This sums up the transition into the second game so well. Starts off with the familiar Normandy music, and you expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows like the atmosphere of the last game. And then all of a sudden. "It's not the geth." CUE EPIC COLLECTOR MUSIC.
Mass Effect 2 was basically the anti-Mass Effect 1, almost everything is the opposite, key point operating only within the Terminus Systems and told to stay away from Citadel Space, whereas in ME1 it's the opposite
I was absolutely GLUED to my monitor during this whole intro scene. One of, if not THE best in the gaming industry. All the elements are there: nostalgia, action, fear, sadness.
@@daltonlorow8294 It also kind of reminds me of that really spine chilling, really creepy, and very eerie Reaver Theme from Josh Whedon's short-lived "Firefly" TV Series (as you can see/listen here: ruclips.net/video/Gy-KID71kzQ/видео.html )
The scenario of ME2 was worse than ME1 AND ME3 scenarios, it's just a way to introduce Cerberus, the Illusive Man and many characters and places that we see in the third game, but ME1 ending doesn't announce the Collectors fight, it annouce the Reapers arrival, Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect 2 wasn't a bad game to play (and I could finally romance Tali), but if you look at the scenarios of all 3 games, the fight against the Collectors is just a tool to prepare us to the Reapers invasion. For me, Mass Effect 3's intro cinematic with Leaving Earth is just unbeatable.
Shit, I had this now at their ship. I took some shitty heavy weapon that was nearly 0 damage and that thing was going after me. Even though I played the game like 3 times I was screaming with fear when it was nearby. Even better was when I opened the door and like 15 zombies came and I was having only a pistol. Scary shit xd
@Tellmeimaninja True, but Ashley/Kaiden/Liara did make it clear that Joker "refused" to abandon the Normandy even as everyone else on the bridge died or evacuated.
Shepard shows his will here, and not in saving Joker himself, but in his own reaction to having saved him. he doesn't flail, kick or grab at empty space. He floats away. Owning it. It doesn't bother him in the least, knowing how it'd go. He'd do the same thing again given the chance.
Collector cruiser : Kills SR1 SR2 : So you have chosen death..... It's really awesome to see her younger sister ship beating the crap outta collector cruiser in its own turf
@Nyxiz here's my opinion, we learned in ME2 that we still know very little about the reapers, we were all shocked towards the end to see what they were doing with all those colonists but really, just because one reaper was being made the way that was, that does not mean all other reapers were made the same way. them all looking alike could mean something else other than every race harvested was a squid, perhaps they found humans very intriguing enough to try something new with them.
You know a song is powerful when it gives you chills EVERY time you listen to it. Mass Effect 2 truly has the best introduction to a game I've ever experienced. I felt more in the first 5 minutes of this game than most others can drag out through the entire plot. Now, here's hoping Mass Effect 3 tops it...
Man the collectors are scary dammit! Protheans turned into reaper slaves with a ship like 40x the size of the SR2 Normandy would make me lay down and die.
Every time the part where the Collector ship shows up comes on I just feel the need to escape. Nothing good is going to happen and I just feel like I'm doomed for.
Patrick Lenigan let's see: NX-01 stands a fair chance and makes for an okay fight but might just lose NCC-1701 and NCC-1701-A beat it with little problems B, C, D and E completely step on it like Reapers on human civilisation
They still fucking butchered the collectors in me3. They were sooooooooooo much better in me2. in me3, praetorians are so ridicilous compared to the praetorians in me2.

I've completed entire Mass Effect few times already(Soldier, Engineer, Infiltrator, Vanguard), and this ME2 intro still gives me goose bumps lol First time i tried ME2 i was pretty shocked that Shepard died.
Darkstalker 212 Yeah so far is not as great as any of the previous Mass effect games but I'm enjoying it, actually having a great time with it and they at least got the open world right which they couldn't in the original, here's hoping that they have some great story DLC plans or hopefully they remaster ME 1-3. IMO this series should've been rebooted instead of Andromeda.
The exploration is great but the story and crew are boring and made out to be idiots. Apart from Drack and PeeBee. Love their conversations. Apart from the facial animations which I honestly don't mind it seems like Ryder and the crew take nothing serious. That's down to 12-16 writers though.
I'd say it's better than ME3 and maybe ME1. Also +ConorChaos crew is boring? I dunno man, Vetra feels underdeveloped, but Drack, Peebee and Jaal are fantastic, Cora is also a lot better than I expected from a human companion, nowhere near Ashley bad. I actually liked Cora more than Vetra, Vetra seems really bland. Liam is just whatever, kinda annoying. I also love Kallo and Lexi. I'm gonna go on the limb here and say that I prefer this crew over the original. Of course nobody can replace Garrus, Tali or Mordin.
Funnily enough, I remember this track best for that one moment when it stopped playing. You know the bit I mean, suddenly stepping out into the silent blue of the ship's recently destroyed bridge, devoid of all sound but your own breathing. 'Twas good stuff.
when shepard died it almost made me cry. the ending of the song was the most emotional part where shepard was all alone and no one is there to help him. gasping for air and falling into the abyss.

@Terry2982 Totally agreed. And I too had a relation with Liara, tho with a paragon character. As for the biotic powers, I guess she could've created some sort of protective field around several crew-members, but she couldn't have protected everybody due to the difficulty of creating a barrier. Also the constant heat and explosions would've propably worn out the shield rather quickly.
