Oh I love curl creams too! They are a must for my high porosity, dry hair. I agree about that ‘stick’ quality that assist curl clumps. You’re the only curly Influencer I can think of who talks about that.
They’re awesome! I haven’t seen people talk about “stick” either but I feel it’s pretty important for achieving desired results! Thank you for watching!
It's so hard to name a favorite; you have to make a list because it's like certain creams are best in certain situations. It can depend on what your hair needs, what you're pairing it with, what the weather is like, if you're going for certain look, etc. And then for every category you might come up with, it's hard to pick one that reigns better than the rest lol. Plus my hair will perform well w/ a certain cream but then suddenly not as well & I will pick another one. Can't wait to see the video! (Cuz once again I'm commenting from the start☺️)
I recently tried the moroccon oilcurl cream and it is the best of any i have tried. Most curl creams have no hold and either too much or too little protein. This one is perfect for me. It even left a tiny bit of cast for me, which was a shocker.
I’m pretty new to this (10 months in) and still don’t understand the difference between a leave-in conditioner and a curl cream. Based on what I’ve watched/read so far, it sounds like the purpose of a leave-in is to keep your hair hydrated, and the purpose of a curl cream is to reduce frizz and encourage definition and clumping*… by providing hydration. Did I misunderstand that, or is there another mechanism at work in curl creams that I’m missing? If you consider requests, I’d love to learn more about how that mechanism works and what ingredients contribute to it. * (and also either type might provide slip and/or protein and a cream may provide some hold, but not necessarily)
Thanks Michelle for doing another round of this style of video. I am interested in how the lists will change. Verb and AG are on my list. They also have a ream for wavies called Beach Bomb. The other cream on my list from an affordable brand is All About Curls. Some of the line comes in travel sizes.
You’re welcome! It was way overdue! I didn’t go back and look at the old ones. I didn’t want to be influenced by past me and wanted to pick te things I’m loving now. Maybe when I’m done with these, I’ll watch the old ones. I might have to check out all about curls especially if they have travel sizes! Thank you for watching!
@@CurlyChelle547 after continuing to watch, i now want to try the curl carisma. Ive got the miribelle protein cream in my stash to try once my current leave in is finished
You had me at the Briogeo one! Personally I find curl creams a bit too heavy for summer (especially since my hair lives in braids or buns and gets washed every other day with this heatwave) so I go for a leave-in cream with a lightweight gel instead.. I love this "top ten" series!! Would you consider a "if RUclips wasn't my job" video where you'd pick the one or two products per category? It's always nice to see what content creators use in their own time.
It’s such a good one! I also love the video idea! I think that would be an interesting one to do! In this heat wave I basically put my hair up and pretend it doesn’t exist when not on camera! 😂. Thank you for watching!
I saw an Instagram post by AG that suggested pairing the 2 together. I assume because the Curl definer is a "styling cream", which means it has hold to it? I know the recoil says it has soft hold, but I think the curl definer has a light, yet lasting hold. I like the curl definer paired w/the AG liquid effects. I think that's about to replace the biolage gelee as my ride or die gel! I'm on my 2nd bottle after having my 1st bottle for less than a year! So far it's paired nicely with anything I've tried w/it - which is one of the reasons the gelee is so great. It seems to mix well with everything! The liquid effects says it's a styling lotion on the bottle, but it's a clear, pretty runny gel. I don't have many things I go thru within a year just because I have too many darn products lol. I have AG details but everytime I think I'm going to use it I change my mind last minute & grab recoil lol
I can see those working well together. I’ve really been liking the liquid effects a lot lately too! I just have been using it mostly off camera but it’s definitely becoming a go to! I really need to grab so,e of the details cream soon! Pretty sure I’ve tried it at some point but I don’t remember… 😂
@@lialowe266 Pretty sure they were saying the recoil 1st, then the definer. It wasn't a video, it was an ad where you just keep swiping to see the next pic. It was talking about the differences between using recoil by itself vs both of them, & suggesting what to use based on what you were going for, it said something about using recoil alone for touchably soft curls, use with curl fresh definer for more hold & longer lasting style. Something like that anyways.
Welcome to my channel! The creams on their own won’t have much longevity. Most creams have little hold if any at all. They help to define, moisturize and fight frizz. If you’re looking for hold and longevity, I’d suggest layering a stronger hold product over the top like a firm hold mousse, gel, or hairspray. I have a lot of videos demonstrating layering products especially my shop my stash/curly combo series where I choose my products on camera and explain why I’m choosing to combine them so that information can be applied to the products you have. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!
I have! I did a review video on it, along with other Cake products, a while back. I did really like it but I just don’t reach for it as often as I do other creams. Thank you for watching!
@Curly Chelle I love how informative your videos are btw and yes that ginger works well in the curl cream. To me t's a bit stronger in the Curl Fresh shampoo... so it's great for ginger lovers. 💕
My curl definer isn't that liquid-y🤔 When you were saying how runny it is I was thinking it's not that bad. I'd describe it like a lotion. But I think I remember on your review video you mentioned how runny it is. I just shook mine to see if it did that & it doesn't do that at all. It only has about 25 to 30% left, & I shook it lightly & nothing happened, so then I shook it harder& I just heard it all glop to the other side. Nothing like how yours sounded. Weird. I wonder which of us has the weird one. I actually purchased a 2nd one already because it was on sale for $15 at Ulta a little bit ago & I knew I'd want another when mine is gone. I'm very curious now...
Ok, I definitely have been thinking it’s really weird how runny it is! It’s like water! I’m curious which one of us has the weird one too. My guess is mine is the weird one. I can’t imagine it’s supposed to be THAT runny! I’m going to grab another one soon. Maybe tomorrow because now I want to know!
@@CurlyChelle547 I think ulta has a sale for that right now actually. I'm not sure if it's still there, but I know last they had specific AG products on sale, not many, but the curl definer was one of them. (I bought my 2nd one the time before when it all of AG was on sale). If that sale is still going on, they also had the new climate control hair mask on sale, & I hope it still is because I had purchased the travel size one to try, & I just got around to trying it & my hair loved it!
The moroccanoil curl defining cream is awfull. Maybe it is good for wavy hair. But it is a disaster for curly hair. It gives no moisture at all. It makes your hair superdry. And has zero slip. And that for such an expensive product. It's trash. Very, very expensive trash😡
