have the best tutorials: focused on a single technique, detail on what you are trying to achieve and why, and always approachable. I feel like so many channels show the same look in their tutorials time and again but with different colors. If more channels took your approach tutorials would be more popular again.
I value your tutorials and respect your content so much. This is my go-to eye makeup look, but you showed me how to perfect the technique. Now I can tweak the fundamental details that maximize the effect by connecting specific dots. You're a great teacher and a joy to watch. Your eyes have so many beautiful colors in them as well, it is so pleasing to see the technique used on your eye!
This technique is something I always do! I don't use a pencil, I only use shadow. My eyes are hooded and a little deeper set, so I have very little space on the lid when my eyes are open. Doing a "crease shade" doesn't work. It looks like I used one shade on the eye when my eyes are open. Doing this technique makes my eyes look bigger and longer. It also shows off the lid shade instead of covering it. Thank you for showing this! I haven't seen anyone else do this technique online!
This has COMPLETELY changed my eye makeup game. Thank you for explaining it so simply. It seems counterintuitive, but the result is a big open eye and a great crease. I never understood why I had such problems with my hooded eyes, and now I can embrace them and highlight my best feature! Thanks Wayne.
Wayne, I agree 100%. I’ve worked on women with very deepest eyes, and I tend to focus more on emphasizing and framing the mobile lid to bring it forward.
wow, 3 months ago I started shading my outer corner bottom eye with brown colour for work and found it suits my eyes really well. Then I found this, certified by a make up guru. :) thank you
I love Rae Morris & the way she thinks (plus she’s Aussie!). I was reading some of her tips & she was talking about women 35+. She said that all of the places we age first & worst are the same places that we tend to highlight/decorate with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, even eyeshadow, lipstick etc. She also touched on the fact that we put perfume, ie. drying alcohol, on our necks/décolletage when we should be avoiding drying products in those areas. I’d never thought of it like that! It seems kinda silly when you think about it! Lol.
Wayne, when you have found the lowest point on the bottom and drawn the line where do you know when to stop the line at the outer corner in other words how far do you take it?
I think where the two lines would meet. Say you kept drawing the bottom all the way up and the top all the way down... the two will eventually meet, its there that you’d stop. Maybe draw the lines longer the first time to get the placement right, then you’d get the idea. That’s what I took out it anyways..
Couldn’t appreciate you more. You consistently gift us with highly valuable tips & you deliver them in the most honest & truly lovely way. Thank you so very much. ✌🏼🌸🧡

I so appreciate this "breakdown" of the steps to a feline eye. Wayne, you are an artist, there is no doubt, and you are also a fantastic teacher. Thank you.

I love your tips and tricks, Wayne. You explain everything so that it's easy to understand. I enjoy trying out all your techniques. Much love and appreciation.
Try using a color that’s got cool tones, maybe more of a taupe than a true brown. I have the same problem. It’s too bad he didn’t list the pencil in the description box, I’ve seen a lot of people asking what it is.
This is a fabulous technique. The fact that there are only three points to use as reference is so simple. This seems just about about foolproof and easily replicable. I can’t wait to put this to use. Thank you!!
I’ve discovered you by chance and even though I failed terribly with this technique, I kept watching your videos not only for your knowledge but most of all for the wonderful way you look at life. Thank you so much.
You can use a more peachy-brown color that is lighter, that closer resembles your natural skin tone (but dark enough to be seen). You can blend the edges slightly, but make sure the shape is still there. Use a brown mascara instead of black. Tap a little shimmer across the eye to bring in more light to soften it.
I'm 55.....tried this technique and am shocked at how beautiful it looks. I wish I would have tried this YEARS ago. It makes a huge difference in the way my eyes look. I don't use the intensity that he does in this tutorial, but the effect is amazing. Give it a try with whatever shades suit you.
I’m 32, Sue, and don’t like this bold of a look either. I’m not into the dramatic glamorous look, more into natural. I want to ask him for advice on colors for green dominant hazel eyes on the small side and down turned.
I always learn something when I watch your videos! You are a really good teacher, you make things easier rather than needlessly complicating them. Really glad I found your channel.
I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS TECHIGN ... YOU MADEE IT LOOK SO EASY ,FOR YEARS I'VE TRIED THIS COULDN'T DO IT NOW I SEE WHAT TO.DO.. I WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT LIGHTER BECAUSE I HAVE BROWN EYES I MIGHT LOOK SPOOKY.. THAKS A MILLION.. I'M SUCH A DUMMY ON MAKEUP BUT LEARNED SO.MUCH FROM YOU..
I’ve already been doing this, whoa- I just do it because it resembles the crease and the shadows created by my lid and lashes. Then I just love shimmer in a sharper point in the inner corner. It’s also something I do when I’m painting or drawing, I follow this to make the face more dimensional in my portrait paintings. Just shows that this technique is really meant to accentuate the face naturally.
Been watching you for years and always love your explanations!!! This is a lovely technique I’ll be using soon to see how it turns out on my very hooded eyes.
Tried this technique and really love it. Thank you so much for giving such great info and making it easy to follow. Really like your personality. You make applying makeup fun again!
Thank you, Wayne (and yes, Rae Morris)! Been scouring for some time to find the proper way of doing my eyeshadow. I tried this technique on my type of eyelids. (I have a protruding/bulging type lid i.e prominent eyelids, yes? so usually a lot of area to cover lol) This worked out beautifully. Finally figured out where the crease should actually be and really elongated my eyes. Defused the size of my lids too.
Wow that is just wild! I have been putting on my eyeshadow that identical way since of my mid-twenties. I'm 55 right now rapidly approaching 56.. ugh. The only variation that I do is a very light drag through the crease of the lid. I just bring it over a little bit further than you did. Other than that, thank God I haven't looked stupid all these years lmao! Thank you again for a wonderful video 💙

