Tip from an old schooler RC'er that has done hundreds of custom paint job's.... To add the rust to the chromed bumpers, Hell anything chromed Take an Xacto blade and scratch off the areas you want the rust to settle into.... Then make scratches in different areas and directions to resemble scrapes and dings from RL driving... Makes it a lot easier to replicate & the rust lays perfectly after the scratching trick... Good lookin Clod you have made there brotha.... I am almost complete on mine... I did a retro early 90s body trim delete and a two tone paint scheme on mine it cameout pretty sweet

I’ve Been watching your Utube channel for about a year and half now and love your videos. Really enjoy your scale garage and information on Trail Trucks. I bought me a Clod Buster a couple of months ago. You can use Super Clean to take the chrome plating off. Just soak them in the solution over night and you will have clean plastic to paint on. I used it to take off the chrome on some Bruiser parts.

hey brotha, try sprayin the chrome parts with easy off oven cleaner, that will take the chrome right off and if you leave the easy off on for awhile it will "pit" the plastic like old rusty steel, then weather the parts. i did an old set of juggernaut wheels a few years ago and it worked great!

Very 80s colors, perfect! Those Testors paint pens are so great for detail work and interiors. The original and most famous Monster Truck ever is a Ford. ;) lol I'd say use some of the AK rust stuff on the shocks, wheels, and chassis. It'll make it match the body nicely I think.

I was thinking the same thing just use the ak stuff on the wheels shocks and chassis instead of changing it all

for the ( Clod Ruster ) idea what if you just do the C&R as stickers then just use a white paint pen to write the lod an uster in hand writing on the doors then lightly weather them with some weathering powder then satin coat over the lot
    C lod
    &
    R uster
love your rigs stay safe an lve your videos on some old hot rod rat rod style

1 more comment. Lol.. I just looked when u said the grill was painted with chrome or silver paint. I think if u painted the bumpers the same way, then put ur rush on them it would dull the new Chrome look down a bit and give u the look ur going for. But I still love the build and ur videos so keep them coming can't wait to see it ripping!

If there's a way to send and paint the rims black Or white I think that would look really good with ur rust paint

If you don't like the chrome why not strip it? Hot water and caustic soda will strip it off in no time. Then just finish it how you like. Still love these old trucks though.

I bought the Toyota Hilux and I already owned a clod Buster body surprisingly enough the Toyota Hilux it's like a tinted Chrome Smokey Chrome if they call it works perfect in the clod Buster mounts on the floor looks like a proper roll bar pretty cheap as well and you can buy it just by itself. It's my favourite Trail Truck Body I rented on the SCX10 it doesn't fit the Traxxas tx4 sport they made it to Big

Nice and messy, well, that never happens in your workshop...and about the Clod Buster project, may I suggest Wesmade, maybe he can help you out with a style appropiate, rustic logo stencil 👍

The partial good chrome makes it look like the builder spent all their money on making it a monster truck and didn't have any money left over for paint.

I like the build and I like everything that you do in your videos but I got to say that clod-buster body looks like you just took mud and smeared on it it does not look as good as any of your rat rods with the patina look I really do thank you need to wipe that brown stuff off and just make it a clean build. Or just put that rust in the cracks and or in any spot that a real truck would hold water and rust and also the chrome bumpers look to clean even with that Brown on them and the wheels and tires look too good to get the look that you're going for as a monster truck having sat in a field for 20 years.
