There's a weird "Spawn" (1997) vibe coming from these recent Sony Pictures CB movies. Like, kinda strange cheesenies. However, we can't forget that Balde (1998) was a R rated Marvel movie which really took advantage of its star, character, and adult rating. Not perfect, but it worked. Also, one of the greatest quotes ever, "There's always some mother fucker trying to ice skate up hill." - Wesley Snipes 😎 🧛👊
I can't believe Daniel Espinosa directed this film because his 2012 film "Safe House" starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds which was shot in South Africa was so good. It was such a character driven storyline with the backdrop of an action thriller.

Morbius was released in the UK today (31st March 2022) and i've seen it . The film was not amazing but I don't think it was unredeemable either . There are some good ideas that probably could have been fleshed out but I really have to give credit to the actors for not phoning it considering the material they were dealing with wasn't as fleshed out as it could have been . Matt Smith for me actually gave the stand out performance of the movie for me . In fact his performance made me wish that he had played Morbius instead of Leto. Not that Leto was bad he was serviceable I hought but Matt Smith stole the show for me in a pretty safe inoffensive by the numbers movie. Smith's villainous character was the most interesting character in the movie . The movie has one good big horror moment but probably doen't delve into this aspect often enough throughout film. Also for a film about a character who is a 'living vampire' or beomes one there is not a lot of blood in this movie probably because Sony (or should I say Avi Arad) wanted it to be PG-13. Maybe I just feel slightly more positive about Morbius because I had very low expectations due to reviews. The credit scenes are baffling . Also the music rips off Batman Begins at certain points
Wow, so majority of my fave critics and reviewers are giving this a pass. Perhaps Morbius is on the same vein as Affleck's Daredevil and the Chris Evans' Fantastic Four two movies. I guess its a streaming watch. On the background while youre at a bbq. Lol
If Michael Keaton (My favorite actor of all time) isn't in this, and the Spider-Man connections are really removed. Imma feel like I was false advertised to. And pretty upset. Cuz, morbius is a cool villain. But he isn't the top 10 of Spider-Man villains. And a solo film never made sense to me.. the first lost boys is a classic.
I really liked it, it doesn’t need to be a huge CG superhero fest like people are used to, I loved movies like Blade, The Crow etc. Obviously it’s the events of No Way Home that brought Keaton to the same universe, tbh I’m sure we’ll learn more about the Multiverse in Doctor Strange 2 & why characters are being moved about.
I will eventually get to watching this movie. aside from having a Doors song in the preview, It didnt look very appealing to me. The 3 Sony Spiderman movies w Tom Holland were just great. I'm happy to see you again! I really miss your reviews with Mark Ellis during the Schmoes era. I somewhat lost interest before due to the channel changes that happened.
Two years ago, pre-No Way Home, I saw Keaton in the trailer and said "This movie will set us up how we see Holland's Spider-Man interact with Morbius, Venom, etc". Thought this will be the next big, exciting vampire movie to see after all these years, building an already sky-high anticipation for Blade, seeing how to do PG13 vampires. Man, talk about setting you up for a fall. But I hold out hope for Blade being the MCU and all. Also, this movie is rated 15 here in the UK (our R rated equivalent), and the reviews came out the exact day of release. Might as well have went for the rated R standard for the US and flesh out the story of Michael's conflict becoming a vampire.
I’m starting to feel so bad for Leto. He got screwed with that Joker he played and now Morbius is getting bad reviews…poor man can’t catch a break, at this point just leave the comic book movies alone man
Well tbf its not like he was not involved in creating the weird Joker, in fact I often feel no one tells Letto what movie they are making and he just does his thing, which is why he often feels like not part of the movie at all.
I've seen Jeremy jahns review on it and now yours Kristian and from how u both describe it its basically a 90s cheesy marvel movie that's bad but u can still somewhat enjoy it I guess, cause thats how I felt with both the Venom movies, the only way I could enjoy them films is not to look at it as say an Avengers or Spider-man No Way Home film but more the old 90s cartoons or like Ben Aflecks Daredevil film ect which I'm ok with
I booked my ticket for tomorrow around 6 pm. From the reviews I am seeing, I think the film suffers from "Identity Crisis" not sure which universe it belongs to since it borrows references from the Ramiverse and Webbverse. Someone leaked the post credit scene via twitter and not spoiling it but what I suspected is what's playing out but still disappointed with all the marketing they did and now they are kind of lying to the audience and kind of basically saying "April Fools" as it comes out on April fools day lol.

It should be part horror and a story of fighting addiction like a opioid addict. It forced him to kill for blood. Being a living vampire making him inhuman every night. If we have a story about identity disorder in Moon Knight how about blood addiction. Not a hero or a villian.
