- I'm not sure what most people call this era of music. Some people might know it as '2000s garage-rock' or 'post-punk revival'. It kind of lost its edge by the mid-2000s, but this may well have been the last big wave of guitar bands.

Ain't that the truth :3. Love his videos
Starting with The Strokes, already love it.
The Strokes, Interpol, and The Cribs are my favourites..
Just went to my tenth Cribs gig last weekend.
Best.band.ever.
@@MrKit19832009 that's true love
Saw the cribs last night was mega
Goddamn that Dead Leaves riff is something truly special.
They started their show in Rio de Janeiro back in 2005 with this song.
Loved seeing The Strokes, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, White Stripes and Bloc Party on here, great list man
Thanks man.
Best era of music imo. Glad to see it getting recognition!
The Hives and The Vines are my personal favorites from this era. Great work.
YES! love the fact that you put kings of leon on here. Mollys chambers is such a good song.
Your tone on f*** forever sounds exactly like the record. Great video
Thanks man.
What’s your signal chain?
Honestly love the videos, you always cover some of the best riffs
Appreciate you actually playing more than just the very beginning of dead leaves :)
I’m so glad to see BRMC included on the list. Been enjoying their music so much lately
Am glad to be seeing people turn around on this Era of music and appreciate it a lot more. I was a kid when this was happening and it defined my sense on how Rock should sound (one of the first songs I ever recall was Tick Tick Boom by The Hives)
Absolutely fantastic video. Love The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Jet and Arctic Monkeys
>clicks on video
>immediately greeted with the Strokes
>🙂
Very good, bro!!! Post Punk is one of my favorites styles
NYC Cops is such an underrated Strokes song. Love the video!
I think this has to be my favourite upload of yours ! 🙏
Great as always! It was nice of you to include PJ Harvey's riff as well c:
So many underrated bands in this genre. Oblivians, Reigning Sound, Datsuns, Dirtbombs...
An excellent trip down memory lane as ever. That _Helicopter_ cover is awesome.
Yes! You included BRMC! Thank you, Bloxsy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I`m so much love all of this rock-bands and his unforgettable music, thanks !!
THANK U SO MUCH this is all i've dreamed for
Yeah yeah yeahs and the hives are sooo underrated. Great to see you show them some love.
YYYs definitely deserve they own video imo
Nice job. My fav garage band is Black Keys. Glad u included them :)
Amazing work as always my lad!
My favourite music genre! I really like your stuff, man
Thanks man. I appreciate it,
Brings back such good memories! Great tunes
Wow, great video, great playing. You remind me how much I was into this type of music in my teens. Only two songs I'm not familiar with.
4:41 PJ Harvey! Love it! And that Interpol riff at 5:15 really is something special.
Just got back from RHCP concert. Would be awesome to see RHCP vid next (they’re my favorite band :))
A lot of great songs I haven’t thought of in a long time 💛
One of my favourite era of music, the early 2000's Garage Rock and Post Punk Revival
Very nice playing,bring back memories
This video is awesome. Thank you very much
Thank you for watching.
Sweet riffing! Some miserable Herbert nicked a batch of CDs from my car c.mid 2000s, including some bands represented here. Had completely forgotten about The Datsons and The Vines, so mucho gratitude for the re-introductions. Cheers again!
Brilliant song choices - they took me back to the best couple of years of my life 🙂
am glad i subscribed to you... so many wholesome guitar contents 🎸❤️
Killer tones, Killer playlist and rock solid time as usual 🤘🏻
oh darn, i didn’t know you were taking suggestions on this!!
I'm always open to suggestions.
@@bloxsy_ i'd say my top 3 suggestions would be "ben gurion" by the hot snakes, "can you hear it" by rocket from the crypt & "it all means nothing" by the screaming females.
i know you're not gonna play these on video anytime soon but i just felt like they'd be good to give more experience with what this style had to offer and in screaming females's case, how it's transitioned into a newer era.
Great video! As a Japanese person, THEE MICHELLE GUN ELEPHANT should also be included here!
Great video
Dude you're the best idk what else to say
Aw cheers dude. I appreciate it.
Great song selection!
I like this video because you can see the parallels between 70s punk this era
This was a really good era for music. Unfortunately, underrated. Specially The Libertines. They were an awesome band.
They are.
You seriously think The Strokes, The White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys are underrated
@@gamingnoah9807 they weren’t back in the 2000’s, they just didn’t release anything for like 5 years so they only really have themselves to blame
@@gamingnoah9807 Personally I think Arctic Monkeys are better than the Strokes, although I do admit they are a tad overrated. I find a lot of Strokes songs to sound really similar and they get kinda boring after a while, which probably assisted in their fall from the mainstream
I disagree. With the exception of the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, I pretty much hate all garage rock and post-punk revival bands. Just because it was now the 21st century didn’t mean we had to make the “modern version” of every vintage artist. Just listen to those artists.
Soooooo happy you added the Cribs Bro!
I instantly thought of Date With the Night when I saw the title. So glad to see it on the list!
