THANK YOU. This is Nowhere is IMPOSSIBLE to get out of your head after a few listens, glad I’m not alone. I used your exact words when describing it to my father.
Excellent review! Thank you! I am hooked on this album. It's great on vinyl as a full album (on both sides). My favorite tracks don't really align with the released hits. My favs are Don't Let Me Go, Only Love Matters, You'll Pay, Live Till I die, and I Forgot to be Your Lover. It's not often that you get an album that's good all of the way through. Thanks again.
Hey, Patrick! Thank you for watching! Glad you like the album, it's full of solid tunes. It also really sticks out (in a good way) in today's popular music landscape which is often devoid of GOOD SONGS.
Hi Paul - thank you for another fine review. Your work is - imho - a cut above the regular reviews out there, and I very much like the whole format and setting. Keep up the great work (and yes, I am subscribed!). FYI- I came to you via your Ryan Adams piece.
Think you are spot on with that review, it's good, but a bit compressed and overly commercial. Though that's probably the way they want it to be, lol. I much prefer their heavier sound, like on Brothers. Two other recent albums I'm really enjoying are by Vampire Weekend and Adrianne Lenker. Def worth checking out! As usual, I really appreciate and enjoy these detailed reviews. Thanks for doing them! Stuart
Hey, Stuart! Great to hear from you! I've been listening to the VW album and liking it (it may be my next review, not sure yet). I tried the Lenker album and wasn't in the right headspace to listen to it but I've got it on my list. Seems a lot of folks are liking both albums. Thanks again for watching and the comments!
Hey Steve, I liked the album from the get go but only got a better perspective after a lot more spins. You may come back to it at a different time and have a greater appreciation of it. Happens to me all the time. Sometimes, I'm just not in the right headspace or mood for an album and come back to it when I am.
Love this album and what it's trying to do. This album feels like a solid 2024 timestamp for me. I'll be listening to this album on late night drives, at the lake, at the firepit, in my living room, on my way home from hiking. Hell, even running to the record store to grab the last Cleveland Guardians version was a dumb little memory I'll hang onto And I can't wait to see them in October. Everything about this album is fun for me, simply put.
Hey Jerod! It's a good one for sure! If there's any justice in the music world, we'll be hearing a lot it throughout the summer. It really is a great summer record!
i'm so agree with you : Really an album with excellent ideas in each song, it's a great return. But, I have the impression that the Black Keys did not take enough time to develop each song, they follow one another, only last 2-3 minutes, as if it absolutely had to fit into the duration of the vinyl. For example, the rapping part would have benefited from being introduced more gradually. Another downside: the mastering which compressed everything, spoiled the dynamics of the pieces, it's really a bad habit of sound engineers of our time.
Hi Ben! You're exactly right. I think the album is a great release by them but it could have been even better with some adjustments, that includes dialing back the overly compressed sound. Thanks for watching and the comment!

I have been on the fence with this, still am. I do like the Black Keys but this one did not grab me as much
