Jenny doubling down on how much she loves the ET ride but NEVER having seen ET is the most Jenny thing she’s ever done.
and the way she's cradling that ET plush and wearing a t-shirt with all the funny little alien creatures, so perfectly in character for Jenny :')
I can relate, I've definitely been on the ET Ride more than I have actually seen ET at this point.
@pa_2600 I think she just takes a while to put videos together. Her videos are deep dive style so I think it takes her a while to research, write, film and edit them. Think she's working on new videos at the moment.
I came here to make this exact same comment almost word for word
@pa_2600 she has a new one about the Star Wars galactic cruiser hotel experience dropping pretty soon (she refers to it in this podcast). She's also done several videos for her patrons recently
Jenny clearly demonstrating to women everywhere how to hold your position in the board room and stick to your guns.... and gaslight everyone else into your position. She did not come here to negotiate, she came here to win.
I love it and it 1000% TRUE!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
I don't think she was gaslighting though.
I hope they do an ep on velocicoaster
One of my biggest pet peeves is the fact that almost nobody uses the word “gaslighting” correctly ever since it became a popular term to use 😂
Petition to have Jenny on Puppet History
YESSSSSSSSS!!!! I bet she would have the time of her life on Puppet History!!!!
Please please please
the topic should be bronycon
Bonus points if it's something Amusement/theme park themed!
OMG yes please!@@felsemheimer
This is the same woman who goes on the people mover for fun and convinced me it's a thrilling experience. This is not amateur hour
That sounds like a you problem tbh, it's literally on a video about boring things to do at Disney lmao
@@alanaspence2900 I wasn't... I wasn't actually complaining.. I was being playful
I sympathize with the colloquial quicksand that you have become mired in. The world is a rainforest except the rain is people that are impossible to converse with trying to converse with you and the forest is you/me/the average(?) normal person.
@alanaspence2900 super weird response. read the room
i need jenny to come back and defend every ride she loves from ryan's bad list
ESPECIALLY Living with the Land. They should tag team Offhand Disney with her for that lol
The tourists would love to see Jenny again... and I mean that very literally because I had never heard of this channel before but immediately clicked on this video because I saw she was in it.
Jenny is not only the best guest this podcast, but maybe the best guest spot I have ever seen on any podcast. She sat in that chair fully prepared to give her life for E.T. The Ride and I’m 100% here for it.
I went to Universal for the first time recently and if it werent for Jenny's influence I probably would not have bothered to ride the ET ride. There was even a 35 minute wait and I insisted to my friends that I had to ride it because she sold it to me so well. It was great. Also I did see the animatronic bunny in the forest, I can confirm its existence
The Tourists would love to see more episodes of For Your Amusement, also the Tourists would love to see an episode on Fast and Furious Supercharged.
I've waited for YEARS to have ryan and jenny in the same room talking about theme parks, collab of the century
1:16:06 “There was nothing wrong with it the last time I went other than that it had recently crushed someone’s foot” has me CRYING
The world class pass test was not designed to handle Jenny’s chaotic energy
I feel like Byron hasn’t gotten enough appreciation, so I’m here to say I love the history of the ride segments and everything else he’s bringing to the podcast when he’s able to get a word in
Right?? Its so interesting!
3 days since this dropped and I cannot stop thinking about "can you not just be happy for your fellow man!?" and Jenny's insistence that any appearance of the creepy aliens would result in her cheering and clapping
Love Jenny’s unwavering commitment to passing the ride on every single test
Jenny going to bat for the freaky friends of ET is so much fun.
'he went west' was the best subtly delivered topical humor riff in this series to date.
I would love for "I texted my mom asking for her memories of our first time on the ride" to become a recurring segment - so wholesome!
Yes! I really lived that part as well!!
His mom HAS to come on the show! She has such poetic and passionate descriptions of her memories of the rides.
@@gr33ngirlseaI want to listen to his mom narrate a whole park experience.
I want Jenny to just be a permanent host
She is an absolute treasure, arguing passionately for a movie ride, but has never actually seen the movie. Protect her!
Already know that I'm going to be rewatching this ep multiple times, Jenny is just such a joy and really adds so much to this!! please bring her back!!! also I think she would fucking love the Professor and being on puppet history....just saying!
Jenny on Puppet History FTW!!!!
Back for my second viewing :)
What I love about this is it seems like such a casual conversation but Jenny keeps coming out with these analyses that show what a great cultural critic she is. Like the stuff about the parallel timeline, and about how the ride works because it has a narrative and has peril... it's like the guys weren't ready for that level of critique and they were just like, "Wow."