Great stuff! Need to do a Part 2 with some Electric Six, The Mooney Suzuki, The Fratellis, The Detroit Cobras, Dirty Pretty Things, Cage the Elephant.
Fratellis? Urgh.
These were all great throwbacks!
As soon as I saw Bloc Party…you’re confirmed ! Good stuff.
I LOVE POST-PUNK!!!
Always enjoy yr videos, but this one was special. I was lucky enough to be living in the UK at the time, and saw all but 4 of the songs live. (Now back in NZ, I haven't even seen a Nissan). Will definitely learn a riff or two from the list.
kaiser chiefs was my favorite band when i was a child. thanks for reminding me!
Amazing playlist
Would like to see more on the libertines
Lovely riffs
If a video like this begins with a Strokes riff, I know it's a good one!
Okay now i need to go binge the strokes' first two albums again! :D
Nice to see some love for BRMC!
BRMC are brilliant.
Hell yeah. Saw them live a few days ago and they're still fucking amazing.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were pretty sick for a few albums. I remember liking them and then finding out they were linked to the whole Dig situation with Brian Jones town. Great riffs
I was a kid in the early 90s when indie/grunge etc blew up. I feel like I was too young to appreciated what was going on and in a way kind of missed it. The first time I was old enough to go to shows was late 90s and mostly nu metal was dominating at the time. When the strokes hit and all of the 2000s bands came on board, I feel like that was the first time I was able to appreciated good music and be present for it. So much good stuff during that decade and it was accessible. Now, there is still a lot of good stuff but you have to sift through a lot of nonsense to get to it.
All
My faves played expertly !!! Superb
Thanks!
Thank you !! I love Black Rebel Motorcycle Club!!!
Thanks for watching! Yeah BRMC are awesome.
Garage rock had quite the resurgence in the 2000’S🖤❤️🤘
The Black Keys really resurrected that Detroit/60’s/ nugget collection blues sound🖤🤘
the strokes and libertines up front!! my two favorite bands in middle school
Wow those songs feel like a time and place , being a teenager and hearing those songs for the first time
Que bien suena amigo buen video
It would be awesome if you did a late 2000s - early 2010s garage rock video with bands like Ty segall, Thee oh sees, Jay reatard, Meatbodies, Parquet courts, Bass drum of death, wavves etc
I was waiting for interpol and you didn't dissapoint
Love all of them🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥
Would love to see a new garage video with Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Fuzz and stuff like that
That would be cool.
Idk why but I was expecting Jay Reatard
@@lomarr332 He should definitely be included, Bass Drum of Death too
GOOOOOSH I ADORE YOU
So happy to see the Von Bondies in there!!!
Awesome AWESOME video as always my man. What is your gear for this vid?
Boss Katana and a Vintage V65
Top 10 Cribs Riffs man, Ryan is a monster
I forgot how big this scene was. You could easily do another video with bands like Maxïmo Park, Moving Units, The Killers, Eagles of Death Metal, The Bravery, etc.
Futureheads...
got arrested two days ago and this just made my whole week so much better thank you bloxsy
this guy has to be the king of tones
Súper playlist 👌
maybe lacks "At The Drive In"
ATDI are post-hardcore
The Libertines, Babyshambles, The Cribs, The White Stripes, The Hives? ok i know this is great
2000-2010 was a good decade for alternative rock
nice assortment!
1:59 I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 27. So I was like eight when that Jet album came out. And it was so good, I thought they were going to be the biggest band in the world.
All good jams! Great picks!
Thanks!
dope!
That tone! I'd like to see a gear run down.
Very nostalgic
hi man! love your compilation of riffs. Can you share your guitar setup? brands of pedals and stuff like that, ill apreciate it so much ☺
Thank you. I use a Boss Katana amp and all the sound is from there. It's recorded directly in to GarageBand via a USB where I add a little bit of reverb. That's it!
I remember being blown away when Bloc Party dropped Helicopter.. It was so different and energetic. Those first two albums are modern day classics to me.
One thing I remember about all of these bands is that their records all had really terrible mastering, even for the time. They're all so LOUD and squashed like crazy. The White Stripes got away with it since they didn't have dense arrangements, but listen to a Libertines single sometime and witness the carnage. Still, it was nice hearing rock music that wasn't post-grunge and quite a few of the bands hold up today even if a lot of them sounded kind of same-y at the time (The Libertines wrote some tremendous songs)
I think that was part of the charm though. On the bonus tracks of OK Go's album "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky," the band defends the sound by saying that they "want it to sound loud and fucked up and it's supposed to sound like your speakers are breaking and like it's coming out of the trunk of the car next to you." Then Dave Fridmann, who produced the album, agrees and says, "Even at the quietest possible audible level, we want it to sound like your shit is on fire right now."
I like how there's no consensus on what this genre / movement is called, the bands don't have much in common either (other than some form of 70's nostalgia)
02:11 aaaa✨ my favourite band & my favourite song!
Hell Yeah! Dead Leaves... is my favourite White Stripes' track🔥
youre so good
the tone at 2:33 is awesome
Please do a libertines best riffs x
The vines don’t get enough love
