Lyrics
Thank you
Oh, let me hear you say yeah
Let me hear you say yeah
Let me hear you say yeah
Come on, darling, let me hear you say yeah
Well, if you ever plan to motor west
Just take my way, that's the highway that's the best
Get your kicks on Route 66
Well, it winds from Chicago to LA
More than 2000 miles all the way
Get your kicks on Route 66
Well, goes from St.Louie down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks, oh, so pretty
You'll see Amarillo and Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino
Would you get hip to this kindly tip
Yes, and go take that California trip?
Get your kicks on Route 66
Well, goes from St. Louie down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks, oh, so pretty
You'll see Amarillo and Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino
Would you get hip to this kindly tip
Yes, and go take that California trip?
Get your kicks on Route 66
Get your kicks on Route 66
Come on, get your kicks on Route 66

Love the early Stones stuff.
I can tell you the early Stones were the best. Bought my first single in 1963.
Always thought the Stones first album was the best ! Can remember kids at school bringing it to an end of term party in 1964 and everyone loving it. We were so lucky to have in that era The Beatles,Stones,Kinks,Who,et.etc
Totally agree with you. Bill Wyman’s bass line was epic, really drove this along.
Last days of september in 64,I'm gonna turn twelve, back to school in a working class suburb near Paris,France. What a week, first kiss, first cigarette .And a guy came with a Teppaz,a portable record player. Two 45's ,the Beatles ,with their She Loves You,which I don't like and the Rolling Stones with Carol,I'm a King Bee,Walking the Dog and Can I Get a Witness.
For a young boy,it's the best start in life.In real life.
I like the Stones but their first album was definitely their best, never really took to the others.
@@jimmatthews6135 Definitely, I love Route 66, Oh Carol especially
Chucks songs are often raunchy American geography lessons
Bill Wyman really knew how to play that bass! One of the best!
He was the best musician on the band, truely jazzistic stuff.
@@professorcaveirinha4784 they were all good but without Bill they do not sound as good!
They just didnt sound the same after he left
All I hear is single notes
@@danvitale1825 That's usually what bassists play. Chords on a bass *can* be done but it's not usual.
That bass playing!! What a feel!!
The soul of The Stones --
His Framus bass had great tone especially on OUT OF TIME .
I can't hear the bass, all I hear are single notes....
@@arneberg9261 yea... happy that my first two RS concerts had Bill Wyman on bass
One of the best songs ever. One of the best versions ever.
Bill Wyman’s bass line was the best, really cooked.
Check out THEMs version.Van Morrison
No the live recordig on that Ep.
Check out the version by Sandie Shaw. Is out of this world.
I certainly will, by the way I heard the version of Route 66 by Asleep at the wheel, and it's blown me away, have a listen 🎶
Love the _SOUND_ of these 60's stereo tracks. Guitars that aren't buried in overdrive, and _ohhhh,_ Charlie's old school drum kit!
what a Sharp and distinct sound.
IN 1966 I was rhythm guitarist in a band that five of us formed at college in the North of England.. We were based on the Stones with two guitars, bass, drums and a singer who played the harmonica. We came up with a version of this song which we called "Get your kicks on the A66" (the A66 is a road that runs from the East coast to the west coast across North Yorkshire and Cumbria). It always went down well with local audiences.
My mother had their early 45s, all these R&B songs. They rarely play these songs on the radio, even the oldies stations.
That’s why god made Spotify.
Wow that bass! Never heard it so nice!
In 1965 I was 8yrs old watching the Rolling Stones on Ed Sullivan show for the first time. I remember thinking I can’t wait to retire and go see these guys play live in Denver in 2024. Sure enough, I have tickets for the show in June! 😂😂😂
@LanceRomanceF4E So happy for you, enjoy!
Lol. Oh, by the way, I watched them play live in a Watford cinema in October '64, shortly before they went to the States and did that famous 'Shindig' show. But in Watford I couldn't hear a note because of the mass of screaming girls in front of me.
😂
I saw the show too. I thought charlie looked like the cartoon cave man Alley Oop and that Mick Jagger looked like a girl I knew called Clarion O'Brien.
God bless tbe rolling stones
Charlie watts Rest and peace!
No Jones=NO STONES !!! Brian Jones, who named the Rolling Stones....and the greatest musician in the history of rock and roll.....credited with playing 25 (TWENTY FIVE !!!) instruments 🎷🎸🎹🎺🎻
In every video he is strumming bar chords while Keith plays all the interesting parts. He gets the camera close up because he has the odd shaped guitar and cool Beatles hair cut, but I've never seen him play anything difficult or interesting.
Quelle époque, quelle ambiance ! L'influence du grand Chuck est bien là.
