    Beekeepers quilt hexi's are stuffed. The pattern suggests joining at the corners but I'm seaming them instead. I'm also stuffing the puffs with yarn trimmings so zero waste

    Lol I love that you take your knitting to the theater. I too always have yarn in my purse my kiddos think it's strange but I have a strict philosophy that if I can't take my yarn I'm not going. 😊

    I absolutely love that you added the gray between all of the colorful arrows in your Northeasterly. I think that looks beautiful and makes it all look cohesive.

      Thank you so much! That’s exactly why I did it, the craziness of full scrappy just isn’t for me haha

    Wow! Your Northeasterly blanket is beautiful. I definitely like how the gray makes it not your typical scrappy project.

    I’m currently working on the Stained Glass Scrappy Blanket by Ladybug Laboratory. It is a mitered square blanket but with a thin black border surrounding each square. I loved this look much more than the ones without the border. I’m also making the Battenberg Blanket, as well.
    Really enjoyed this episode and topic! Your blanket is beautiful! ❤

    I am currently working on a log cabin blanket using bulky weight yarn, but I definitely need to make the Northeasterly next. It is beautiful! I think it would be a wonderful spring, summer weight blanket knit up in some nice cotton yarn. Thank you for the ideas!

    I stumbled on your video while looking for a scrappy blanket to knit. I prefer knit blankets but I'm not crazy about the cozy memories mitered squares.
    I've been searching for awhile never finding the right thing and voila... you introduce the northeasterly blanket which is EXACTLY what I've been looking for!!!
    Thank you!!!!

      @@birchandlily I will...the problem is that I've already got a bulky knit blanket in hibernation and a worsted crochet blanket going. Do I really need a fingering weight wip too??

    Check out the Nectar Blanket by Ysolda Teague! I started mine with DK a few weeks ago, making one hexagon at a time here and there. You can use whatever weight you want and of course use scraps or have a color scheme, etc. ❤

    Seaming can be swapped out for crocheting the edges together using a single crochet stitch even if that is the only crochet stitch the knitter ever learns

    Do you have any suggestions for knitting a whimsical scrappy blanket with different weights of yarn, or do you have to stick with one weight for the whole blanket?

    • @birchandlily
      @birchandlily  2 месяца назад

      I definitely wouldn't mix weights on their own as your blanket will get all wavy and warped because they won't give you the same gauge. If you''re able to hold multiple skeins together to match gauges though you could do more of a marled look. (for example holding two different fingering weight yarns together to achieve DK, or two DK weights together to achieve approx. Worsted weight, etc)
