Thanks Bill and Ken for the history. I trained under the Colonel at the Whittington Center in 95 & 96 and began instructing with him there 97-99 and then at Gunsite in 2000. I visited with him and Janelle several times a year until his passing in 2006. Wonderful memories! Thanks again.

Great job Ken and Bill. Someone needs to keep the history alive or it will be lost forever. I was just a 18 or 19 year old kid back in those days. We lived in St. Joseph MO, there were several people who would travel to Columbia to shoot with the Midwest Practical Pistol League. Dick Thomas, Raul Walters, JW Kay, Larry Pottefield, Dale Puckett, Bill Wilson, Jim Joy, Gerald Duty, Ralph Steel, Ron Moser, Karl Armentrout, Greg Moats, Ray Chapman and all the rest were great shooters and good friends. They helped lead me down the pathway to a 35 year plus career in law enforcement and EMS.
Back in those days we would travel to matches every weekend. Life happened and I quit the competitive shooting game for 30 years. A few years ago I hooked up with an IDPA club in St. Joe. Got the bug again started shooting ICORE and USPSA at Higginsville and Columbia. I have the bug now start PCC next summer.
Thanks again for all the work you guys have done to expand this practical shooting sport.

Ken Hackathorn should write a book. It would sell and become a forever classic for shooters.

As a fellow "old dog" in pistol shooting, this is by far the coolest thing I've ever watched on RUclips. The only thing that even comes close is the video training series you guys did years ago. I'm still looking to buy another full set of those. Anxiously awaiting the next episode!

Who in their right mind who dislike a video of these to very intelligent men sharing the knowledge they have accumulated over their years in the gun community.

Thank you for reminding me of memories of those days. Grew up on reading Cooper's writings, and shot my first ISPC match at eighteen in 1982.

Wonderful history and I still have a Wilson Group Gripper, though it's no longer in a gun. Took the Gripper out and put in a match barrel that I fitted myself after reading Bill's book and Kuhnhausen's book.

Oh how I enjoyed that! Went to Mas Ayoob's LFI 1 with a Bruce Nelson cross draw (by Milt Sparks) and a Combat Commander in the late 80's. Remember API, as I was assigned to Davis-Monthan in later 1977 as a newly minted Lt. Thanks guys.

Awesome video guys! I really enjoyed it. I was wearing my (lightly upgraded) CQB full size in 45 as I watched it. Loved the info on Cooper. I thought it was pretty wild about 15 minutes in, when Ken talked about the crazy-unsafe things that a few guys did "back in the day", tossing 1911s! Thank God for the Four Rules. I am looking forward to the next episode in the series.

Ken, awesome to hear you talk about this stuff, as I was a kid at the time reading your stuff in the gun mags. You mentioned the Cooper Assault Course. Is it really true that Ross Seyfried could draw his 1911, place his left hand on top of the wall, and vault himself over? I've heard that in other places, but who would know better than you? Those days are definitely far removed from the modern IPSC game.

API 1985. From the old USMC quals, Coopers Modern Technique was a bucket of cold water in the face. I learned what a USGI 1911 could do. Served me well,

Bill and Ken, great job, and I'm looking forward to the next installment. But Bill, you're going to have to speak up, podnuh. I like Ken - I like him a LOT - but you and I both know that if you give him the bridle, Ken can talk the smile off a brass buddha. So jump on in there - you can always tell us the story about the goat and the nun. :)
Guys, I hope the next chapter comes out fast.