I don’t get why Sony has to turn every spider-man villain into an antihero? Can’t the villains just stay villains. On another note the story I thought was very lacklustre due to making him an antihero. I wish they would have just made the 90’s spider-man the animated series two part storyline in live action
To be fair, Venom and Morbius were turned into anti-heroes in the comics fairly early on. Now where Kraven’s concerned? Yea Idk wtf they’re doing there
With how long this was delayed its pretty amazing that in the year 2022 they are making the same mistakes they've made with past movies. I know Venom did great in the box office but I'm not a big fan of either one of them. They're OK, but not great (IMO obviously). I keep hearing this has pacing issues and poor cgi. How was that stuff not tightened up in the 2 years this was delayed? Blows my mind.
Also, the fact that they made it seem like this was tied in to the spiderverse and then completely backed out of that right before its release.....that's just weak sauce.
I’ve haven’t been pissed off at a comic book movie since X-Men Last Stand. This might have to be a hard pass. I’m starting to see and feel those signs. Thanks for the review Kristian, I might have to watch the spoiler review.
I originally got my ticket for the 1st show on Thursday. I then cancelled it last week as a friend of mine saw it, and said, Unless you want to, see it. But I'd wait for AMC $5 Tuesday or wait for cable bc this is not good, a bigger mess, and the post credit scene's are the worse one probably ever put to screen. PLUS, as you noted Kristian, re that alley scene w the SM "Murderer" painting, my friend said, and like I've seen, basically everything in the trailer re that, Michael Keaton, the OsCorp building and other nuggets that had in the trailer that relates to the larger Sony-verse, Spider-verse, and MCU was REMOVED from the movie! So fans hoping to see how it ties into the "grander scheme" of thing's...was a scheme in itself! DOH!
Oh dear I’ve got a ticket for tomorrow I’ll go and watch it but with very low expectations loved the review Kristian hopefully I’ll still have a bit of fun at least like I did with venom 🎥🤷🏻♂️🤞
@@TheKristianHarloff the first 15 minutes was good then it pooped after that I’m afraid very dissapointed which has made me not as excited for Kraven the Hunter as I was before this movie 🎥 I hope Sony get it right for that just don’t get why they hired a screenplay writer who had a trash back catalogue of films…
As per usual great review Kristian, the movie was ehh just like venom. **SPOILER** So my interpretation of the end credits… Keaton got stuck in the ‘venom verse’ which has Garfield, and Leto’s characters in it. Thoughts?
I think you will enjoy RRR movie, please watch it, it has all things need to be in the perfect movie. Besides if spiderman can shoot web through his hand then indian hero can lift motorcycle. You will understand what I meant. Just watch RRR movie.
I think Sony knew they had a stinker on their hands, so they removed all of the Spider-Man tie-in stuff. Don’t want this tainting their money maker. I’m curious as to why they made a Morbius movie. I can’t see him in a movie with Tom Holland or Andrew Garfield, it’s too weird. I know he’s in some Spider-Man comics, but that’s a different medium.
Not surprised it was going to be meh. Not looking for a masterful Vampire movie. Just want to turn off the old tinker above and get entertained so ill still watch it tomorrow.
I'm fine with the 90s throwback vibe Sony's been doing lately, but I'm concerned that it'll feel watered down, like it was supposed to be R-rated. Based on what Jeremy Jahns was saying in his review, it sounds like that's what happened. Tom Rothman apparently hasn't learned anything from when he ran Fox. Forcing PG-13 edits on R- rated movies and cutting longer running times to an hour and a half to an one hour and 45 minutes is exactly the shit he used to pull over there and the movies suffered because of it. I don't know how that moron keeps getting put in charge of movie studios. Before you know it, Disney will probably have to also buy Sony to save it from him. Don't get me wrong, I still want to see this, but my expectations are low.
Does holding an embargo so close to a movie's release date work for or against studios when it comes to a bad movie? Does that actually get butts in the seats and make them a profit? Movie watchers are a lot smarter now and I'd think such a close-call of an embargo tells us that the studio isn't that confident in the film. To me, it makes me worry about it more and want to see it less.
Obviously that’s a major red flag to discerning moviegoers, but the average person who just see’s a trailer and thinks “cool” probably doesn’t give a shit.
Well I'm a type of moviegoer that if its at least entertaining then it has some value to it. For example Venom crappy movie but still a good popcorn flick regardless the bashing it receives.
Ben affleck and Jared Leto can’t catch a break when it comes to comic book movies lol.I was hoping this movie would at least feel like a 2011 comic book movie but shit 2007 is bad lol.