Qué razón tienes hermano....el gran Chuck Berry está detrás de los grandes temas
Chuck Bere sil vous plait
Greatest rock and roll band ever ❤
yes they are
Better than rutles
❤❤❤
It's funny that back in the 60's when I was a fan we would never have classed them as a rock and roll band, they were R&B; rock and roll was completely different style.
oldest
the anthem of my youth....that and plus "Carol" ...oh we dug ol chucky-babe too...we had an ep with 4 Berry,s on it, we wore that one out !!No one knew the Chess label in those days...The first 4 Stones LPs were our whole universe, plus many others. We lived thru that era, it was exciting, the chicks were hard to get, but WE HAD THE MUSIC !!!!!
60 fucking years ago!!!??? Where did it all go? And so quickly.
Nice to hear the bass guitar .
Bill rely made them in the early days.
Amazingly tight drums from mr. Watts! As always. Rest his soul❤
Love this rocking version of Route 66.
Bloody marvelous! I was there at the beginning, Crawdaddy, Sunday nights, Station Hotei and then Richmond Athletic Club. The best days.
Yep, I was at the AthletIc Club a month or so after they released Come On..
You can hear Bill's bass playing on here ... not bad 👍😊
Usually Wyman is buried in the mix. My first “real bass” was a Framus Star bass. Back then it was all about the looks.
Loved listening to the mighty stones since I was a KID now im 62 thanks for the upload 👍
Like it this is pure Stones
Hard to miss just how good the RS were at this, old days and new days.
Wow !!! Best version ever. What a bassline !!!!!
I’ve been on Route 66 a few times in the 1970s. It was fun! My sister and I hitchhiked across the U.S. on my 20th birthday and that’s one of the roads we took.
Chuck Berry's songs just brilliant. What a genius producing stuff like this in the 50's. R.I.P Chuck you enhanced my life and still do with your songs. 110963
Absolutely Damien. Chuck was amazing, and Keith (Richards) played Chuck’s guitar solos brilliantly. While the Stones covered Chuck’s “Carol” on their debut album, I’m sure you are aware while Chuck did a cover of “Route 66” he did not right this song. It was written by Bobby Troup and was a huge hit way back by Nat King Cole. I love the Stones version too.
@@markfleming4162 Ah, I did not know Chuck did not write "Route 66". I'll have to do research on it. Had a look at Nat king Cole's version in 1957 which is little bit different to the rock and roll versions!
Route 66 was written by Bobby Troup in 1946 and was a hit for Nat King Cole that same year.
Chuck Berry recorded it for his "New Juke Box Hits" album in 1961.
Asleep at the wheel has a great version of rte 66
SIC Troupe!
Yes, a superior version compared to this effort.
BRAVO ROLLING STONES❤!!!!!
THE best Band forever of ROCK and ROLL 💯💯🎸🎸🎸
El mejor espectáculo del mundo es ver un concierto de los Stones, jejeje yo tuve la satisfacción de verlos 4veces ,únicos, un saudiño dende GALIZA ESPAÑA
Greatest beginnings of my past. 😂 Music has never stopped since my introduction out of the womb.
Wyman + Watts = jazz groove!
Great to hear this track again I reorded the original broadcasts on a Reel to Reel tape recorder.
that was damn good...and already in 1964...wow....didn't play this one too often on the radio back then....
Been down route 66 quite the drive ❤️❤️
I'm British but got to live a fantasy driving down that road with this record playing.
We have property near Seligman, AZ which is on Route 66. Go down short stretches regularly. Born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, UK!
Great performance! Phenomenal bass playing.
Great lead work from Keith
A bad impression of Chuck Berry.
@@SuperMikado282he blows Chuck Berry away, always has, fool.
@SPICYTUNAROLL69 Oh, you are an expert, are you? Or just an expert at mouthing off on the Internet?
Early songs were the best
No, all the Stones eras are great!! The Mick Taylor albums are outstanding! 😃😃
@@SeptemberChild1835 так и не понял то настоящее что означает камни❤ это не исправить. Есть или нет , быть или не быть.в чём суть? 😂
You are correct. Anything after Brian is pretty much unoriginal garbage. Not entertaining at all.
@@mullerk2 Please listen to the Mick Taylor albums! I love the Brian-era material!! Brian had an amazing influence!! But The Rolling Stones had incredible material after Brian, too! The Rolling Stones are the greatest band because they had so many musical ideas. Definitely more than the Beatles.
They were great as well later with Taylor, but the early Stones clicked different for me
Just received the two LP and CD versions. What a fun listen👍👍
The first album was rough, ready and brilliant.
Recorded on 2-Track recording, no less..!!
I still listen to it. Great stuff.
You have to admit that even in 1964 these guys were on top of their game.
After Brian left they were garbage.
With Brian Jones because it was his band then!