I just got to the first trivia question where Ryan thought he would stump Jenny. Like. My man. Have you never watched a Jenny Nicolson video? Of COURSE she knows the name of the 3 little alien guys in ET ride.
If you ever start running out of guests, I would love to see everyone return so there's just a cycle of regulars :) It might also lead to a greater variety of rides because I think guests are going to pick their very favourite rides if they have only one opportunity to come on the pod. It might be fun for return guests to actually debate random average or poor rides instead of trying to get their favourites to be world class attractions, y'know?
Offhand Disney coming back for Living with the Land seems like a given.
And bringing Jenny back for one of the Avatar rides so she can explain how much she dislikes River Journey!
@@Minnie_StronniMa Eywa, Ma Eywa, Ma Eywa
There's still a bunch of Parktubers that'd be great for this show. DisneyDan and Rob Plays would finish the Defunctland trinity...as well as Podcast The Ride. Provost Park Pass....I'll be really impressed if they get Jim Hill
@@quaglegagle674 I forgot about Disney Dan! Thanks for mentioning them. I figured there are more out there but I didn't know who they are :)
The names are definitely from a database. When we rode ET with my family in the early 00s, we spent ages spelling out our complicated Finnish names to the attendant. They just hit a bunch of random keys because they knew our names weren't in the list. ET just coldly ignored us at the end.
Spielberg also tells the Orca story in I think The Shark is Still Working or one of the behind the scenes Jaws docs. The way he tells it you can see this barely contained rage covered by a chill smile. You KNOW anyone who touched one splinter of the Orca during its destruction was 100% fired
I now get people who are into rides from watching Jenny batted away Ryan's bad list 😂
Actually so funny that Ryan doubled down on “no hauntings at the ET ride” when in fact I used to work at Universal Orlando and there were in fact ghost stories about that ride passed along by some of the team members lol
She dropped the lore of the century and was never heard from again
On the spot Jenny defended her points, unspooled their rubric, and revealed their inconsistencies. She just exudes love for ET the ride and will make others love it too
Ryan and Jenny is a special kind of chaos I had an idea I needed but I didn’t know would be this satisfying
i need jenny to come back for more rides, she argued her way to the top with this one and i need to see it again
The earnest-nest to which Jenny adores the green planet and all of ET's nightmare inducing friends is so on brand for her
Also chef's kiss to the editor to for zooming in whenever Jenny fidgits with the ET plush
Jenny is my favorite guest so far, you guys have such great comedic chemistry and she brings up a lot of super interesting perspectives I never thought about when it comes to themed attractions. You guys should definitely bring her on again sometime!
you probably have but if you haven’t seen her channel she has a bunch of videos of her talking like this about random stuff but theme parks are a common topic and it’s great
OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU GOT JENNY ON HERE YHIS IS THE MOST MAGICAL COMBINATION
It was so funny hearing Jenny and Ryan argue. I've never been on the ride, but I agree with all of Jenny's points 😊
Every time I watch this podcast I think that it’s the best episode. However I really think this is the best one. Jenny Nicholson and ET Adventure are some of my favorite things ever.
P.S. if Ryan and Jenny do go down to Orlando and chain themselves to ET whenever Universal decides to give it the axe, I will gladly go with them.
Fun fact: Spielberg made a deal with USF that if they ever removed ET, they would also have to remove Jurassic park, so I don’t think it’s going anywhere. They are doing a huge kidzone retheme and ET was the only thing in kidzone that didn’t get the chopping block.
Also! My friend currently works at ET, the beating heart can be seen in two places, Before Bobo and by Jackson Springs. It’s a newer effect and you kinda have to sit around for a long time to see it.
Source?
@@feist__ they told me during my orientation when I worked there. And it’s just a thing team members commonly know and reference. I’m sorry I don’t have anything in writing for you, could be a urban legend but it is known to be truth amongst employees lol
From now on, I'm referring to Botanicus as Bobo. Thank you for that.
@@aaronsarchive82 join us!
Honestly, would love her as a permanent 3rd host
I used to work on the ET ride in Orlando and can confirm that it is in fact deeply haunted
I also remember that day in 2019!
Thank you for zooming in on ET while Jenny was waving his hand
I hope Jenny’s appearance means we are getting a new video on her channel soon.