Don't you think movies are beginning to get really repetitive, and samey..When I grew up we had origional films like Predator, terminator, Aliens, Ghostbusters, Goonies... Movies today are getting so generic.. dont get me wrong there are some great new movies,, but the diversity of choice on offer is very slim pickings.
It’s funny because Sony don’t give asf because as long as marvel keep making a billion dollars Spider-Man movies, this Sony universe is still gonna keep going 😂😂💯💯 I’m very interested to see how Sony finish this universe 💯💯
I'm sure someone will just upload it on RUclips. That way you won't have to waste your time with this horrible movie just to see how bad the post-credit scene is.
Nobody is dying to see this movie it looks made for stream service. You could've Spoiled but I'm glad you didn't. Every villain doesn't need a movie. I wonder since it's about bats they had Michael Keaton cameo. 🤔
Big ups to Sony for keeping the mid 90s - early 00s superhero genre alive. Can’t wait for a mediocre Kraven movie

It should be part horror and a story of fighting addiction like a opioid addict. It forced him to kill for blood. Being a living vampire making him inhuman every night. If we have a story about identity disorder in Moon Knight how about blood addiction. Not a hero or a villian.
True
I don’t get why Sony has to turn every spider-man villain into an antihero? Can’t the villains just stay villains.
On another note the story I thought was very lacklustre due to making him an antihero. I wish they would have just made the 90’s spider-man the animated series two part storyline in live action
To be fair, Venom and Morbius were turned into anti-heroes in the comics fairly early on. Now where Kraven’s concerned? Yea Idk wtf they’re doing there
Curious what Sony does next.
Why do so many people hate slow motion in movies? Everything is more dramatic in slow motion. Well, most things....
Haha
With how long this was delayed its pretty amazing that in the year 2022 they are making the same mistakes they've made with past movies. I know Venom did great in the box office but I'm not a big fan of either one of them. They're OK, but not great (IMO obviously). I keep hearing this has pacing issues and poor cgi. How was that stuff not tightened up in the 2 years this was delayed? Blows my mind.
Also, the fact that they made it seem like this was tied in to the spiderverse and then completely backed out of that right before its release.....that's just weak sauce.
Lots of mistakes for sure!
I’ve haven’t been pissed off at a comic book movie since X-Men Last Stand. This might have to be a hard pass. I’m starting to see and feel those signs. Thanks for the review Kristian, I might have to watch the spoiler review.
I saw the movie already tell you the truth I want to leave and there were still 40 min left
@@lucianotecuanapa9853 lol 😂 Damn, that bad. So sorry.
Thank you
Sony milking the “Is this going to somehow connect to Spiderman or the MCU” dollars
Poor marketing strategy
Ya
Can't wait for Madame Web now! 🤓
:0
Good honest review as always
Thank you
I originally got my ticket for the 1st show on Thursday. DOH!
This one came and gone
So it’s a throwback to 04. Interesting
Let me know what you think
@@TheKristianHarloff yep. Great review Darth Harloff !
too bad. going to see it tomorrow so hopefully theres some cool scenes at least. Still looking forward to Kraven
Fair
I guess Coy will explain it to you. I’m seeing tomorrow “just cause” but I’m not too excited.
Did you like?
@@TheKristianHarloff actually I had to cancel for work. Never got to it.
There is supposed blade movie in the future so Morbius could be beginning of the whole vampire thing in mcu. Just a thought.
Could be
Oh dear I’ve got a ticket for tomorrow I’ll go and watch it but with very low expectations loved the review Kristian hopefully I’ll still have a bit of fun at least like I did with venom 🎥🤷🏻♂️🤞
Did you enjoy?
@@TheKristianHarloff the first 15 minutes was good then it pooped after that I’m afraid very dissapointed which has made me not as excited for Kraven the Hunter as I was before this movie 🎥 I hope Sony get it right for that just don’t get why they hired a screenplay writer who had a trash back catalogue of films…
Would you consider it a good bad movie?
No
I think that's Eiza Gonzalez? Is it not? Actually I just looked up the cast. Wow they look like sisters.
Ya she is in Andor
I think I'm gonna enjoy watching man bat even though it's a bad movie. I didn't enjoy The Batman but I know it's a good movie
Fair
@@TheKristianHarloff I didn't like morbius, is was unexceptional in every way.
For me it was a "omg get me out of the theatre" lol, thank God it was only 90mins
Fair
yeah
Word
Yup ...and oh god Kraven the hunter is next
Seems like it
Critics said Venom was terrible before it came out, and that movie ended up being great. Let's see if they're wrong about Morbius, too.
Doesn't seem to be the case there.
