Love this guide! However, curl types don’t really matter that much because I know a lot of people like myself who are a range of 2b-3a/3b curly hair that is very thick in density
The curl talk curl cream is absolutely fantastic. I’m obsessed with it. The gel however I find doesn’t give me enough hold because my hair is so delicate. I like iron grip gels because they make my hair stay locked all day
I did finger coiling yesterday and it just did not turn out 😞 I was so disappointed because it takes me extra long because I had a stroke and doing things with my affected side ( my left) is such a challenge 💯 I did everything just like you did in the last video so I attribute it to the products I used idk. I used a curl cream 1st Curls Rock then NYM mousse prior to coiling, I used the same gel as you to set & gently scrunch. I’m not giving up yet.
Love this video, it is helpful for all curl types. I have type 4A-B hair and recently have been using Curlsmith products (I was one of their hot curl summer winners! ). Had also purchased products before this giveaway and really like their Oil-In-Cream and Hold Me Softy Style Balm. My favorite Gel is the In-Shower Style Fixer. I bought samples of the Weightless Cream and Hydro Style Flexi Jelly and used them last week. I will have to pair the Weightless Air Cream with a heavier cream or gel. Will be using the Feather-Light Protein Cream w/the Shape Up Aqua Gel tomorrow. 💜 💜 I would like to try the Maui Moisture Coconut Smoothie and also will be revisiting Kinky Curly after quite a few years. 😊
Love this ! So many different curl type hair porosity... knowing your hair is so crucial so you know what products to use. I have 3 a 3 b curls low porosity... I need a lot of moisture ! I love maui moisture 💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕
The SheaMoisture High Porosity hair curl gel and the spray oil from the same line have been my holy grails for a few years. I'm now down to my last bottle of each from my stockpile and still haven't found anything that compares. In about 4 wash days, I'm gonna be in panic mode!
I am in hair hell right now. Frizz galore and undefined curls. I have clarified, tried adding moisture, then tried adding protein. It just looks bad. I can't seem to fix it. I have used NYM's, Anthony's, Briogeo, Function of Beauty, Aussie, Redken, and Olaplex to name a few. Thinking of just straightening at this point. I wish I had ur hair. 😭😭 Great video.
I use the curlsmith wash day items. The stylers doesn’t seem to work for me. But the kinky curly custard is my OG tried and true never failed me. Have been using since I did my big chop over a decade ago.
I don't have as much curl as you do, BUT if you love the Maui products- I've been using their hydrating repair & moisture shampoo! I also highlight my hair but I'm more wavy (I get curlier on my better days) I have never tried their styling products though!! I'll have to look into them some more 💖
I just discovered you tonight and I enjoyed this video. Your hair is beautiful! In the last year my hair has gone from straight to curly - something is going on with my hormones. I'm trying to embrace my curls but I'm struggling some days 😆 I look forward to viewing your videos and learning some pointers. :)
The Not Your Mother's Curl Talk defining cream makes my hair (fine, low porosity 2a-3a) soooo dry and frizzy and only works if I use it with one other specific product, which is the OGX coconut curls mousse. And I never usually use mousses on my hair. I don't know why the Curl Talk cream works so well for everyone else but doesn't work consistently for me. Could it be that my hair is protein-sensitive or something?
So glad I found you💯😍 added a few things to cart today👍🏼 love your curls girl, here’s to hoping I can get mine as gorgeous as yours! Thx for the info, I too am constantly trying new products & I waste so much money 😩
Glad I came across this, I checked on the cream oil leave in and the price isn’t the same. Going to try it out. I don’t like volume, but I like my waves. Hopefully this will work 💕
Okay how did I not know aloe vera was a humectant?! I've been using maui moisture products wondering why my hair was always frizzy...FL climate over here. Thanks Chloe!!! You're AMAZING!!!!🤩
Okay but what if we have tighter curls, but way less density :( it’s always more complex you know everyone’s hair mix and matches sometimes so it’d be nice if maybe there was a video for different varieties/mixes or hair density to curl types. Help everyone out just a little more you know 🥺🥺🥺🙏🏻
Found you on TikTok Love the tips appreciate them and I also decided to go with a recommendation of the verb line! I'm excited because I've never used them before so I'm hoping that they are good for my hair!!💜
Omg i love this thank you! I have thin wavy hair and was looking into hold products. I currently use the shea moisture castor oil leave in which i feel is too heavy and then this not your mother's curl cream but i felt i wasnt getting enough hold so i tried some mens gel last wash which is cheap, spiked hair type and i obviously didnt love the result but the magnitude of my curl pattern was insane! I think a lighter leave in and then probably that not your mothers gel would do wonders! I've also used my facial toner as a leave in and felt odd doing that but it made sense to me and seeing the leave in here that's watery I'm wondering how similar the two are.
Thank you, Chloe! I just bought a bunch of DevaCurl products and am now learning about the lawsuit...sheesh. So many thanks for the product recommendations!!
Hi, i don’t know if you are still using DevaCurl products but i hope your hair is happy & healthy because i am her to WARN you, i used to love DevaCurl but then I started to lose my curl and my hair was becoming unmanageable, so i did some research and their are many videos saying DevaCurl is bad so just be careful. Hope this helps! 😁
Layers definitely give you volume and shape ! Where are you located ? I go to Orlando all the way from nyc cause I’m convinced only my stylist knows how to manage my curls ! So hard To find a good one nowadays
Great video! Quick question, does one need all the products mentioned (for the hair type) or a few? I’m new to figuring out my curly hair and don’t know what to use, what order and when.
