Man I love this build, I have a 5.7 out of my charger that burned down couple months ago and the idea of sticking that thing in my foxbody has been lingering would really love to see what a 5.7 can do in such a light body
I think it would be awesome. I originally was going to do that and go after the 5.7 1/4 mile record. But I ot this setup for a good deal and couldn't pass it up.
@@stroomperformance I just want a nice street car, My car has a aje k member it was setup for a LS so I been having trouble finding mounts that will fit it
One thing to remember with piston rings is that they spin as the engine runs, so ring orientation won’t really tell you much when you pull them out of an engine that ran for a while.
I agree. But the theory is that all the rings spin the same. I know it doesn't always work like that, and anything is possible. But this engine has not run long at all. The dash stats 50k, but the engine from how clean everything is only has a few starts on the pallet it was on.
@@stroomperformance mileage can be deceiving too, I have a 6.1 with 110,000 on it and looks just as good inside, mine has never been pulled apart and none of the rings were where they “should” have been. I believe the spinning of the rings is actually fairly random, and they probably spin in different directions and change direction often. Just a thought!
Someone has def been in that motor and did a half ass factory rebuild. When I swapped heads and cam in my 70k mile 6.1 it had way more carbon build up but pistons were not scuffed much on the skirt like yours. Very strange. Also that harmonic dampener looks brand new as does the timing cover. Very strange. I'll be swapping my 6.1 into a 98 mustang eventually. I need to watch your other video yet but might have some questions for you. Sweet build man
I'm wondering if the company the did I bought it from tried to half ass it together. And right! That was the first thing I seen when picking up the engine, I brushed it off that maybe it was cracked or something. But looking at it closely all the accessories are brand new. And I look forward to seeing your build.
Howdy, if you could drop a like and drop a comment. This will help my channel grow. Have a wonderful day!
Your knowledge on anything car related is absolutely insane! Love the videos!
Cool. I'm thinking about buying a used 5.7 also. Thanks for posting.

The globs looked exactly like assembly grease that was in my hellcat crate motor
Yeah, it is odd. This was supposed to be a 57k mile engine. I wonder why someone was poking around in it.
i think your globs of grease are contaminants in the oil, and that cylinder had water in it
