This sums up the transition into the second game so well. Starts off with the familiar Normandy music, and you expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows like the atmosphere of the last game. And then all of a sudden. "It's not the geth." CUE EPIC COLLECTOR MUSIC.
Mass Effect 2 was basically the anti-Mass Effect 1, almost everything is the opposite, key point operating only within the Terminus Systems and told to stay away from Citadel Space, whereas in ME1 it's the opposite
I was absolutely GLUED to my monitor during this whole intro scene. One of, if not THE best in the gaming industry. All the elements are there: nostalgia, action, fear, sadness.
@@daltonlorow8294 It also kind of reminds me of that really spine chilling, really creepy, and very eerie Reaver Theme from Josh Whedon's short-lived "Firefly" TV Series (as you can see/listen here: ruclips.net/video/Gy-KID71kzQ/видео.html )
The scenario of ME2 was worse than ME1 AND ME3 scenarios, it's just a way to introduce Cerberus, the Illusive Man and many characters and places that we see in the third game, but ME1 ending doesn't announce the Collectors fight, it annouce the Reapers arrival, Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect 2 wasn't a bad game to play (and I could finally romance Tali), but if you look at the scenarios of all 3 games, the fight against the Collectors is just a tool to prepare us to the Reapers invasion. For me, Mass Effect 3's intro cinematic with Leaving Earth is just unbeatable.

You know a song is powerful when it gives you chills EVERY time you listen to it. Mass Effect 2 truly has the best introduction to a game I've ever experienced. I felt more in the first 5 minutes of this game than most others can drag out through the entire plot. Now, here's hoping Mass Effect 3 tops it...
Collector cruiser : Kills SR1 SR2 : So you have chosen death..... It's really awesome to see her younger sister ship beating the crap outta collector cruiser in its own turf
@Tellmeimaninja True, but Ashley/Kaiden/Liara did make it clear that Joker "refused" to abandon the Normandy even as everyone else on the bridge died or evacuated.
Man the collectors are scary dammit! Protheans turned into reaper slaves with a ship like 40x the size of the SR2 Normandy would make me lay down and die.
Shepard shows his will here, and not in saving Joker himself, but in his own reaction to having saved him. he doesn't flail, kick or grab at empty space. He floats away. Owning it. It doesn't bother him in the least, knowing how it'd go. He'd do the same thing again given the chance.
@Nyxiz here's my opinion, we learned in ME2 that we still know very little about the reapers, we were all shocked towards the end to see what they were doing with all those colonists but really, just because one reaper was being made the way that was, that does not mean all other reapers were made the same way. them all looking alike could mean something else other than every race harvested was a squid, perhaps they found humans very intriguing enough to try something new with them.
Every time the part where the Collector ship shows up comes on I just feel the need to escape. Nothing good is going to happen and I just feel like I'm doomed for.
Patrick Lenigan let's see: NX-01 stands a fair chance and makes for an okay fight but might just lose NCC-1701 and NCC-1701-A beat it with little problems B, C, D and E completely step on it like Reapers on human civilisation

@KopperNeoman I miss Immunity, too. That's why I kept my Shepard as a Shock Trooper in ME2 with Fortification as his bonus ability, since the visual effect is reminiscent of Immunity.
@Terry2982 Totally agreed. And I too had a relation with Liara, tho with a paragon character. As for the biotic powers, I guess she could've created some sort of protective field around several crew-members, but she couldn't have protected everybody due to the difficulty of creating a barrier. Also the constant heat and explosions would've propably worn out the shield rather quickly.
@NotMarkSJ Joker really couldn't walk without crutches (he said so in the first game) until he enlisted with Cerberus. I suspect they gave him some kind of implants or augmentation so he could stand up and walk a bit.
