My 2015 was built in the Fort Wayne plant. Never had to take it the dealer for any repairs. Great job ladies and gentleman at the plant.
The way you wrote it makes it seem you don't have it anymore? Still pretty new so it shouldn't need unnecessary repairs yet.
@@pryme2013 Still have it and plan on keeping it. I use my half ton as a truck not a mall queen. Hell mine has a V plow. Lol
So was my 2017. Not one issue so far either.
Same here! 95,000 trouble free miles on my Silverado!
Weird I have a 2016 and had to take it in the shop 3 times due to faulty modules and bad exhaust issues
My 2003 GMC Sierra was built at the Fort Wayne Plant, at nearly 18 years old it was the best vehicle I have owned in my entire 50 years of driving. Thank you so much and God Bless America!
Sometimes videos don’t need music. This is one of them
_especially_ that sh1t music.
2016 silverado double cab, built in Fort Wayne, going strong nearly 4 years now, never been to the dealer once. Thank you guys!
Iive 8 miles from the plant. Toured twice. Three of my neighbors work there.
Go Fort Wayne !
My dad retired from Fort Wayne plant after 35yrs.He started out in Saint Louis and moved to Indiana. He installed the seven screws that hold the dash in.
My trucks dash screws fell out, I wanna speak to your dad asap!!!
@@pryme2013 Seems he screwed up 😂
Those are heavy duty screws. But my GMC 1995 was made right here in Wisconsin.
Dan Hambrick did your did build corvettes or trucks?? I think they built the fist gen cavilear?
That sounds incredibly depressing idk how people work in these factories
I live north of Fort Wayne. The GM plant has been an important part of the community since it opened in the mid 80's, not long after we lost the Harvester plant. Glad they are here.
jagsfanrick leaving America is part of gm plan to keep on producing trucks unfortunately I won’t be buying any foreign trucks so Toyota take my money
@@americansniper1641 you do realize the profits still go to Japan no matter what country Toycrap is made in
Robert Richardson toyocrap 😂 profits stay here because the workers are here in the USA spending their money here in the 🇺🇸 not in China like gm workers lmao we are witnessing the death of GM
@@americansniper1641 Leave it up to a BITCH!!!
@@americansniper1641 the end profits after employees and electricity and all other Bill's are played go to Japan. If they didn't they couldn't keep any of their plants open.
My 2018 2500 HD came from Fort Wayne! The truck is mint, no rattles, squeaks, or leaks. The 6.0 although not the greatest on fuel is a great engine, I would buy this truck again.
@@mctigmctiggy1475 I agree 100%, I have also had diesel trucks as well. While the 6.0 will never be able to tow like a diesel, it still effortlessly rips down the freeway with 11,000 going 70 smooth as butter. The suspension is also incredible for a 2500, firm but not harsh. Like you said, if you don't pull north of 20k regularly, the gas trucks are the practical choice. I am really curious about Ford's new 7.3 gasser, the thing looks like it will do well.
@@mctigmctiggy1475 Mine came with the 6L-90, it seems descent, could use some tuning to firm up the shifts a bit.
@Xx BigBoss xX That goes without saying. My '94 K2500 came from Fort Wayne as well, it has 385k on it and it still runs great, -I would buy that one again too.
Ratman572 buy American save a job.
Ratman572 you’ve bought a truck and your complaining about fuel.. stfu please
Great Vid, great idea! Several years back, I went on a tour of the Rough Plant in Michigan, was awesome! I really like this Vid. Great to see Americans making a great product.
Mine was born at Ft Wayne in Feb. 2009. The most trouble-free car or truck I've ever owned.
Gotta love competition and free enterprise, that’s how we end up with great products and services.
I worked in a GM plant for two years during college. I still find it fascinating to watch the build process. One of the neatest things about the plant I worked in is that it had 2 sets of railroad tracks that ran right through the main building. Parts were delivered on the trains and we would unload them inside the building with forklifts. I still remember what it was like to open those train doors with the tip of my fork. It was a cool job.
Can you get me a gms code ?
i also was in such a Plant, but in Germany, from the German Truck Manufacturer MAN (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg) it was very interessting seeing the Parts / Engine / Frame etc. getting together!
The 86 GMC reminds you of a time when Trucks used to be tools rather than a luxury item.
This is 2019, they can be both
You can buy a base unit.
