Ever since I shredded my pair of Iron Rangers, I've been in search of the best everyday boot money can buy. I ultimately landed on the JK Boots O.T. Bison and couldn't be happier. And don't just take it from me, Weston of @RoseAnvil ranked this as his #1 PNW boot.

Great video Taylor! Keep up the good work! John "JK" was a great employee when he worked at Nicks off and on from the mid 90's to 2008 learning the logging boot trade.
I still gotta try a pair of your guys boots so I can compare to whites and Jk. Your lead times is kinda why I haven’t yet to be honest. I’m the only person in my entire area I’ve seen with a pnw boot im trying to spread the word I can’t stand paying for/wearing junk
@@Lexidezi225 Sounds good! We have lots of Ready to Ship boots, and almost every model we make is offered in the Quick Ship category (8-12 weeks versus around 25-30 weeks). Keep up the great work!
I've been trolling the ready-ship pages for awhile now to snag s pair of boots that will get me in trouble with the lady, but based off my whites and jks I know it will be worth the headache haha.
Nick’s just could let the guy get his flowers, they had to chime in here to state that John worked for them first…..
@@toosorry2careyeah it’s not a good look.
Those are some Damn good looking boots 🔥🔥 Glad you like em' Taylor. Wear the heck out of em, don't hold back!
I bought a pair of their 300X series boots several months ago and am blown away by the quality and comfort. JK Boots are phenomenal.
That is awesome! Thank you so much!
Glad to see that you brought up boots. I bought my first good pair a little over two years ago. Don’t regret it a bit 👍
Love my JK’s!! 2.5 years strong and kickin!
Thanks for the shoutout man!
I have three pairs of JK boots. Two OT and one pair of Superduty. I love them. I’m a mobile welder and I’m hard on boots. JK boots are up the challenge.
Have my first pair of handmade custom boots on order with Txture in Indonesia. Been on order 5 months with 1 more month before they are scheduled to ship. Can't wait to get them. Been so long since I ordered them, ready to forget they are coming.
Glad you like yours. This was almost the exact boot I wanted. My dream boots basically. But now with recent knee issues from wearing pretty much only boots for 20+ years, I don't know that I'll ever end up getting a pair. Great production quality and loved the video. Just subscribed
All I wear is boots I have some whites with the arch support that are amazing. How can it hurt your knees?
@@Lexidezi225 I’m not sure the medical explanation, but when I wear the high heel and arch of a logger style boot I feel a lot of pressure and pain on my knees. Most of my years in boots has been low heel and cowboy styles so that’s what my body is used to I guess. Low heels like thorogood wedge soles, Georgia boots, or Ariat / Justin cowboy boots I wear all day with no pain, but I wear my loggers, which are my favorites and huge knee pain. I’m sure it’s part boot and part me getting old and I put alot of wear on my body with blue collar labor work
Great video Taylor, i really love American made knives and boots, awesome that you referenced Carls channel and rose anvil, i love your channel and there channels and Zach’s channel, some of my favorites. Keep up the great work. I’m gonna check out JK boots, I’m also looking at Nicks, whites and Truman boots. I wear red wing work boots for years , buying good boots even if they’re expensive you really do save money in the long run.
I have a narrow hill and a somewhat low arch ,,,,,,just got my JK Fore Front a few days ago, no hill slippage built like a tank. And was called by the company to make sure everything was fitting properly with in 2 days. That’s good customer service. ❤❤. It’s all good.
Nothing better feeling "Boots and going Commando"....yeah!
I have 2 pairs of Vasque Sundowners I’ve had for over 30 years that have been resoled several times. Good boots are like good knives.
I'm partial to White's and some Horrween chrome excel myself, but JK makes solid stuff! I know Rose Anvil also loved those boots too. The bison leather looks super cool even if it's not as versatile as a smooth pull up leather. Glad you got you some PNW representation!
I have a pair of whites and a pair of jk. I had to get the bison leather. Mine measured 4.8 mm thick!! But it’s so soft and a little stretch it’s insane. On the other hand their not made as uniform as my whites ramblers. My whites are flawless there isn’t one stitch out of place. Whites website is spot on with their sizing and JK can’t seem to get my fit right. I’m on the second pair and I may have to send them back not enough space left when lace them up like their for someone with a fat foot. Driving me nuts. Still a nice boot but I agree with you I’m partial to whites. Whites leather ain’t as thick work leather tho measured under 3 mm
Bison leather isn’t stretched when they tan it which is why it’s so thick and flexible. Rose anvil failed to tell us that
Love my JKs! Good choice!
