I was at a wedding in Henley on Thames at the Phylis Court Club. They have concerts every summer and it’s all on the opposite bank of the River Thames. I went outside and suddenly heard Shirley’s stunning voice. It gave me goosebumps.
That one composer could write this masterpiece AND "The Summer of 42," just stretches the imagination!♥
Michele Legrand loved Shirley's voice, and agreed to play the piano on her show when Shirley performed his song. For those who don't know, Michele wrote the music and Alan and Marilyn Bergman wrote the lyrics. Who wouldn't love Shirley's voice and amazing vocal abilities! Now 86 yo, she STILL has the ability to sing anything

IF you go by heritage and not birth place, Shirley is half English on her mother's side. Her mother Eliza Jane migrated to Wales before Shirley was born.

RIP Mr Legrand that was our wedding song.We met him in New York one evening at the Blue Note for his first performance in NY.I know he had probably heard that about What are you doing the rest of your life before,but now that he is gone I’m happy we let him know how special that song was and is for us.Our version is interpreted by Johnny Mathis ,however Ms Bassey brings a whole another dimension to the song.
