Got on the bus in 1980, my first Dead show was three weeks after this what a funky time to get turned on. Really was drawn by the keyboardist sounds from then
I always thought walking along in the mission was about walking through one of the Spanish missions built by the church, coupled with the Holy Ghost and The Virgin Mother and the mission bells at midnite.
The reason they were better in Feb of 1980 was because they had Johnny de Fonseca on drums. Enrico didn’t have anything on Johnny, RIP. That band was untouchable - and often times it’s the drummer who takes a good band and makes them great
