  • After a handful of custom builds, I always find some clarity assembling a Tamiya kit. This time I am going after another childhood RC I never had growing up, the clodbuster!. In this video I get the entire kit assembled and ready for body paint and details.

    Hi use dawn dish soap . If you use armor all it makes the white worse . I've been building for 30 yrs and 18 yrs at a Hobby Town in the 1990 - 2008 . I've built at most 30 clods. just have fun with them .

    This was my 1st kit I ever built, only was in the hobby for a month n people said I was crazy n should've got a lunchbox to build first lol but I got it built with no issues

    Always wanted a clod buster myself. I did have an original Kyosho USA 1 back in the day. So much fun.

    The white on the tires is the mold release. It is near impossible to get off. Was talking to a few cold buster guys and they said the best way is to just drive it through grass and stuff like that to just wear it off the tires. After a few snow runs I can vouch that it works, few runs and they should be clean. I’ve also heard armorall works but over the long term your tires won’t last

    Wash the clod tires with dawn dish liquid and get the water hot hot. The stuff on the tire is wax used to help release tire from mold. Ive had new motorcycle tires that looked that way

    Just soap and water on the tires. Scrub them and let the sit in good soap and they will soften up nicely 😃 great job 👏

    Clods are great. To fix the steering, swap the front servo saver ball stud to the bottom at the gearbox. Goal is to make the linkage rods parallel. Once you are in there, it becomes straightforward.
    Also, TXT-2 Agrios is probably the most scale truck, look up Bigfoot 18. Yes it looks better with clod size tires but it is still a hoot. Full build on my channel.

    That’s neat. I will say Tamiya has the coolest hard bodies, I’ve got the Bullhead on my SCX10, but I wanna do the Grand Hauler with my boy when he’s older.

    awesome brother, love clod's, i have 2 of them. one is modded to the moon and the other i keep box stock except for the shocks and steering, you def need to do on axle servos's, its pretty cheap to do and makes a WORLD of difference . for the shocks, look on ebay for redcat groundpounder shocks cuz there cheap but are perfect size and quality is surprisingly good.

    I like seeing these biulds you do. I still have a couple weeks to go before I'm able to work on my Nylint build. 6 weeks ago i cut the top tendon to my thumb in half so I can't do much of anything. But with the help of CBD's I am ahead of schedule with this healing process.

    I have to re-visit my re-re clod and re-do the steering. I also get more steering out of the rears. its okay, it still turns but I think im gonna go front steer only.

    I have 2 from the 90's waiting to be put back together. Mine are bullheads. Same chase though. Thinking I might build a 8X8 with them. Some thing I always wanted to do. On a side note I have videos up about that little hot rod build if you are interested seeing what I did with it. I just need to do a driving video with it.

    Just picked up one of these too :) Such a hard call whether to keep it stock or massively upgrade.
    Think I'll aim for middle ground. Cheap shock upgrade, rear steering rod swap and lipo alarm. Not too many $$ if it just ends up on a shelf.

    1) How do you like it now?
    2) How did you paint it?
    3) What mods did you do, if any?
    4) Which is more fun to drive, this or a stock Lunch Box?

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  4 года назад +1

      I recently painted it. Still no mods, haven’t really driven it much and haven’t driven an old lunch box to compare.

    I think you can find them cheaper in a hobby shop. I want to say the Hobby Town over in Boise had a kit for under $300 bucks. I had a fully upgraded Clod with aftermarket chassis and suspension it was awesome, should have kept it. I do still have my Koyosho USA-1 electric truck it needs some parts but I have 90% of it.

      I always wanted the usa1 just for the body. One of my favorite trucks in real life. Lol. I’m going to try and enjoy this stock for a while before I throw the bank at it.

    Hi, I just got a Tamiya Super Clodbuster kit and I'm curious what's a rough estimate on how many hours are spent building the chassis, wheels, tires suspension?
    Please let me know, Thanks Adam

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  4 года назад +1

      I spent may 3 hours over a few days building it. It was my first time assembling one of these.

    Tamiya is so good to the RC fans bringing back these oldies but goodies. And they made these in huge numbers so you can buy them everywhere. A Japanese company and doing most of their vintage cars again. But now look at AE, an American RC company who only re-released their gold tub and world's car and if you want 1 you gotta pay up the ass for it. In short, AE you suck and Tamiya rocks.

Great video, really like this truck from Tamiya,, I might get it one day. Could you put the USA 1 body on this if you found one?? anyway man take care ttys

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  4 года назад +2

      Things have been pretty good around here buddy. No real plans for Christmas yet, I am hoping for some snow this year too. This body is around 1/12 scale but just about any current crawler body will fit on this chassis easily.