They name this techique as "puppy eyes" :))
The only makeup artist who teaches makeup rather than only flattering his face and expensive products
I want to know how people can put all this make up in the corners of the eye and have it stay there for longer than 5 minutes? Seriously. Because when I do that the stuff is gone because my eye waters just a slight bit, or the stuff turns into an eye glob and I have to swab it out.
Nixie Knox primer helps tremendously, I have watery eyes too and I use primer + waterproof products and it’s much better!!
I get the same thing every time I line my waterline. I've tried to do it for...well I'm old now, so, forever. Some of us just have watery or oily eyelids and it repels makeup!
I don't know if you've tried it but Urban Decay Primer Potion is a miracle worker 💜
I prime my eyelids with concealer...same as underage. Then apply fine powder on lid and under eye and let it bake. Then I apply my eye makeup. The oil gets absorbed and it lasts all day.
Same happens to me hun...i just touch up about every hour in between who cares it's called the lived in look lol
As always, a pleasure & a joy to see you at work, sharing your thoughts & talents (especially when you're breaking in someone's technique you've included into your own :-)
Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!
Wayne, I have very large, very round, somewhat deep set eyes and I can confirm this absolutely does not work on me lmao
I would appreciate your tips for round eyes!
*many lightbulbs flashing over my head ATM* Love you SO MUCH
This is so genius 😍 you're truly the youtube makeup OG👑
I did this when I was younger, for a dramatic boozie nights out & never knew it was a lesson just loved the way it looked.Cheers Wayne, loved it xxx
Dang! I've been doing this "technique" forever. Had no idea it was a "thing". XXX ❤❤ XXX
Same I have small eyes so this technique (which I didnt know the name for lol) allowed me to make them bigger if you will love it though
Same here. I've been doing this, regularly, since 1996. I had no clue that this technique had a name. Cool!
@@gothic7821 I'm an old fart! Been doing it since around 1980 🙈🙈🙈xx
@@chrissymoss514 Fart? ...No, I think you misspelled, "Fabulous*." ;)
@@gothic7821 😂🤣😂. I love you 👍👍. XX
You have the best tutorials: focused on a single technique, detail on what you are trying to achieve and why, and always approachable. I feel like so many channels show the same look in their tutorials time and again but with different colors. If more channels took your approach tutorials would be more popular again.
Wayne, I'm a big fan of everything you! This was exceptional! Keep the great content coming! ☺️
I have been unintentionally doing this (minus the dots) it makes me look so lifted.
Your videos are always so unique and useful. Thank you 🙂
This has COMPLETELY changed my eye makeup game. Thank you for explaining it so simply. It seems counterintuitive, but the result is a big open eye and a great crease. I never understood why I had such problems with my hooded eyes, and now I can embrace them and highlight my best feature! Thanks Wayne.
I simply adore you and your incredible content
Thank you 🙏🏼💚
This is why i respect him so much...his explaination are so detailed and easy to understand..
Best part of video: Gold ring on Wayne’s left hand! 😍 Congratulations!!!
Beautiful eye technique
Emmy Bee He has been wearing a gold ring for yeeeears on his left hand. Like all the way back to 2011

Wayne, I agree 100%. I’ve worked on women with very deepest eyes, and I tend to focus more on emphasizing and framing the mobile lid to bring it forward.
10000% yes!
You look adorable in that shade of pink!
wow, 3 months ago I started shading my outer corner bottom eye with brown colour for work and found it suits my eyes really well. Then I found this, certified by a make up guru. :) thank you
Wayne, what color and brand is the pencil? I don't do well with black and that color looks great! Thanks for the demonstration.
Lol.
Wayne, when you have found the lowest point on the bottom and drawn the line where do you know when to stop the line at the outer corner in other words how far do you take it?
you can use your eyebrow as a guide. you can see in the video he stopped at an angle aligned with the tail end of his eyebrow.
I think where the two lines would meet. Say you kept drawing the bottom all the way up and the top all the way down... the two will eventually meet, its there that you’d stop. Maybe draw the lines longer the first time to get the placement right, then you’d get the idea. That’s what I took out it anyways..
Thankyou to you both for your reply, will have a play.
Stop at the crease?
Daphne I don’t understand how the upper line of shadow connected to that tiny mark on the upper lash line!
Couldn’t appreciate you more. You consistently gift us with highly valuable tips & you deliver them in the most honest & truly lovely way. Thank you so very much. ✌🏼🌸🧡
such a charming, sweet, handsome, truly lovely man in every way! Love your videos. Your kindness always comes through.
I love Wayne's tutorials. He always makes it so easy to understand and replicate!

