    This video transformed my tennis. I hit about 15 minutes a day, every day, wherever I am; parking garages, behind shopping centers, abandoned warehouses, wherever. The wall punishes power and rewards grace smoothness and consistency. Something I’ve always had trouble with. I put two pieces of tape for the net. One at 36” (for the cross court shots) and one at 42” for down the line.

      I also used to hit against a wall, maybe quite a unique one. It was inside my grandpas barn on his farm which had an inbuilt trough along the wall which happened to be roughly the height of a tennis net. Would spend hours practicing strokes and imitating Sampras, Goran and Becker’s serves 💕

      I really enjoyed the video and for the first time I feel, indeed Wall is going to be great Tennis partner. What I don't understand is the last drill on Overhead smashes hitting the ball under the line on the ground first. Practicing such likely to make players lose points in matches. So, what's the rationale behind the last drill? Kindly clarify.

    • @IntuitiveTennis
      @IntuitiveTennis  4 года назад +5

      @@TheBtrivedi, overheads are hit with close proximity to the net. Therefore the wall overhead drill accurately mimics the trajectory of the overhead.

    Another volley drill I started doing recently is getting on one side of it and walking down the wall while hitting either forward or backhand volleys. I do the same thing as well when alternating between the two. Helps me with both focus and coordination as I am hitting volleys while moving. Also is good at developing racket control / ball control as you have to place the ball really well to do this successfully.

      Honestly, I can say the wall has the biggest part of my tennis improvement.This is where i spent more time of my tennis practice.In fact all of my stokes was develop on the wall. There is a big wall of a ware house about 4km from my house. For 3 years from 2011, I ride my bicycle 3 to 4 times a week to reach the location of that wall and i spent 2 hours every session.You name it, topspin groundstokes, slice groundstrokes, volley, Serve, forehand overheads, backhand overheads, drive volleys, lobs, tweener.The wall does'nt get tired, doesnt complain, and it is absolutely free. If not every pro, i think 99% of the atp pro hit against the wall a lot of times especially on their younger years, thats for sure.. I am a self taugt player and i started tennis late at 33 years old.I only watch online instructions and apply it on the wall.Sometimes i bring a video camera to record my stokes.Now im already a strong 4.0 all court player mainly because of that wall and im proud of it.

  • @cambium0
    @cambium0 5 лет назад +30

    Yes I am a big fan of the wall too. All those benefits he mentions are real and you can really improve doing these drills. Caveat though: the wall does not hit with a lot of pace or spin like your better opponents do, and it's hard to practice high balls (I suppose you could do it but hard to keep the ball in court). Also you cannot practice hitting for position on the court, or hitting on the court at all for that matter. You'll get really good at mid pace balls below the waist, but really in a match you don't get a lot of those. You really can improve volleys, overheads, stamina and reaction time and basic stroke mechanics. And the wall is there for you whenever you are ready.

    Thanks so much , this is the most complete tennis video with all different ground strokes, good thing against the wall is that we can see how you hit it repeatedly much faster than against an opponent, no time wasted for viewers.

      Gordon, it is high intensity and challenging, but if you do it in shorter intervals with more rest it might work for you.

    I really wanna give this a try. I’ve always played against my house walls or even inside my garage but I don’t know where to find a wall like this one near me. When I look for them it just comes up with clubs

      Check at your public parks. I live in Puerto Rico and almost every public park here has them. Probally depends on weather you live in a temperate climate or not.

    I just started a week ago to do this and I will include the hit that's in the corner to bounce off the wall. I play for half hour and yes, it's a great work out!
