- Why I went k24 ... K24 swap has been one of my plans and goals for awhile for my 2007 Si, fg2. Here are 5 reasons why I went k24a2. Enjoy people.

Pretty much this. Love squaring up with traffic everyone has a heavy foot around here. I'm a loser off the line so take it easy in 1st second. It's on in third and I'm breaking loose.
Alotta people want to make the K20-K24 thing out to be some contest when it really shouldnt be about that. Its all about preference. Both motors make good NA power and are fun to drive, they just distribute their power differently.. A k24 is gonna be better for daily usage and boost, and a k20 is going to be better for an AutoX/track oriented car. Its why the Type R's and the S2K are such fun cars to drive at the track... Absolute dogs down low, but when you are up in RPM, they shine, and at the track, you are always in that upper RPM range. Doesnt mean the K24 is not a good track engine either, but K20's better breathing head is really ideal for high RPM.
Very well said. Seems like it’s a huge comparison, debate, continuously on which one is better than the other and why lol. Like, They’re both K series! 🤷🏼♂️ Both Motors have their sweet spots for sure. K24 for daily, hands down! K20 if you are racing a lot, straight line rpms, etc. I agree with the k20 head and how it comes out on top for top end. Very well out Mike.

@@reesescars6871 well i highly doubt he said that or maybe he did and hes just wrong cus torque doesnt win races horsepower does 😂 torque is the rate at which work is done horsepower is the total output of work as in top speed thats why racecars have minimal torque and high horsepower and trucks among other vehicles that pull things have insanely high torque its basic physics not that i dont work on engines all day or anything..... horsepower = torque X rpm ÷ 5282 you cant top out without horsepower needed

Honda's won a hell of a lot of races with not much torque but 8500 rpm screamers.... Grabbing that much more torque it's only like point three seconds quicker to 60 so really how much is all that extra twerk doing

I feel your pain man, from day one of test driving my car, the first thing I noticed was dude this thing is gutless, down low and in the mids. If I wanted power I had to scream it out to 8k and float the valves lol. It looks like honda felt the same because the 9th had the k24, and the 10ths have a small turbo that spools quickly giving better mids. Once I finally acquire a small fortune, and can turbocharge my car id like to go with a Tomei M8270 that makes boost in the midrange. Enough of my rambling lol congrats on the swap man and have a good evening
Take it all the way to 8500rpm, float some valves, and power shift so you fall back into your HP and little torque band haha. All in all, I respect all engines and generations because they have their positives and negatives. If I have the money down the road I wanna go supercharger maybe, maybe high rev k24... we shall see

just dyno my jdm k24a with the stock intake manifold and got 226hp 190tq. 00civic sedan jdm k24a-types oil pump-supertech valve springs and retainers-ktuned swap ram headers-lightflywheel- 1.5 clutch. im gonna swap intake manifolds and then compare graphs.
Swap your cam gear to 50degree cam gear and a skunk too manifold
I’ve heard the jdm k24a from the tsx are the more desirable ones because of cams. Planning on ordering that swap this week.
I agree with the torque, the k24 feels so different from the k20.. for me the torque makes it more fun

Nice build. I've been thinking about getting a jdm k24 bottom for a while now. In the next to months I'm having skunk2 stage 2 tuner cams and full skunk2 valve train put in, a rrc port matched to a j37 and 550cc injectors and a rrc oil pump kit. Im hoping that will give me the power I want, but if not, next year I'll be going frank build. Well see ....

You definitely love that motor but I'm still K20 and I've driven newer si's. I'd have to one up Also and run boost before a swap and have an all original motor boosted Civic. That's what I like on paper lol cheers man love all Honda content keep it flowing. Maybe take it to a track for next video.

Hey Gerb I solve the EGR problem the intake manifold for the TSX don't have the 4 holes drill for the exhaust gas so I used the intake manifold gasket to line up the holes & drilled it out now the codes are gone bot I am having another code PO172 bank 1 to rich to much gas & not enough oxygen any ideas on this code I switched back to my K2.0Z2 injectors the car don't have the power as with the injectors from the K2.4A2 TSX but the code is gone need some help with this thks again Gerb

Hey gerb what did you do about the fuel lines? Did they bolt right up or did you use a aftermarket part .
can you tell me which serpentine belt to purchase? I transferred the crank pully and all accessories over, but could not able to get the belt on.