I have a 2015 single cab long bed with crank windows and an infotainment system that is literally only radio
@@spengg_shell tough being a "tool" with the 5 foot beds they have today.
You can still get it with a 8 foot box.
I’m a Ford guy but this is a great video seeing American men and women working on an assembly line. As far as people knocking the problems they may have it’s sure not the people on the lines problems. Thanks again for an inside look at what makes America keep going our men and women hard at work
You should see the videos of the f150 plant, it's a faster line and alot of the workers have weight reduction exo suits to make there job feel weightless and thus leaving the workers less fatigued. It's quite impressive.
No body cares if a vehicle is messed up going down the line wether its ford ,ram or gm. All 3 are junk
I have a 1992 Chevy GMT-400 and still runs really good. I love chevy and always will. Great video!
I have been with the Arlington, Texas assembly plant for 42 years, it started production right at the beginning of 1954 and you can tell the age difference it the two plants, the Fort Wayne one is soooooo much cleaner. We build around 410 per shift/3 shifts per day/6 days per week and sometimes 7 days a week......just over 1,200 Escalades, Yukons, Tahoes and suburbans per day.
My 1990 Silverado was built there .
20 year truck .
Thank you -
gringo grande that’s great:
I should kept it -
305 turbo 400
Could put $10 k
In it had a great truck.
But Cali smog -
I had about 200000mi
gringo grande yes mine had that sticker also.
But it was last year for turbo 400.
Did your 700r last ???
My buddy had same year with 700r and his trans went out .
20 year later China Motors , General Motors with U.S bailout Chinese make parts .
yote you’re sentenced to a yota fer life -
Hey I work there!!!! Bummed I missed you guys!
brown ring69 you shouldn’t be building any trucks u lazy stoner
I am proud to have the Fort Wayne sticker on my truck and was so relieved it wasn't from Mexico...I took some heat due to the fact I'm from Canada and they are shutting down one of their plants here. I'm very impressed with my Trail Boss
Thank you for your service. I am enjoying my trail boss. God bless you and your coworkers
Can you get me a Gms Code?
So you build trash huh
Nice video. Thanks for the insight!
So cool. Thank you for taking the time to make this kind of content. I love the TFL gang!
Thanks for showing this! I just purchased a new Silverado and now I know how it's made!
I currently work at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN where we make the Atlas and Passat. Nowhere near as large as this operation, but still pretty cool to see how different vehicles are made.
How is the quality assurance, are there germans overseeing anything or is it just a crappy product you are making. No offence of course.
@@Horizon301. there are germans around, and at times they call in more people from Germany. Most of the time we have our own quality people in my area that follow a fugenplan (measurement chart for body panels).
Would be nice if you guys produced even more vehicles there. Good to see jobs like that in the US regardless of make.
John Hale, II ah that’s interesting. I hear that the VW’s in the US etc aren’t as good as the ones here. I assume they build to a different price point given the costs of manufacturing over seas.
That is why “ Professional Grade” is just marketing. They are the same truck!
Nicholas Livoti do you know what “grade” means? It means a higher level of quality. Same plant, different parts. A simple example would be knife manufacturing - different knives can be made on the same assembly line, one using an aluminum blade one using high quality stainless steel. Similar in appearance but different grade of material. Same concept here. Being made in a different plant would make no difference at all.
@@Encourageable its the same truck. yall are so stupid for thinking its much different because it is not. same engines same transmissions same computers same modules that you can get on chevy. the only difference is the look.....that's it!you can get a silverado ltz or high country and its the same as a denali !!! just different colors!
@Xx BigBoss xX Only difference is GMC's get extra chrome ... and the fancy two step tailgate ...that I guess is professional grade and they can charge you extra for that ... The Flint Mi plant makes them as well.. but more work trucks come out of Flint...
I have found that the GMC's hold up better over time then the Chevy's. Yes the interiors fall apart in both of them, but I have a friend that retired from the UAW back in the 90's and he says GMC's have a couple more reinforcement spot welds on the frame, better door insulation, and I may be mistaken, but I recall him saying that GMC's had a thicker firewall for noise reduction. My GMC is going on 25 years old in 8 months (historic plates here i come :) ) and after YEARS of owner ship, I see more GMC k1500's on the road, then Chevy K1500's.
I’ve never heard GM say they were not similar but they have many different parts and are equipped differently.
that very first piece put into the frame was not the transfercase... thats the front diff..