Hi Taylor. Great to see videos on some new topics. I was wondering if you could do one on pants / jeans / shorts with dedicated knife / EDC pocket too .. something like Wrangler Riggs Workwear and ither options probably .. Thanks.
Those look worth trying out, for sure.
Recently found out about JK Boots...think it was also from Rose Anvil.
I live in boots, some 40+ yrs now. Whites, Nick's and Wesco...
LOVE the honey soles, but DAMN they wear FAST !
Love the Bison Leather.
I just looked on their website and they make station boots! I know what I want for my birthday.
Red Wing 3343 Blacksmith have been my everyday for several years now. Love them.
I’ve got a bunch of Red Wings too, and they are great boots. But, since getting some JK’s I hardly ever wear my Red Wings anymore. The quality difference between JK and Redwing is extremely vast. If you love boots, I’d encourage you to try a PNW brand, such as Nicks, Whites, or JK. They are all amazing and can do laps around Red Wings.
Huh, I live in Spokane and hadn't heard of them. I'll have to check them out.
I have the same leather, full smooth out bison Forefronts. The bison leather is crazy. Its stretchy, you can feel them stretch as you kneel and as youre driving and alternating gas/brake. My 8" OTs took a month to get the uppers formed to my ankles. The 6" bison forefronts took 2 days. Im going bison for now on
Love my Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill boots. Thinking Grant Stone is my next pair.
Weston is the man! I love rose anvil
If i hadn't been able to get an ND3 i would have gotten the JK OT bison rough out. Beautiful boot and perfect for my intended use.
I was set on a pair of Nicks to give my 10year old iron rangers a break.. now i really need to check these out! Tanks!
One of the pairs of boots Carl sent was Nick's and they were built very well. They were who I planned to buy from, but the bison leather was a huge game changer for me.
I love my superdutys and been looking at the OTs.
You can’t go wrong with a pair of Nick’s boots!
I have some bison leather cowboy boots. Absolutely incredible
It’s so hard to convey how good bison leather is …
Just ordered my first pair! I actually left it in my cart for a couple days and got a call from them asking if there was a reason and if they could help in any way and needles to say I have my first pair on the way!
I am a big Redwing fan ... They work for me but I might want to try JK ... Video Request - Update on your Ebike? ... I just ordered one and want to see your long term update
damn a rose anvil crossover episode
didn't expect that lol
JFC the sticker shock is wild. If I ever have money just laying around maybe lol.
I have OT JK boots as well they are great.
Yeah they look great, but most men in the construction world need water proof safety toe boots possibly insulated for outdoor winter use. What would you recommend for those hard working guys, including myself.
I knew it was going to be JK before I could even read the thumbnail. I'm getting a pair of OTs as well as soon as I can afford them!
Best commercial for something that’s not a commercial. (I mean that in the best possible way)
For duty boots I have been wearing Danner Patrol 6" for nearly ten years with no problems. For boots like you are describing I wear a couple different Red Wings.
Hate to say it but danners are junk nowadays. I used to like them but once you cut one open and see what your paying for it’s a rip off
Makes sense to me. Probably should have at least a couple pair of shoes/boots. I’ve always heard it’s better for your feet to switch it up at the end of the day.
Should try a pair of origin theyre excellent i work construction and destroy boots. I ran thro red wings, chippewa’s, carrhart. Ect but origins right from the box felt better in every which way. Definitely worth a shot and plus american made and uses american materials. I like the boot so much sometimes im scared of wearing them at work because i think im going to ruin them and so far they been holding up.
Im exclusive to Red WIngs, maybe ill give JK a try, thanks for the review.
That’s so great that you could have them be resold
Tried them all...For a boot that will take over 5 yrs. of abuse yet rarely costs more than two hundred dollars I found Wolverines are my choice. Great review, thanks.
Just took a look at their site at your recommendation. Prolly gonna buy a pair next time I need new boots. Thanks man.
What Wolverines boot do you have?
Yea you ain’t gettin a wolverine to last more than 6-9 months on my feet dude
@@Lexidezi225 I’m guessing you must have worked harder than me. I finally retired, so I have to plead, “No Contest.” 👍
It's about three times as thick as many mass market boots. It's about twice as thick as HHH which is what the Red Wing 875 uses.
JK’s are on another level.
What size width did you get on those boots?
