This was so interesting and I really enjoyed watching it! I can relate. I can never just go to the computer and start typing. I also don’t want to think at the computer. So I too keep notebooks and take a lot of notes and journal by hand. I find by the time I flesh out and develop the ideas by hand, the typing is much easier and I can just enjoy the writing then. I found the hard work is done more in these little notebooks.
I am a big hand-written-process person. It's really refreshing to figure out that part of the process! Like yes, I can just start writing, it just has to be on paper because there is none of the "blank document paralysis" that I get when I'm on the computer. You get the joy of the process and the tangible notebook to look back on as you continue through the process 😍
I love the idea of generating character names in the S-shaped stickers. Totally love the Master Journal: 1. Work in progress 2. Future planning 3. Drafts 4. Miscellaneous
I like the idea of having my everyday notebook be discbound as well, so that I can transfer a few pages from your master notebook and carry them with me, since I'm out of the house almost for the whole day. But I also love the feel of bound notebooks, so I can't seem to decide.
I completely get that! I also adore a bound notebook, hence why I have so many 😅 I will say, if you get a bound journal and a disc bound journal in about the same size, you could bring some disc bound pages with you, they'll be loose so you'll have to keep track of them but you'll have them with you. Or if you want to carry around a A5/junior size notebook and have a letter sized discbound journal, you can fold those pages if that's not taboo for you. There's also the possibility of getting a perforated bound journal (or just very carefully removing pages from one) and hole punching them into your discbound journal. I've done that a lot with composition notebook pages.
I love the master journal! I'm putting stuff into a three ring binder right now and I'm still playing around with it. I've tried bullet journaling and it stresses me out 😅😅😅
I love bullet journaling, don't get me wrong, but my creative process is an absolute mess and the pages being static is awful I totally get it. The disc bound system is basically just a glorified binder anyway. Having everything in one place and in an order that makes sense to you is key 👌
I love this! I also have one notebook that has everything in it and then I have a “master” plotting notebook which is a disc bound system! I love the disc bound for flexibility and customization! I also have a hole punch for when needed. Where did you get some of the notebooks?
Honestly, I'm a lover of Office Depot so a majority of my notebooks are from the clearance section there for their TUL system. I do have some refills from the staples ARC system but I like the TUL quality better.
They have so many different options at different price points and I've got at least one at each level. There are the junior and letter sizes in each, but also different cover materials like leather or a cheaper, flexible plastic. And there's a top tier line that has wireless phone chargers built in to the cover 👀. I'll randomly check every couple of weeks to see if they've got anything cleranced because I think they're a tiny bit over priced for the starter system, but the refills and accessories aren't bad for the quality. You can also build your own for not too expensive if you aren't looking for something as stylized as the pre-built notebooks. Like I said.... a big fan of the depot lol 😆
Hey there! Everything I mentioned (and then some) are linked in the description, but here's the hole punch link specifically: Hole punch: www.officedepot.com/a/products/5923092/TUL-Discbound-Portable-Hole-Punch-Silver/?
Honestly... I'm not sure. It would have to depend on what you feel most comfortable with writing on/in. I personally prefer hard covered notebooks over soft but my partner prefers flexible covers so he can bend them back and write easier. I think it's definitely going to have to be personal preference and because I don't write philosophy I'm not the best resource for you. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
Thank you for this video, Sammi! :) I also like the discbound system and I have both the letter-size discbound and A5 discbound notebooks. Do you find that the letter-sized is too large for what you want to do with it? I reckon, I could go with the letter-sized and add in A5 page within it if I want. Thanks again! :)
I tend to tailor the way that I use a notebook around the strengths of that particular notebook so I don't think I've ever found the letter size too large, generally I reach for it because it is larger. I usually like to use the larger notebooks for brain dumps, planning, maps, sometimes early drafts, keeping track of what I know about characters, etc. All things that having more space on the page feels more comfortable in. It's definitely a personal preference thing
I was hyper fixated on writer’s notebooks today and just happened upon your channel. I’m so glad I did! I can’t wait to watch more of your videos. 🎉
Hey hey! Welcome! I'm glad you found me 😄

unrelated, you have the world's cutest voice
Thanks, I think that's the first time I've ever gotten that compliment
This is one of the best notebook videos I have ever watched. Great job!
Thank you so much!! 💓 💓

In fairness, you're not wrong. I've always favoured telekinesis personally.

@@SammiShane I have only ever used Happy Planner so I’ll have to check out TUL!

What do you recommend the paper for philosophers, and writing life topics..? Hand writing