I have a 1992 honda accord. It has the original F22A1 in it. Would you recommend to rebuild it since it has worn out bearings or hold you recommend to swap it? Obviously budget comes first and lets just say, my budgets pretty dang low.
Og Bqze if you plan on keeping it, I’d swap it out with a low mileage engine.
Did you upgrade the Type S oil pump? I have a JDM K24 in the works, don’t know if I want to/can add a ported/clearanced Type S oil pump since I’m putting it into a CRV
greeenteeee nah man, running stock k24 oil pump right now. You can and should add it. You’ll probs regret it if you don’t. Plus you can rev to like 8500rpm with type s pump, although I wouldn’t advice that high for stock internal k24.
Gerb well that’s why idk if I need it. I had a K20 before in an RSX would be cool to be able to rev the 24 to 8k but piston speeds and I’m sticking with stock valvetrain anyway. +$4-500 for the oil pump is steep after everything else . Going in a CRV, not sure if I’ll care to go to 8k was thinking I’ll be happy w stock K24 redline
greeenteeee that’s what I told myself and it’s somewhat right. The piston speeds at 8krpm on a 24 are like a k20 revving to 9k rpm or higher. You have the same paranoid thinking about the piston speeds like I do haha. You also have to worry about valves floating, oil circulation, rod bolts, bearings @ those rpms. I was doing a budget build, so I didn’t wanna drop the $400 either! All your opinion, but it’s hard to say if a stock cam, k24 will make power even at 8k, ya know? My rev limiter is @7600 rn, I’m happy, but if I can get a tiny bit more out (7800rpm), I’ll be happy. Stock 24 should be able to take 7500-7800 rev limiter all day!

Hey gerb I was reading on the forums on people having problems with the fuel lines . I guess the k24 fuel lines are bigger . What was your solution and could you provide a link to the part you have to get around that ?
Hey man I couldn't post this comment on your transmission fluid video for some reason, but I was wanting to ask how you like the amsoil MTF and do you still use it? I'm thinking about trying it out but there isn't much of any reviews for it out there, I've only been using the OEM honda MTF and its been working well for me. After installing the acuity shifter bushing it shift a lot smoother but sometimes it still feel a little notchy going to 2nd and 3rd, so i was wondering if amsoil MTF can improve that?

Hey Gerb I did a K 1.4 A2 in my Acura csx port & polish head no I am getting code 172 to much gas & not enough oxygen all the sensors were ok before I did the swap I replaced oxygen sensor, temperature sensor still having the same code what do you think i can do next to keep that code from coming on

Hey Gerb I swap out my K2.0 from my Acura CSX with K2.4 Acura TSX now I am getting some codes PO172, rich mixture to much gasoline when the code comes on the VSA light comes on & the engine is derated it will not go over 50km P2646, VTEC switch not turning on it was fine on the K2.0 need some help to resolve these codes thks
Do U know why k20 burns oil? I’ve changed pcv valve and everything else still burns oil like about 1qt every 1000 miles why is that? I ask cause u the most knowledgeable about the k20 as I know off

There's oil passing by the pistons rings and being combusted with fuel. You can you some Lucas oil to help restore the lost combustion and reduce unwanted oil consumption--this is a bandaid not a fix.

Where do you have vtec set at? I'm in the process of k24 swapping my ep3 with an 08 k24a2. Prb manifold and tb, long tube headers, and 2.5 exhaust. Just trying to figure out where a good starting point is gonna be on my basemap when I start tuning

I’ve heard that by a few others too! Maybe revving to high is causing the issues/stress cracking
Those extra thousand rpms with a k20 head will make a massive difference over tsx head. Rsx heads see 8100k daily

Hows your gears doing with ktuned cmc? Still able to redline and quick shift?
I can redline no problem, but 1st gear into second grinds slightly when I try and hit redline in 1st. All other gears are fine. Loved the Ktuned cmc
@@TheGerbsteve i got maybe the slightest lil chirp into 2nd sometimes. Like it'll still get into gear but u know something isn't fully syncing up in there.I dont know what cmc is in the car but its aftermarket definitely. I ordered hybrid racing cmc and hopefully it works a lil better.

@@yourtubener There's a delay valve in the slave cylinder too. Go aftermarket slave and you shouldn't have any more issues.

You don't need the S oil pump so safely run your K24 to past 8000 rpm.

odd mods never lost, we were basically even on that 60 roll. But basic bolt ons, dyno tune.

Still wouldn’t count it as an L. He has ram air, header, slightly bigger custom exhaust over stock, hondata, and dyno tune. Revving to 8600-8800

My tuner said the k20z3 is stronger because the blocks material is made from the same metals as the GSR and he said the k24 is made from the same metals as the b20 ....and that’s from a shop that specializes in Honda’s and have a 6sec eg hatch...is this true
I don’t know about that.. the only reason the b20s were weak was because of the bigger cylinder bore and thinner sleeves.. I don’t think they are made from different materials
yeaa the b20 wont do as well because the sleeve design was bad... but the k20z3 is maybe good for 950-1000hp max, some have tried to go past it but they noticed cracking at the bottom of the block, the D16Z6 & Y8 can handle more than that, sad but true, there is a guy running low 8s in the d16