I wasn’t excited for mobius to begin with. I’m definitely not seeing this in the theater.
Did you see?
"A vampire in a life less story", Jeremy Jahns review and the rating, Dogpoo.
Sounds like Mr. Harloff thinks some what the same.
True, he and I are usually on same page.
Your face in the thumbnail says it all my friend.
True
Morbius = The Next Shawshank Redemption
Hahah
I’m watching it tomorrow with a few of my boys hopefully we can enjoy something
Did you enjoy?
@@TheKristianHarloff shockingly yessir
As per usual great review Kristian, the movie was ehh just like venom.
**SPOILER**
So my interpretation of the end credits…
Keaton got stuck in the ‘venom verse’ which has Garfield, and Leto’s characters in it. Thoughts?
I apprecaite that!
i love BLADE the real first Marvel black character 🤘😎🤘
Love it also
I think you will enjoy RRR movie, please watch it, it has all things need to be in the perfect movie. Besides if spiderman can shoot web through his hand then indian hero can lift motorcycle. You will understand what I meant. Just watch RRR movie.
Which one?
I think Sony knew they had a stinker on their hands, so they removed all of the Spider-Man tie-in stuff. Don’t want this tainting their money maker. I’m curious as to why they made a Morbius movie. I can’t see him in a movie with Tom Holland or Andrew Garfield, it’s too weird. I know he’s in some Spider-Man comics, but that’s a different medium.
Not great
Not surprised it was going to be meh. Not looking for a masterful Vampire movie. Just want to turn off the old tinker above and get entertained so ill still watch it tomorrow.
True
Points are on point
Why can’t Sony just let the MCU use there characters like they do with Spider-Man?? Why they trying to do this weird thing
Trying to establish their own thing I guess.
@@ryoku79 I’ll watch something if I’m interested in it, bad reviews, embargo or not. Venom wasn’t that good IMO, but I liked the sequel a lot.
Usually tells the story
Havent heard “show a little class” lately
Want to get the shirt back up!
Sony's Marvel movies is that little brother that you have to bring along to the party because mom forced you .
True
Better than Captain Marvel, Eternals, Black Widow, Ant Man 2, Black Panther, Iron Man 3
Dammmmmmm
Ben affleck and Jared Leto can’t catch a break when it comes to comic book movies lol.I was hoping this movie would at least feel like a 2011 comic book movie but shit 2007 is bad lol.
Haha
What happened to Schmoeknows channel?
It is the Schmoedown channel! Go check out Friday Night Titans!
Sounds like they should have called it Lessius.
Ha
She's on 9 Underground with Ryan Reynolds
She is great
Don't you think movies are beginning to get really repetitive, and samey..When I grew up we had origional films like Predator, terminator, Aliens, Ghostbusters, Goonies... Movies today are getting so generic.. dont get me wrong there are some great new movies,, but the diversity of choice on offer is very slim pickings.
The format for sure.
Its been revealed that all the spider man references in the trailer were just a bait and switch lie
Yup
I’m seeing it on the 1st in IMAX, hoping to find some enjoyment out of it… even tho I’m not a fan of Jared Leto’s acting
Hope you liked it
@@TheKristianHarloff I passed on it bro, gonna wait for home vid.
Lmaoooo Harloff is so funny with his description…but yeah the movie should of just been a stand alone, that way nobody cares.
Hahah thanks
Another Sony “Spider-Man” movie. Another dud. I just want to cry
:(
So, no spiderman 😕 in the movie
Nah
There's a common theme with these Sony Pictures Spider-man movies... AVI ARAD.
True
It’s funny because Sony don’t give asf because as long as marvel keep making a billion dollars Spider-Man movies, this Sony universe is still gonna keep going 😂😂💯💯 I’m very interested to see how Sony finish this universe 💯💯
Does seem like not a lot of love in it
Everyone saying how bad the post credits scenes are almost makes me want to watch it😂😂😂😂
I'm sure someone will just upload it on RUclips. That way you won't have to waste your time with this horrible movie just to see how bad the post-credit scene is.
So bad
Not going. I'll see it eventually.
Did you see it?
@@TheKristianHarloff Nah, not yet but I've seen 'Everything Everything All At Once' twice, Massive Talent and The Northman. All super good.
Venom works because people love Venom so they will eat up a mediocre movie.. but no one knows Morbius so Sony can't get away with another crapfest
I believe that, but sadly, some people will still buy into this.
Agree
I expect to be fine thats it
Fair
Nobody is dying to see this movie it looks made for stream service. You could've Spoiled but I'm glad you didn't. Every villain doesn't need a movie. I wonder since it's about bats they had Michael Keaton cameo. 🤔
Thanks!