Ive had my Bison forefronts for i think 8 mo. Love them, they are my goto boots for when it's time to play or work.
Definitely recommended to rotate your boots day to day w/ a second pair. It will make the leather last much longer.
I’d be interested in a pair of these, but at that price I’d be hard pressed to wear them to work lol. They look great though, and you can tell they’re made by quality craftsmen just by looking at them.
I have a pair of Danners for working at the shop and a pair of red wings for working outside. Both great boots for under 250. They last me 2-3 years generally.
I have a bunch of JK’s and please trust me, you can beat the shit out of them and they will laugh at you and ask “is that all you got”. No joke, they are tough as nails and only look better as they age.
I have three pairs and they take abuse! Amazing work boots. But I wear them casually too. Just dust them off.
Great video. I didn't realize you were a boot guy Taylor. I have almost pulled the trigger on JK's, Nicks, and Whites I like all these brands. I like JK's I think best they have a really good company backstory. Honestly what has stopped me from going ahead with any one them isn't the price. It is their not waterproof. I'm a CNC machinest I'm around coolant, hydraulic oil etc. plus snow and rain. I've been wearing 8" 1957 Thorogoods for about 3 1/2 years now and I do need a new pair. These boots have a thin liner in them making them waterproof without making your feet hot. I do like your boots. I think those kilties are rad looking.
Yeah, not waterproof but *resistant* with a good, regular oiling. For times I need waterproof boots, I wear Lems, but they're more like sneakers than boots.
It's always difficult to find good boots that I can wear. Due to where my work, my boots have to be static dissipative, which severely limits my options. I've tried out a few different pairs of shoes and boots from two different heavy working brands and just haven't been fully satisfied in long-term wear and tear.
I think the worst thing that everyone does with boots is recommend the Iron Rangers as the ultimate boot for just about anyone. I found my IRs so uncomfortable at a certain point, I couldn't take it. I now have a pair of JK Forefront boots and a pair of Nicks Robert boots - both are phenomenal. I also have a custom pair of Franks Ryker boots on order right now and I can't wait for those! The OTs have been on my list for a while, but I think my Franks will fill that role in my lineup. Great review, and love JK.
i think IR inner counter material does not beak in as well as leather. most shop in my country also does not stock E width for IR of my size. it took a good year of daily wear to properly break in to my foot. I'm fortunate that my foot width is between D and E . No more toe pinching after the break in and no more blister.
I’m between d and e as well. It’s frustrating with these companies. Which company was best at sizing you? It seems like frank and his fit sheet seem the best. I have some whites ramblers that are a d and their a little snug and some jk e that are too big I have to lace them completely tight. Thinking of trying some nicks or franks
@@Lexidezi225 While JK sizing is weird, using their sizing guide was perfect. Measured my feet according to their guide, and placed the order - perfect fit. Nicks sizing was a little more straight forward to a certain extent, but the boots are maybe SLIGHTLY narrow. My Brannock is 11E, so I ordered 10.5E from Nicks and probably could’ve gone with 10.5EE, but they fit pretty well. I bought them in CXL so the leather stretches a bit. I ordered my Franks in 10.5EE so we will see how those go.
Glad to hear it. I ordered a pair of their 300s, but they came too narrow. They gave me a gift certificate in the full amount that I haven't used yet. I'll check these out to replace them.
What width did you get?? I usually need to get extra wide for my right foot
@@danielq.4371 At the time I didn't see any measurement guides for foot width. In their new ordering forms they take that into consideration. Contact them,. and I'm sure they can accommodate for different for sizes in a single order.
I use shoes from LOWA and Polish Protektor. The best you can get
I really want to get some Nick's Boots. But I need to learn more before I pay that much on some boots. Also been looking at JK. Glad you made this video happy to watch it. Thank you Sir
Nicks, JK’s, Whites, etc are very similar in quality. They are all tougher than nails. One benefit of JK is that there’s a very good chance you will not have to wait as long to get them as you would with Whites and Nicks. I have all 3 brands and all 3 are incredible. JK’s get to you faster cause they aren’t quite as popular, but they are 100% every bit as good.
@@brandonin_ny thank you for the information really appreciate it
@@chrisdiaz7615 my pleasure. Whatever you end up getting you’ll love ‘em.
My main worry is fit I have no idea how to find the right size.