UncleBubbles was gonna say the same lol
Are built with a lot of plastic in glue and foreign made parts
I noticed that immediately. Left my own comments as well. 😁👍
I've owned 3 GM pickups that have been assembled in the Flint Michigan plant, a 2003 Silverado 2500hd, a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500hd and now a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 2500hd. They've all been amazing pickups and the only out of pocket repair I've had so far was an A/C senor that cost me less than $50 to have replaced.
My wife's 2015 Yukon was assembled in Arlington Texas plant and so far it has been a great family SUV for us. I honestly don't get all the hate GM receives and the comments and bad reliability because I've been as satisfied as I can be with GM products. I've even got an old square body I'll pass down to my son someday.
The GMCs are just beautiful.I want one.
You didn't even get to see the best areas of the plant, Body Shop, Paint Pre-treat, and the Paint mods. Easily the coolest part of the process. I've been a proud UAW Local 2209 member at FWA for 22 years. Journeyman millwright since 2005.
Quick question can you give me a lame mans term of a millwright, is that jist an industrial mechanic, here in the Houston area millwrights are in high demand at refineries/chemical plants, i really dont know what a millwright does, Thanks God Bless
@@luisvilla799 at GM, millwrights do all mechanical repair, metal fabrication, rigging and some structural erection. We don't do any plumbing as we have pipe fitters for those jobs.
@@scottmassey5141 my father-in-law was a GM pipe fitter. He's a good man and a great pipe fitter.
Drove my Chevy to the Levy.
Nice video. Thanks. Did a tour of the Dearborn Ford F-150 assembly plant a few years back. Just amazing to see.
I work 3rd shift there!
It is nice to see GM half ton crew cab production is actually taking place at Fort Wayne. Sure, parts can come from all over the globe, but it makes me feel patriotic to get a VIN with the USA "1" code.
Gary Blatt, same here and when the VIN begins with “2” Canada Code. I will never buy a vehicle when the first digit of the VIN is “3”.
United states uses more than a "1"
USA = 1,4 and 5
@@vinceclark6164, GM has had a plant in Mexico since 1965, so get over yourself
@@anthonywebber2211 yeah but ive owned 3 gms. the first 2 were from us and the 3rd is a Mexican. the first 2 had a lot less stupid issues. the doors sealed right and the panels were on properly. my mexican gm i had to adjust all the doors since none of them sealed and my bumper was improperly installed
Those robot have families to take care of, glad they found a job. Surly pickup trucks produced today are stronger, will last longer, and require less upkeep than a 50's or 60's model and be more reliable for years to come than trucks built by humans. Thank you robots!
Actually a really good video. Would LOVE to see more content like this from you guys! I used to have a GM SUV that I miss every day and would love to see a factory video of those babies being built. It's probably very similar though lol.
Awesome video, thank you!
Great video! Pretty amazing watching everything that’s happening in the plant.
I am a uaw member and I am proud of it and I work at truck/bus long back in the 70s
I’ve fallen in love with some of these new trucks
This is great to watch. Have a 2023 Silverado scheduled to be built the week of December 12th.
My dad recently transferred to the Fort Wayne plant and I haven't gotten to see it yet, thanks for uploading :)
We actually build around 430 per shift, so closer to 1300 per day.
Proud to say that my truck (2000 Silverado) was built there. Love the old GM vehicles, not a big fan of the new ones though.
wow thanks for making this one!
Makes me wish I could take delivery of another new Silverado Steve, thanks for the tour.
Thats amazing
Thanks for sharing. Well produced video. I toured the Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Alabama. The assembly process is almost exactly the same. The doors are installed during initial assembly and painting then removed for worker convenience. I don't remember the Hyundai tour being an hour and a half long. I would really like to go up to Indiana and see that assembly plant since Chevy and GMC are all I ever owned. The GMC trucks look good, but the Chevys have...well and interesting front clip.
I am driving a 2019 silverado from there. Don`t get me wrong I`m a GM guy all the way. My truck broke down in the lumber yard here in Oshawa with only 1500 kms on it. Fuel pump lol. Love the new truck the new design is amazing just traded my 2017 in. Also its great they can make so many a day but apparently they cant get them out of the yard. My hometown dealer says he has been paying on trucks he ordered that the plant cant get to him because they are blocked in. Too bad they don`t make them here anymore. Better then Mexico though.
