Mom of four boys ages 23 - 17. Best advice is to work hard at constant communication and don't take anything personally. If they start talking, I drop everything and listen. Text, FaceTime, send funny memes. Have a family group chat. Be silly with them. I tell them "make good choices and I love you!" every time they leave the house or when I drop them off somewhere. For a long time, I wouldn't get a response to "I love you!" whether verbally or via text. As they get older, that changes. Treat them with patience, kindness and respect, but don't be their friend. Ok, I could go on forever, but just be there and be present.

I love this advice. Especially the drop everything and listen. I have a 21 year old son a 17 year old daughter and an 8 year old daughter. If I ask how their day was, they all say “good”. On their own time, they will tell me about specific things that happened during the day. I stop what I’m doing and give them eye contact and really listen. It’s at this time that I really get to have a great conversation with them.

Hi Michelle. Single mom to 2 boys 17 & 19. Best advice listen and teach them it’s ok to feel sad- mad- upset- embarrassed- disappointed etc. it’s ok to cry and have bad days. It’s ok to feel how you feel as a parent just listen and empathize. Next day they often are much better ❤ surprise them with a Starbucks or fav drink and have chat while driving home. Little things add up to bonding time ❤ love your Channel you are so motivating. Take care 🇨🇦

I have two girls. One is 23 and got married last year to a wonderful guy.The other is 18 and away at college. My best advice to raising teenagers,is always remember parenting is your job.You are not there to be their friend.YES! you are going to have rough times that you will think are never ending ,but BE THE PARENTAND NOT THE FRIEND. Plenty of time to be their friend when they are adults. Always make sure you know what is on their phone and laptop, keep a eye on who they are hanging around with, track them on your phone when they start driving but the most important piece of advice I can give you is pray every day and love them more then anything in the world!!!

36yrs old- Mom of 14 & 15yr old boys, raise them right before they are teens, and in the teen years be SUPER honest with them. Apologize when YOU need to, don’t be quick to anger if they mess up, guide them through it and help so they don’t try to hide things behind your back and everything will be okay 😊💕

As others have said dont try to be their friend but make sure to comminicate often. They usually come around as they get older. One thing that I wished I would have done differently is financially prepare myself for paying for college and also doing research earlier on around scholarships. College is expensive and I am not prepared. good luck😂

I have 4 grown children, and my best advice is constant low key communication. Also when they are telling you something stay neutral no matter what they’re saying. This gives you time to walk away and think before you respond 😊 they make great friends later on when you keep up constant interest in their life.

My advice is don’t listen to any naysayers when you have a deep feeling about your children. God gave them to us to raise so it is our responsibility.

Hello Michelle, we have one child, he’s 31, he’s been a good kid and a good man. We have always told him as long as he does the right thing, and respects our wishes ( of course when he was a child) we will give him all the liberties he wants, within reason, and doesn’t lie to us, he never let us down. At 18 he as allowed to stay out all night. ONE THING WE WOULD NEVER EVER TOLERATE WAS DRINKING AND DRIVING OR DOING DRUGS. Now some ppl may not agree, but I truly believe you need to find your own beliefs and wishes and follow them. I’m sure you will do a wonderful job.😊

I always watch before going to bed. So I’m not here t clean. I did enough of that last weekend. My daughter and son in law came on Monday and went home today. My other daughter ho lives close came over here to see them. And then my granddaughter’s who are older came after one of them got off work. So I had everyone here. So my house was clean before everyone came here. They left today and are back in Ohio. And I found out my daughter, who lives close is having a baby shower for my granddaughter. So that means we’ll have someone stay here next month. Which I don’t really mind. But it means I’ll be cleaning again before the end of next month. At least I get a break. You can buy little things to hold an extension rod up. I have them in my guest bathroom. I raised two daughters. And they were complete opposites. My oldest daughter was a royal pain. My youngest daughter was fine. The oldest one had a child at eighteen. And now she’s going to be a young grandmother because her seventeen year old daughter is pregnant. I became a grandmother at thirty eight. And I’m now a great grandmother at 64. And it doesn’t bother me a bit. And in a few months. I will be a great grandmother again. That doesn’t bother me a bit. I love my first great grandson. And I’m sure I will love my second great grandson. The second great grandson will live close. The first one lives a few states away. You just have to have kids that want to talk to you and don’t hate you. I think if you raise a child right, they will always respect you as a parent. I know my youngest daughter does. The oldest I still wonder about. She understands all the crap she put us through. And now she has one just like she was. That’s what my mom told me. I was kind of a wild child. But I was the youngest of seven. I had five older sisters. And I wasn’t allowed to do much. So I snuck around. And I did get one worse than me. And now my daughter is getting one not quite as bad as her. But she hates her dad and won’t talk to him. He is a bit much, and he’s bi-polar. So I don’t think he knows how to deal with teenagers. He’s done a terrible job so far. He had three other kids before him and my daughter got married. They all hate him too. And my oldest granddaughter had a different dad. So he wasn’t a good step dad either. The way it’s going by the time they all get to be eighteen, they may hate him too. I know I need to clean my house again. But the nose piece broke off my glasses. And I’m going to go get them fixed tomorrow and get a haircut. And go to the grocery for a few things. Which will mean more than what’s on the list. My husband usually goes. But since we’ll be out I’ll go too. And I always come up with more things to buy.

Mom to 19, 18,&17 year olds. I’d say remind yourself of what it was like to be a teen. Listen way more than you talk and lead with constant grace. Don’t be surprised when they mess up. It’s to be expected. They are trying to figure out who they are. They will struggle as will you as a parent. Admit when you mess up and ask for forgiveness. It really does wonders in your relationship.

So I am 38 and I know you said for me to ask a question but I can answer you on the teenagers. I have 4 kids . 3 are teenagers. You will find you way with them just like you did when they were babies, toddlers ect. My advice that I have learned is remember just cause they are taller and more mature and able to do things they couldn’t when they were younger, they are still developing. Their brains are still developing and hormones. I expect a lot of my kids but also give them grace and that has paid off. They come to me for advice and to vent about their problems. I’m not their friend but someone they know they can confide in. Most times they just want you to listen. Be patient with them. I try to think what did I want at that age. I still fail at times cause I am human but I strive to be patient, give grace when I can but also hold them accountable. It’s exhausting but so rewarding when you can see the fruits of your labor. Hope this helps 😊. Glad you got back to your faith that is awesome.

Hi Michelle, I would like to cheer you on in your precious relationship with God. YAY!
God is so very real. He is always waiting for an invitation to enter into your life and all we need to do is ask and of course He answered YOU because He loves you!
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock, If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
    -Revelations 3:20
I am who I am now because of the grace of God working in my life. To me a life well lived is not needing to compare my life with others or finding my value in my career or possessions and even in my children. After all, are all our great possessions really ours? Can we take them when we pass on from this life? A life well lived is with God. I told God I wanted my life to mean something not by the world's standards but with Him and that started as I fully emerged myself with God. I pray you never give up on God because He will never give up on you. Keep Him close always He is more precious than gold. May God bless you Michelle!
    P.s. remember,
I have loved you with an everlasting love.
    - Jeremiah 31: 3