@@chrisdiaz7615 do you know your brannock size? What size do you wear in most sneakers? What size do you wear in Red Wing Iron Rangers, if you have some? For example, I normally wear size 10 in running shoes/sneakers. I wear 9.5 in iron rangers. My brannock is 9.5. My Jk size is 8.5 “average”. My Nicks size is 9E & 8.5EE (both sizes work. And, my Whites size is 9D or 8.5D (both sizes work). Most of the boot companies will assist you with sizing if you’re willing to go through their process.
Are those the 10" or 8"? Having trouble deciding how tall I should choose
I'd be curious to learn more about other clothing brands that earn your stamp of approval in this theme of EDC - like your jeans, etc.
Never heard of them before. I bookmarked their page. They have other models for $350ish.
Hey, I was wondering have you ever heard of this knife is it any good? Does anyone know where I can get? A leather are Kydex sheath made for this Gerber Stowe Fixed Blade Knife Black Micarta (2.5" Stone Wash)
I want an OT Bison without the jagged edge.
I just wish they made an engineer or chelsea. I moved away from laces years ago and never looked back.
Ship to Canada?
ordered mine a week ago, its killing me waiting for them (loggers)
I wear mine every day walk around 10-15 miles a day I have the super duty
Only question from me - are they waterproof?
Dangit I just bought some red wings
They are no longer offering the $100 discount for 26 weeks, so might as well take the 14 week option
This video started auto-playing, and before I looked at the video title, my brain thought I was hearing "boobs" instead of "boots"
Can we have a budget-friendly boot recommendation😎🤞
Good info. Wish I could afford something like that. Like a $400 flashlight. Oh well.
Check out our 300 and 300X models!
In the long run you end up SAVING $$$...
I have destroyed too many 1-200.00 via simple hiking/walking to go back to any of those.
Agreed on the flashlight...
Wish you would go over the jeans next.
👀
@@BestDamnEDC I looked and didnt find the brand or cut.
Chippewa boots, lasted at least 5 yrs
Should look at RM Williams boots out of Australia….
Anybody, thoughts on 300 for walking. (Retired)
Red wings all day 🪽🥾
0:25 you never felt like you found ... das boot ? :D I'll let myself out :D
“What are you wearing?”
“Sneakers… JK boots”
I love anything not made in China or other Asians countries, its makes buying anything so difficult because i always make sure im not buying from low quality sweat shops.
What about denim? Get yourself some iron heart, pure blue Japan, or samurai
Are these things waterproof? I need an actual work boot to work in and it needs to be waterproof. I'm in Florida and have a commercial landscape business. I am in mangrove swamps sometimes, doing tree work, and on the dunes at the beach. This time of year, thunderstorms will roll in for an hour and then clear out and everything is soaked, and I am standing in puddles. I want to buy good boots instead of replacing them every 6 months to a year, but I need waterproof, and I need them for work, not going out at night.
Nothing purely leather based will be waterproof. Just water resistant. You should look at synthetic boot materials and not hand made leather boots for water based jobs
After 40 years and many boots, this is the first boot I was willing to pay $600.00 for
Love my JK boots I can’t wear anything else
Good boots are not cheap at all.
Wolverine. Best tank boots ever.
Thought so until I got jk boots. Not in the same realm.
Dude a $600 they better be Knicks or White level boots.
Personally I love my Nick's Builder Pros. JK does make a good as does Whites, but I'll stick with Nicks.
Bro had to copy weston's homework 💀
Ariat rambler
My luck is bad ordering boots online and getting them to be the right size. Don't most people have this problem? How does JK size you?
I went in for custom fitting.
I’m thinking about creating a sizing chart based on existing shoes from other brands.
For example iron ranger my shoe size is 10.5D, nicks 10.5d, JK boots I’m a 9.5 3E
So basically if you fit in a 10.5 iron ranger comfortably a 9.5 3E will fit you in JKs
do you know any RUclips channels that talk about everyday boots?
Stridewise might be just what you're looking for. Nick is a funny guy and makes some enjoyable videos.
Out of these boots compared to Nick's boots
You said the iron rangers lasted 10 months, what if these don't even last that long?

Did you try Das boot
No. I don’t like salt water.
Yep, wasted $100 on a new pair of boots bought at REI, only to see them destroyed by light use after 3 years... If you're a man, get yourself a pair of REAL boots made in the PNW.

have some ots and nicks rangers....both great the nicks are a bit nicer but the ots are more comfortable....will last many years....bought a pair of thorogoods or redwings every year before these so these are cheaper in the long run
I only wear cowboy boots