So glad you liked it! Just a few! Don’t overwhelm yourself...try a few...play around with them with different amounts and application techniques and if they don’t work, you can always try different ones 😘
Great video, I was wondering if you can use the verb curl cream with the curlsmith hydro flexi gel, I believe I have a mix of 2c 3a hair but no volume at all, I do need to go to the hairdresser and get some layers back, but anyways still learning and still looking for product that would actually work😓😓 Subscribed!
This is outstanding. I subscribed. I hope you do a video about using mousse, either by itself or in combo with creams or gels. Which type of hair benefits most from mousse? Thanks for a great video!
Loved this video! If you worry about product heaviness would you recommend using a med hold gel on top of the Maui moisture product. I’m learning my hair loves aloe.
So what do I do and what do I use if I have fine, thin hair but my actual curls, when they cooperate and do right, look like your curls....I know my roots are either weighed down or something because I don't have a lot of curl towards my roots, I just know I need to change my methods and am trying to watch ALL of your videos to figure it out but I am still confused because my combination of hair type/texture doesn't fit with the shape of curl I have so I'm not sure what to do
Just found your channel and I loveee! Have you tried the brand pattern? I just started using their shampoo and conditioner not to long ago, still trying to figure out if I like it or not. I think I do. Lol. But they also released styling products not too long ago that I have been tempted to try.
Which products would you recommend for someone who is allergic to aloe vera? My scalp and skin are super sensitive to aloe and I've struggled for years to find many curly hair products that don't include aloe vera somewhere in their ingredients lists.
Thank you! I think I figured out which products I need now that I've watched this. I was definitely only using one product before. I love to let my hair air dry, though. Can I air dry after all the products or do I HAVE to use a dryer and diffuse? Thanks!
Hi I'm Jen. New sub here! Found this video and I've been watching a bunch of your older ones. LOVE YOUR CURLS!!! Also, love products videos! Have you seen the Bread Beauty products at Sephora? I'm super curious about them. I'm a 2b/c but with a thick density/ course texture. Do you have a nighttime routine video? Can't wait to see more!
When people say refresh your hair between washes i get confused, do you wet or dampen your hair and restyle? Or just add products to dry hair & restyle?
I am confused. Should one use a strong hold gel or light hold? Why would one go for light hold when there is strong hold? I don't get it- I have 2b-2c hair.
Great recommendation. Thanks. Curious that you stick to only 4-5 brands when there are truck loads of products which are super stars and garbage alike in all price range 🤔.
Hi, so you said that 2a-3a has fine & thin hair well I’m the opposite i have 2c/3a hair with thick hair (not as thick as type 4) anyways does that mean i should use lightweight or a little heavier cream since i live in high humidity and my hair needs the moisture? Also any recommendations?
It really depends on your porosity since you said it is humid where you live I recommend a glycerin free gel to lock in the moisture and give you a nice hold
Hi Chloe!!!! GREAT VIDEO...thank you so much for the suggestions. I've had the Maui Moisture Curl Quench Milk in my arsenal but need to figure out what gel to pair it with...suggestions?
I have no idea what curl type I have becuase my mom doesn't know how to take care of curly hair so I never learned how till my bff told me I have curly hair . How can I try and find what type hair I have
Hey there. I was looking at the kinky curly and it says it has aloe vera in it as one of the first 5 ingredients. I thought Aloe was a humectant? I live in GA an man do I deal with higher dew points here about 8 months out of the year....
girl! Thanks for pointing this out! luckily aloe is a pretty light humectant compared to glycerin. Normally this is the gel I go towards when I need the most hold in high humidity, so I would recommend still giving it a try! We have super high humidity in WI as well ❤️

So being able to identify my curl type would help me figure out which products suit best depending on what stage my curl pattern is in based on how long since my smoothing treatment. Thank you in advance for any advice on this.
I’ve tried the Curlsmith Oil in cream and I found it too heavy and greasy for my heavy dense 3B curls and the Curlsmith Souffle was not great either.. I couldn’t figure them both out no matter what I did.. I wonder if the Flexi Jelly might me a better option.. Have you tried the Innersense Whipped Texture cream? That’s an amazing cream that adds moisture and hold. Could use it as a one and done..
interesting! all of our curls are very different, so everything isn't always going to work for everybody. I have used the inner sense cream and agree it's a fantastic product! I wouldn't however be able to use it as a one and done, since my hair is high porosity and needs more hold
I am mainly 2B to 2C, and love lightweight leave-ins and creams, but I find I actually need a hard hold gel as my hair is coarse and thick and wants to do its own thing otherwise!
H that’s so interesting! All of our curls are so different and crave different things! That’s the beauty in experimenting with new products and learning what we like! 💕
I love Kinky curly! Can you recommend if I can only get like 4-5 Curlsmith travel sizes at a time to try products which to start with, with 1 def being their bondicurl💯✌️ Love you😍💕
Love this guide! However, curl types don’t really matter that much because I know a lot of people like myself who are a range of 2b-3a/3b curly hair that is very thick in density