@@mullerk2 -- Sorry, but Mick Taylor saved the Stones in the '70s, while at the same time, ex-Byrd Gram Parsons was getting his drug-addled tentacles into Keith and doing his best to destroy them.
@@mullerk2nah, Mick Taylor and then ronnie wood were just as good if not better. And lets face it Brian didn't want it anymore, nor was he in the shape to do it.
The Stones had massive American tour coming up and Brian wasnt even being active in the band anymore. So of course they HAD to get someone else.
And even in the very beginning, Brian was very good and wrote some good music for the band, but the Stones has ALWAYS been mainly about Mick and Keith.
After that, every band wanted to have that same chemistry between lead singer and lead guitarist. Axl and slash, jon bonjovi and Richie sambora, Jimmy Page and Robert plant, Eddie van Halen and David lee roth, Morrissey and johnny marr ect ect.
The Stones paved the way for all of them.
@@keithelster8858 you’re obviously not the sharpest pencil in the box,too much to attack you on here, horse before the cart here,Gram Parsons was staying at Redlands .I worked there!
Супер 👑 группа мира короли наших сердец и душ супер ❤❤❤😎 😍 🤩 😋 🤗🤗🤗💋💋💋
60 years ago!! Cant belive it
Love that raw sound! ❤️
Great tune also loved walking the dog and little by little ..
Best thing I ever heard them do.
Still got Stones’ first LP in the loft. Just my era - great.
Love early Stones. Thanks.
Mick's voice was so different when he was younger.
Aftermath was a great album
That last chord by Brian Jones at the end!,, My fav stones era
One of the best versions of this classic.
best songs ever.
That's swings very hard, oh yeah ! On the road again...!
I'm not generally a Stones fan but I REALLY like this (already knowing it by Nat King Cole).
This version is better than their album version.
From Argentina...viva los stones
Здорово 👍 рок 🎸 ролл твист рокобилли буги вуги шейк навсегда здорово 👍
Charlie going like a train!
Perfect!
The early Stones are the best rock.
I want this on my phone. Also Bob wills is still the King. Early Stones were the best.
this one is on my phone... unable to find the great Bob Wills song anywhere, except on RUclips
yea... great live version of a classic... Bill Wyman's bass comes thru in the most perfect way in this version
Love this so much 😊😊❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👏
"Route 66" was covered many, Nat King Cole, e.g. Those were the days before Mick & Keith were really songwriters. They came to my native Cleveland to do the only nationally syndicated program with that provenance, "The Mike Douglas Show." The Stones did "Susie Q," "Walking the Dog," etc. I was only nine years old, but nonetheless I said, "That's for me."
Keith super
Very cool. 😎 never heard this version before. Thanks
ROCKIN! GET YOUR YA YA OUT!
Great cover
Stones ever!
The best song they ever did. Keith's guitar is pure rock even though he is imitating Chuck Berry's style.
I live 30 miles south of Route 66
Jolly good me lads . Its was FAB.
The Rifmaster wasborn with that 4/4 time.
They were always good
I was born 1961 and bought my fist stones-single 1963. I Knew: Only stones, the remainder of the world i don't need.
Badass
Get Your Kicks on Route 66!
I'll get mine on Route 69!
Absolutely wonderful brilliant superb live real true 100% solid gold, and these were beautiful times, can you imagine the exciting, the times the girls the dancing pubs clubs nightclub's food music era ,,ahh man WHY have we let them take it away,,even Muslims wouldn't be able to resist this excitement,
Легенда века the Rolling Stones кого можно поставить рядом.
Second record I bought, the first being "Memphis, Tennessee".
Музыка на века! !!!!
Это сейчас музыка была?
Goodyear rolling gathers no moss
That was the best time when the Beatles and the Stones still played straight rock. Later it became granny music.
Did your granny like Exile on Main Street when it came out?
Bad boys sounding good.
AWESOME
Thank you! Cheers!
😁🎶❤💃💋...Thank ypu 👍
The true stones
Par Excellence!
I love pretty much everything these guys have done, but to go back to this was way cool. Thank U Hi Tone. I have subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing to our channel!
The sound quality is really good on this cut and The Stones are playing well as a unit. Mick's vocal are straight ahead and unexaggerated which I prefer FWIW. Like many OPs here, I like the Stones early stuff.
Seems these guys have always had style.
in those days 3 mins was the usual length of a song but this groove coulda went longer
The best white R & B band ever.
What about the Yardbirds and the Animals?
best version of route 66 ive heard
awww we was babies then
I know there's differing opinions but I never thought the Stones had the same cutting edge after Brian Jones. He simply added that special ingredient that was missiing later/ though they were still good/ not unlike the Hollies without Grahm Nash !!!
Great song and sound good, I think first years albums was most best, of course