I love you. Always returning to you because you are a true expert. Nowadays way too much info everywhere on social media.. everyone looking exactly the same.. but i come here to clear everything and focus on REAL knowledge, and to know what suits “me”
Thank you so much fir showing us the step by step, super informative and helpful 🙏🏽
Thank you so much you are absolutely my favorite makeup artist on RUclips. Your honesty and genuine way of conveying your message its so comforting!!! You make me feel like I can do anything with makeup. I cannot wait to try your new palette and eye pencils!!!! Thank you for being here and being you!
I'm just a mere sponge soaking up Your knowledge
Fabulous tutorial as usual. Am having surgery on my upper lids to remove my hoods in April. I will be glued to your tutorials with renewed zeal. My hooded eyes turned me of doing my eye makeup. Love your channel xx
Totally trying this out tomorrow!! Could be super cool for belly dance performances 😊😊
Thank you Wayne! 💕💕 I love Rae’s technique and I have used it for my aging hooded eyes since her video a few years ago. Your demonstration is spot on and very easy to understand. Brilliant!!
Thank you xx
I attended one of her Masterclasses not long ago - she is incredible!! ♥️♥️♥️
Your an excellent expert professional makeup instructor. When I watch your videos I truly feel like I can finally step my makeup routine to the next level. Thank you
Wayne being wonderful and perfect as always.
Lots of love from Venezuela
I so appreciate this "breakdown" of the steps to a feline eye. Wayne, you are an artist, there is no doubt, and you are also a fantastic teacher. Thank you.
Will defo try and practise this! Thanks for sharing! 💖
I’ve been trying for almost a year to figure out how to do this shape correctly on my eyes, and just got it on my second try after watching your video. You are the Makeup God! Thank you!!
Can you show us how to do Daenery's eyes that look so much bigger than Emilia's?
I love your tips and tricks, Wayne. You explain everything so that it's easy to understand. I enjoy trying out all your techniques. Much love and appreciation.
I just love this man with all my heart for theaching me how to do make-up on my hooded eyes
I have Rae Morris's book and I have struggled with mastering this technique! Seeing it in action helped me very much! Thank you!
I have been doing my eyes like this since I started wearing makeup when I was 14. I should’ve patented it haha
Same here. Been doing this regularly since 1996.
I love when you share technique with us mere mortals. Thank you Professor Goss!
What pencil did you use? I love that color. I am blonde/fair and most browns are too dark. Thanks :)
Try using a color that’s got cool tones, maybe more of a taupe than a true brown. I have the same problem. It’s too bad he didn’t list the pencil in the description box, I’ve seen a lot of people asking what it is.
This is why Goss has always been my favorite make up artist. Beauty, skill, personality. Some people just have it all
I did this today with purple eyeshadow. I dyed my hair bright red and figured I'd look like Jessica rabbit for the day. 🤗
This is a fabulous technique. The fact that there are only three points to use as reference is so simple. This seems just about about foolproof and easily replicable. I can’t wait to put this to use. Thank you!!
I love it! Really liked in the end where you give a big happy smile! Thanks for sharing your videos -- big hugs!
I’ve discovered you by chance and even though I failed terribly with this technique, I kept watching your videos not only for your knowledge but most of all for the wonderful way you look at life. Thank you so much.
I'd really like to see it done SOFTER; even just a couple still photos.
I'm 54 and am not going to do my eyes this extreme....
Sue Ludwig oh! I’m 58! I’m doing it that extreme! “Hold my 🍺 “🤣
@@kimhendley318 I like you 😂😂
I'm 55.....tried this technique and am shocked at how beautiful it looks.
Well....I currently look like a damn raccoon 👀 Fabulous..just fabulous!!
🤣🤣🤣
I've been subconsciously doing this for years 😆
me too, never knew it had a name
nitro bun Haha! You are a natural darling! 😃❤️
My older cousin showed me this technique back in 1999.
Been watching you for years and always love your explanations!!! This is a lovely technique I’ll be using soon to see how it turns out on my very hooded eyes.
Oy, I 🤬 hate the 🤬 piece of skin on the outer corner of my lower lashline.. grrrr..
I LOVE how you break down techniques in short videos.
Rae Morris? Oh bull. This goes back to Garbo, Twiggy, Streisand and Cher.
That looks incredible. Thank you for being an actual pro who teaches actual professional techniques
Wayne, thank you so much for sharing all this knowledge! The amount of learning that comes from your channel is invaluable!
