  • In this video we tear into the Kraton 6s and see how bad the damage is after multiple runs with no pre-run inspections. Having had this RC for a while now, Rob, has a good understanding of what RCs need between outings, however, life intrudes and there are times when we just don't have the time to do what we know we should do. AJ, having gotten his hands of Rob's Kraton, finally shows the reason why these pre-outing inspections are so necessary. Come along as we dig into this RC and discover how bad the damage can be when maintenance is overlooked.
Caveat: Robert is fairly new to the hobby and this video is not to trash on him in any way, for we've all been here before and sometimes we forget the importance of keeping our rigs up.

Also a good idea to replace those shallow button head screws for deeper cap head screws on the motor mount.

I just brought my Kraton 6S this week (I won’t see my 6S battery for a week 🙁, it’s on order) my vary first RC. For someone who’s not (YET) mechanically inclined this could most likely be the most important video RUclips has.

@@AJJAMStudiosalso just wanna say a similar message. Got my first hobby rc yesterday. The kraton 6s blx v5. Got a 120c gens ace lipo and imars 300d? I think thats what its called. Its a gens ace smart charger. Im so happy i found your channel and your 101 series. Nobody told me about all the emotions that come with your first RC. Its a mix of excitement hesitation and anxiety. Ive got a buddy who has an xmaxx and its currently needing about $550 worth of parts. I dont wanna end up with a big paperweight lol. I took it out and bashed it last night in the parking lot near my apartment. Was so much fun even had a few people come up and ask questions. Its a quite long winded message but when i got it out of the box it was trimmed heavly to the right. But still kept going left. I took off the servo horn and readjusted it. Still not tracking straight. Its like the front right tire isnt straight. Buddy told me to adjust the toe and i did well see if it tracks straight today when i get off work.

Great tip about being careful with the threads because of speed > friction > heat from a power tool which can melt plastic and ruin the part holding the screw.

I also use the silicone spray becasue of these vids . It makes the cars look really clean . I use a spray bottle of water then air compressor to blow it dry first . I m sure I ll eventually😊👍 move up to the garden hose like you . Then spray the stuff in the ends of the dogbones area near the diffs and tires then blow that stuff around and the excess off and they look great thanks to you . 👏

I recommend 500k in the center diff, and 50-100k in both front and rear. Drives and tracks better

Thanks for making these . Mine is 5 days in my possession from new , it s new . Today the esc started a making a noise after sitting 20 ft away from me for 10 or so minutes . It was making the startup noise when I got close . I knew something was wrong so I turned it off and grabbed that bitch by the tail back to my truck . Anyways , it wouldnt fully turn on finishing the beep sequence . I tried a dozen times and it did everythjng from trying to finish starting , like it would. I’ve the motor gear , couple beeps then stop when the steering part started . A couple times nothing at all . I thought maybe servo or esc . I seen a couple cods where u plugging the servo , str, from the transmitter , could be the cure and it was . I tried this after I realized it started up in full sequential beeps while the radio was off . It wouldn’t do it with the controller on but if I left it off , it would sound normal . That’s when I thought about what I’ve read . Is this is a sign of something going already or maybe it could have been tryjng to find to find center for so long it just burned out or overheated and the esc kicked out the radio that was also left on sounds like it may be programmed or do so ? Thanks 😊

Why do they have a slot under the chassis where the spur gear is? Wouldn't dirt and rocks hit that and destroy the gear faster?

Hello, wondering if you can throw in a LSD lets say front with a stock Fireteam rear diff? Or will I have to have them both the same? Thank you...

I run them mixed a lot and have had no issues. Thanks for asking 😎👍

Just blew 4 holes in my center diff. All 4 holes are where the spider gears seat. Not sure what caused it. Spur & pinion gear mesh on motor was not tight. Front & rear diff are operating just fine. Any thoughts would be awesome.

We haven’t seen that happen before. Perhaps it was a faulty part to begin with. I wish I had a better answer for you.

do you recommend that I buy anything extra with this truck? I’m convinced that I need this thing in my life

Yes. When parts break replace them with the parts we installed in the brutal review. RPM makes the right arms for each version of this RC. Choose wisely. 😎👍
