I journal just like you. And, yes, I've been guilty of "saving" pretty journals because I was scared to mess them up. However, this year, I decided to use what I have and not buy anymore until the ones I have on my shelves were completed. My journal is a place to get my thoughts out...anyway I can. I did try to keep separate journals for my writing, our adventures, and a personal journal. I ended up combining them all. So glad to see you posting again.

I tried keeping separate ones for separate subjects and it did not go well! And thank you :)

I have always had an infinity for journalling but never really understood how to organize it to be effective, so I would often fill journal after journal and never return to them, because I had no idea where to start. I love the post it notes that feel like something really easy to implement and still feel I can reference things as I move through my journals. This is so wonderful. Thank you, Helen.

So refreshing to hear someone talk about not focusing on the socials. I am trying my best to keep off them, other than using youtube to get me through boring tasks - this video was really good for me. I've realised I've been hoarding an old diary for ages that I could use as a notebook and just scrawl around the odd 2-10 or 7-3 shift notation from an old job. It's beautiful, a waste as a diary! Thanks for reminding me to just put pen to paper and see what the result is, without trying to be precious about what comes out. I nodded through lots of this. Thanks again.

Thank you for your lovely comment. And yes - just see where the writing in the journal takes you. Explore.

I discovered you last year via your RUclips videos. I have missed them. I’m glad you are back. You are very effective on here. Thanks for this one on journaling.

Helen, so lovely to witness your return and hear your voice again. Thank you for sharing your creative process. I love how you spoke about your journals and appreciate the recipe you have given us to bake a magical cake, full of purpose. Very inspiring. Many blessings x

I have a beautiful cognac color spiral notebook I got from Marshall’s. It’s been hiding in my drawer waiting for a special use. I don’t think one will ever come that I feel worthy of the notebook so I’m just going to use it

Excellent, Elena. Just crack it open and write, make a mess, spill it with coffee, doodle. That’s what it wants!

Love your approach. I see Austin Kleon has another fan.. he is awesome! Danny Gregory is another of my favourites, he writes/journals about art, but similar principles (embrace the mess, yep!)

Wow it's so nice to see another British person on AuthorTube lol. Your writing journals look gorgeous, personally I prefer to do everything online with scrivener but I can see the appeal of writing things down :D
