- Old school time folks! Here is a sound recording of the retired TMC CNG RTS from MTA Bus Company shortly after takeover of Triboro Coach and Command in 2006.This is bus #7160(ex TBC #G2060) on the B103.Cummins L10G is engine with ZF Ecomat Transmission
Although I never got to ride on these bad boys, but I recall seeing them alot in downtown Manhattan two years before 9/11. But overall I love the sound of these TMC CNG RTS buses, too bad they retired all of them, but there's one still sitting at the Spring Creek bus depot
Oh shit a full length video! Thank you!
As far as I'm concerned, those tilts were awesome.Only other bus to do it beside the Flxibles.
Wooo listen to that RTS TMC rebuilt engine! I miss these Buses I rode these models. The MTA original weren't rebuilt like these were but they sure had this engine sound! 😃🚌 🚌 Yee haw! 🤠🤠
That is not a rebuilt engine. That's a CNG engine
Such A Beautiful Classic! R.I.P.
@sebastienhenley TMC, not NovaBUS.
That was kind of bus. All it needed was a 4sp Auto like the others with that TURBO and i'm good.
Yes they do.Only on the M42 and only if its a sunny day.
Boy does she sound beautiful
8v71buses u
Nope. The only one that got saved was 4904 from Command but it never goes out. We don't even do rodeos anymore because the MTA claims they have no money for it.
Actually 7152 was the only one with that back. The rest were standard.
0:39. Varsity back yard. I worked there from 1989. Best job in the world!!
That's not the Varsity yard that was the Triboro Coach yard now LaGuardia Depot
The front was called the apron, the back yard was called varsity, because it faced varsity school bus company my friend.
Varsity used to be by the airport?
Yes my friend! That is why I said the back yard was called Varsity. They soon left, and went to another part of Queens, or even in Brooklyn. Not really sure my friend. It's a huge parking lot now for a rental car company.
Millennium just started reproducing the RTS WFD again, i don't think anybody bought any yet. I wonder what kind of powertrains they'll have. It'd be so weird to hear a Cummins ISL-G, ISL09, ISX12, or ISX12-G and a possible Allison B400R, EP40 Hybrid Drive, or ZF Ecolife transmission in an RTS
I don't like it either. I wish they were still around. I'd probably be working for one of them right now making more money. But truth is the NYCDOT didn't give a damn about the privates at all. That's why they had so many beat up buses. If they did care they might still be around.
@Bread And Circuses The monochrome of it all. Its no fun everything being the same and it's costing the MTA alot of money to run it than it should. If they were smart they should make it private again
Oh Ok. that sucks. our bus here in Dallas is similar. its a Nova RTS RTWFD-82L LNG. it has the HVAC on the roof of the bus, rather than in the back, and runs on LNG, rather than CNG. It has a Cummins L10, 280G engine and a ZF-ECOMAT %HP590. they sound almost identical, but there's a slight difference in the egine sound. It sounds BETTER to be honest. just go to google and look up the Nova RTS RTWFD82L
soon our RTS RTWFD82L buses are retiring being replaced by NABI LFW gen. iii buses.the newest 2012LFW. it will have an ISL G 280 and Allison B400r...but it will never be a cummins l10 280g or ZF-ECOMAT 5HP590 like our LNG RTS.. Now are diesel RTS have Cummins M11..ISM...DD50EGR.Depending on the year..the other LNG bus we have at DART Dallas is the 08WFD with a dd50G . all have ZF 5hp592c..5hp592...and 5hp590. the ones with the DD50s have the HVAC in the back.all other rtss hvacs are on the top
i AM finsihed!!!
Bus sounds great!! What year was it?
They could've replaced the CNG Tanks to these buses and kept them longer but I've heard about those bad tilts the RTS CNG's had.
I just don't the fact that they took over COMMAND and Triborough coach, then retired the RTS CNG's that they possessed... Although the XD60's are awesome.
oh and with an LACMTA style rear.....I'm done!
no this bus doesnt have an Allison transmission...it has a ZF-ECOMAT HP-590 Transmission
They are all retired
Have a problem with MTA Bus?
does New York still run these or is all of them retired?
Ugh MTA bus company -_-