I was looking online at new 2019 Silverado 1500s, and I noticed that the majority were made in mexico. I also noticed that because of tarriffs, the prices on the mexican made silverados were higher. I hope when I buy a new truck it will be one made in the US.
@Gee Gee you buy some lip balm
I live only 5 min from there. So cool there made close to home 👍
Why the hell are the prices so dam expensive
Because the extended warranty - they have to charge double wholesale price.
Warranty & the UAW union.
Less than 1% of a trucks cost is from paying the employees that work at that plant. On average it's around $450 per truck produced. Sorry Mark, but you're just wrong.
Because its 2020
the Corvette factory is cool to tour. I was fortunate enough to go on the tour during the second anul Corvette home coming at the Corvette museum.
Very cool video!
this is amazing to see how the trucks are being built. Next let's see the ford assembly in oakville ON please. Great job!
Such a cool video!
That was cool man 😎👍
silverados and sierra together one behind the other in the production line, nice. Good video, congrats
Very interesting and amazing.
I work at the Subaru assembly plant in Lafayette and it is fascinating to see how other manufacturers assemble cars
A very enjoyable look at pickup truck production. The size of the facility is stunning, too. I'm just disappointed over one aspect of this fine video, not one red or blue truck go married. Lol.
You ought to watch the documentary(ies) on the Ford River Rogue Complex. It's insane.
Good Stuff thanks Mike
Going on 12 years now building suvs for Gm in Arlington Texas! Looks just like our plant lol
Jeremy Freedom The Arlington, TX plant build the Suburban, Tahoe and Escalade, doesn’t it? I have an ‘08 Suburban. Are the trucks made in Arlington only for the American market or are they also made for the Canadian market? I’m in Canada so I’m hoping it wasn’t made in Mexico.
Yea all those and the Yukon. Yea we build for everywhere. Were the only plant that makes the big SUVs since they closed the Wisconsin plant. We export all over the world
Thumbs up for my home town plant. I actually live a few miles from this plant.
7:13 Even with that number being built, when we as average Joe's get one of these vehicles , it feels so special to us for many years. Thanks to all of those that make the Sliverado a great vehicle. I'm still loving my 2015 White Regular Cab WT V6.
How bout they make a bit less but make them last so they can be reliable
Then buy a Toyota lol
Love Chevy but man has corporate greed hurt the brand and more importantly, the workers
The worker's are fine. For years they made big $ to make a terrible product. The drinking, drugs and sleeping on the job has made the CEO's go eles were.
GM has the highest paid automotive line workers in the US and is 2nd in the world, Mercedes is first. I'd say GM is doing great with how they pay and take care of their workers.
That old sandwich architecture hasn't gotten old.
I think most factories still need people for eyeballing fit and finish on trim.
Why why why.. is their always some sort of background music.... no need for that.. the contest is fire... no need for music
Awesome bro
Hey my truck was build there he’ll ya American made ✌️ you guys are the best you guys rock 🎸✌️👍🏼🌎😎

My 2001 proudly has the Ft Wayne label. Over 275K she still runs like a top! Merica!
It’s all built at the same place and yet we still can’t get a 6.2L in a regular cab short bed in the U.S.
@Dale she is a greedy money hungry
I would to see an L5P in that config, now that would be sweet!
Exactly you can get the 3.5 ecoboost in any configuration.
You can't buy a new regular cab short box in the US period. They just don't sell enough anymore, a normal business decision.
My double cab rally 2 LT Z71 2018 was built in fort Wayne. 0 issues working hard every day now with 42 000km. (yes I'm in Canada eh). My next one will be a Crew cab RST regular box 3.0 duramax. Do we know where this configuration will be built?
What a cool video
Crazy how dialed in they have it....2019, 2020 and 2021 GM trucks I have owned all built at this plant....no problems so far......and I do not like going back to dealer
Drove thru dealers lot yesterday, $60k sticker is double what it's worth.
What, can't you afford that?
I hope you all do some more videos like this
So cool. My father in law and i would pull the cab off and box and flip the frame over for restoration without drivetrain in. And then put it all back together.
Awesome video, thank you. (The torturous drum-beat music notwithstanding)
I absolutely LOVE videos like this. Showing what America does best. I was glad to see some 1500 series Crew Cabs coming off this line, as previously these were assembled in Mexico.
How about touring the Sierra and Silverado HD plant in Flint next? Id'd love to see those bad boys being made.
Bad boys, LoL...

The new GMC are so much nicer looking than the Chevy.
