  • What is the best vitamin for dry eyes? Here I review the most popular dry eye vitamin supplement on the market and the research behind it. ///// Check out HydroEye amzn.to/3LP9hId
HydroEye from Science Based Health is probably the most famous dry eye vitamin on the market. This dry eye supplement contains black currant seed oil which has a larger amount of Omega-6 fatty acids and some trace amounts of omega 3s. This supplement also contains some other vitamins and minerals to help with dry eyes as well. The omega 6 in the black seed oil may help with dry eye by reducing inflammation and improving tear production.

Again a note : on the oils that naturally contains various vitamins : the vitamins AEDK are lipo-soluble and so every oil will have various amounts of those vitamins in them, and maybe some Bx . So the manufacturer of the products can either add some or just put on the label what the end product is found to contain.

Thank you for your informative video! I have a question. I have dry eyes for about 6 years and just started taking the weight loss pill phentermine last week. Although I've already lost 5 pounds, the phentermine pills are making my eyes very dry and sore. To combat the dryness, I've been using Thera Tears fish oil pills, drinking lots of water, and I'm adding electrolyte packets to my water. However, I'm beginning to worry that phentermine is too strong for my dry eyes. Do you think HydroEye would be a better supplement than Thera Tears? I want to lose a little more weight but not at the cost of harming my eyes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have MGD. I've been taking De3 for almost a year. I have noticed a help on my eyes, however, I decided to try Hydroeye to see if it would help more than De3. Lamentably it was not for me. When I started taking Hydroeye, immediately I got a huge constipation, like never before. Not sure if it was only a coincidence or if it was related to Hydroeye. My dry eye condition has deteriorated as well, so I will go back to De3.

Hi. I had a similar condition that I have been fighting since my early 30s. My eyes were so painful and red, with a continual goopy discharge. I almost couldn't work because it was so bad!
I saw multiple doctors and specialists, spent literally thousands on treatments and drops, but the one thing that has finally provided me relief was the steroid drop Lotemax. It has reduced my pain and discharge enough that I can function. I take it once a day every other day or so, and it helps keep the bad stuff at bay.
I was almost a recluse because I couldn't go out in the evenings - I just couldn't keep my eyes clear, and the pain was awful. I still get some annoying discharge in the evenings, but at least I can function. I'd say it's an 80% improvement!
Also, I have Sjogrens Syndrome, a very common autoimmune disease that definitely attacks the eyes. It might be worthwhile to get tested for autoimmune conditions. It helps to know what you're fighting.
I hope this helps! Keep doing your regular dry eye routine, but talk to your doctor about trying a steroidal drop. Maybe you'll find some relief, too. Best wishes for an improved quality of life!!

Thanks for addressing an important and complex topic. We need more research, but the current literature actually shows DHA to be at least as beneficial, if not moreso, compared to EPA in Dry Eye Disease. For instance, The Tuna Fish Study showed DHA to be correlated with reduction in DED and tuna has aout a 70/30 split between DHA/EPA. DHA also boasts more metabolites (via the LOX enzyme family), known as Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators than EPA (10 vs 3), which helps shut off the inflammatory trigger. DED is certainly an inflammatory disease! Overall, there is better evidence for EPA and DHA than omega-6 supplements in DED (noted in a recent Cochrane Library Systematic Review). You made a great point that when multiple ingredients are in a supplement, it can be challenging to determine what the acitve ingredient(s) really are. Wishing you the best!.

Chemically if you want to purify and only get the GLA or EPA or DHA it is both difficult and you may also loose part of what you want or make it rancid etc, very difficult without nasty additives etc. So to stay healthy they will prefer minimal treatments, and so the product will contain other things.

Had a hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries for large fibroids. at age 40. Never had issues with my eye or wear glasses. Ended up with. Bilateral right /left posterior detachments, blepharitis and dry eyes 6 months after surgery. The opthmologist said it was because of the sudden loss of hormones. Took HRT for 15 years. Didn't help. Had. Pain, burning, itching and flashing lights and headaches. Every time they altered the HRT, the detachment symptoms would play up and the dry eyes. I'm now 58, weaned off HRT 4 years ago. Still continue my lid hygiene for blepharitis and tears for dry eyes. Had no idear how. Vital hormones are for your eye health. Sometimes my eye balls were
Literally bouncing around in my head. Now I have cataracts
In my right eye. I'm frightened about having surgery in the future because of my other issues. Your videos are brilliant
Thank you for all the education
You give us. Shame they don't talk about the effects of your hormones and your eyes here in the UK 🇬🇧. Also, I was being treated for persistent conjunctivitis at first by the GP
And thank God I went to the eye doctor who diagnosed the above. He was very supportive. 😊

Uveitis is a pretty extreme level of inflammation. It needs medical treatment such as topical steroids for example. In addition, your doctor should be investigating into why you are developing a uveitis and if there are other systemic inflammatory conditions causing the uveitis.

For years I suffered with uveitis in both eyes, and was treated by an ophthalmologist with steroids. Then the flares stopped, and I haven’t had a flare up in over 4 years. The only thing I can attribute it to is a healthy diet.
I do suffer from dry eyes due to overuse of electronics. My optometrists recommended Hydroeye, and I think it’s helping as my use of artificial tears has decreased.

my dry eyes are related to my high histamine in my body. i have to take an allergy pill everyday use my drops. but what i figured out was for a few days i didn't have headache, sneezing so i didn't take my allergy pill which would counteract the histamine in me but my eyes got worse, so on the third day i couldn't take it anymore and took my allergy pill and it really helped my eyes. so after that figured out my dry eyes are related to the histamine in me and that i needed to try something different. still take my allergy pill everyday along with my drops which are Systane and Opcon (which is for allergies). but i was in a health food store and a young boy and grandmother came in and the boy said he started taking the local honey and his ears got better and they would pop meaning they would start to open up and this could be related to allergy problems. so i purchased the local honey and my eyes are feeling much better. they don't hurt nearly as much at the end of the day. i take about two teaspoons right now per day. i am very happy to have found something to help this really difficult problem. to explain how the honey works is that the bees process the local pollen into the honey and i in turn am essentially eating that pollen in a concentrated form counteracting the histamine. by the way when i went to the allergist and had the test only thing that came up was Histamine on my skin. my husband had the same test done and both of his arms were full of all kinds of things he was allergic to so he gets allergy shots. so i started the honey about two weeks ago and will continue to see if it will considerably make a difference in my red, dry eyes. so far they are feeling better, sorry this got so long.
