- Draw us in the Spirit's tether
Harold Friedell
St. Bartholomew's Choir
Paolo Bordignon, Organist and Choirmaster
Draw us in the Spirit’s tether;
For when humbly, in thy name,
Two or three are met together,
Thou art in the midst of them:
Alleluya! Alleluya!
Touch we now thy garment’s hem.
As the brethren used to gather
In the name of Christ to sup,
Then with thanks to God the Father
Break the bread and bless the cup:
Alleluya! Alleluya!
So knit thou our friendship up.
All our meals and all our living
Make as sacraments of thee,
That by caring, helping, giving,
We may true disciples be:
Alleluya! Alleluya!
We will serve thee faithfully.
Words: Percy Dearmer (1867-1936)
Music: Harold Friedell (1905-1958)
Harold Friedell served as Organist and Master of the Choir at St. Bartholomew’s from 1946-1958. The directness of his harmonic style and the lyricism of his writing have earned him a place as one of the most frequently sung choral composers in the American tradition.
I love Friedell! Bless you all. Beautiful!!!
Played this for my class yesterday and again today just to put myself in the right frame of mind. Things like what you have done here are much stronger than any powers that would separate us.
Happy Titular Feastday, St. Bart’s! 🕯🙏💛
Thank you very much for this! May the Holy Spirit help me to serve God faithfully.
Exquisite. Top notch. If I hadn't seen the video I would have thought this was an in-person offering.
Very fine offering for June of 2020. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Fantastic! One of my all time favorites
Beautiful! What a blessing to hear this!
Very nice! That's a professional sound! We're doing this tomorrow (10.2.2022) at our parish, All Saints, Riverside CA.
Amazing! I will be practicing my music with you!
Bravo all around, and great audio editing!