54:06 starcruiser vid!!
she’s said on patreon too that a star cruiser video is next!!
she’s been working on a few i think. i know she’s doing a star cruiser video and she’s been planning a barbie movie ranking video and i think she mentioned maybe doing a video similar to her vampire diaries one on Once Upon A Time. she works on her new videos all at the same time and they’re very long so it takes a while for them to get our hit they’re worth it
Her update last month on patron was that her next video was going to be about Five nights at Freddy's. She's still slowly working on the star cruiser video.
absolutely love jenny fighting tooth and nail to make ET pass 100% and i agree. absolutely hilarious episode, would love to have her back on the pod
Best guest, Jenny was perfect. I hope she'll come back!
I'm having a really rough day and nearly had an anxiety attack at work, and being able to watch this during my lunch break is a great comfort and breath of fresh air as I collect myself. Thank you for creating this wonderful content. And love that you had Jenny on!
This was my son's favorite ride from 2-4 years old. He would get off the ride and then get back in line. The woods line queue is amazing. This brought me so much joy today.
I went to Universal Hollywood for the first time in years last year and it reignited my love for the ET ride. I even got an ET Christmas ornament and an ET tshirt because I loved it so much. What a classic.
I love when Jenny asks a man “Did you love it?” It always has such a vague connotation, it’s so funny
I hope Jenny returns for every episode! Best guest ever!
They need Jenny back if they ever do the Avatar Flight of Passage.
I love the idea of if your favorite ride just _kept going._ Just imagine that, you're wrapping up the last scene of the ride, getting ready to coast into the station, and then. . . more. It just continues on to new scenes, maybe from a sequel, or from a potential sequel, just more and more scenes for another 20 minutes before it finally shows up at the station to get off.
This was my favorite episode so far! Not just because I’m a big fan of Jenny, but because it was great hearing people who just love something so much talk about it.
And the fact that this is the first attraction you’ve discussed that I haven’t been on makes me really excited for future eps. I got to go watch a POV of it before I started the ep to feel like I knew what was happening.
One of my earliest memories as a child was also going on the E.T ride at Universal FL. I really thought he only said mine & my aunt’s name until this video haha. I loved E.T. so much my mom wrote me a postcard from him and delivered it to my hotel room. Very magical ❤
"I've got to stop saying that at the end of podcasts" killed me LMAO
Thank you Jenny for putting everyone in check 😂
Never been on this ride, but Jenny's enthusiasm makes me want to love it.
'you have teeth and eat!'
'yeah but im a scary guy!!'
i wish there was an entire series of jenny and ryan visiting and discussing low budget theme parks, their dynamic is so fun
On behalf of all E.T. Adventure truthers, I'd like to extend a massive thank you to Jenny for sticking up for this amazing piece of art through and though
ET mispronounced my name as a kid (I go by the nickname Coley) and I was so upset, I cried so much and was terrified of him for years after.
I need Jenny on whenever (if ever) they talk about the avatar rides lol
best episode so far and the tourists would love to see jenny on more podcasts!!
I gotta say, the only time I was on ET was when I was 4 (only time I went to universal FL) and I made my mom and Brother go on that ride at LEAST 10 times. Im not a roller coaster person and definitely wasn’t as a kid so it was the only ride I liked there. Definitely is one of my favorite memories
I absolutely adore the zoom ins on the little ET doll and how I’ve never seen Jenny without a plushy in the same room 😂
And I really think the tourist would like to see Universal make stuffed green planet creatures so that Jenny can have another on theme stuffed toy for a theme park ride & movie she hasn’t seen when she eventually has to review “ET the Ride the Movie” coming 2028
I remember the first time I rode ET. I was little enough to recall the memory but couldnt tell you my age. It was roughly 30 years ago. My mom (who passed away back in 2011) took me on the ride right before Universal Studios Florida was closing, so there was no line. I remember being scared at first, but everything getting better as we went to ET's planet. And not knowing ET was going to say my name until he actually did at the end was something truly magical. Can't thank the creative designers who helped make the ET ride a reality. I'll always have this treasured memory of my mom and this ride.
IT'S HAPPENING. EVERYBODY STAY CALM.
Best episode yet! We love Jenny Nicholson!
Pls have Jenny back on again soon, this was so fun!
So I finished the Spotify version and enjoyed it so much that I came to RUclips to emphasize how much I loved it… and ended up rewatching the entire episode again here 😅
Holy crap, I'm crying laughing!!! I had to stop the video!
"Welcome home. You have died."
I'll never un-hear that!!!
Ryan and Byron, I just gotta say that this is one of if not my favorite podcast that I’ve ever listened to. This show has come so far in the few episodes that you guys have made and it really is starting to take form. Don’t get put down by being a new, smaller pod. We theme park fanatics may be small but damn are we mighty and word will continue to spread💪 keep up the awesome work!❤️❤️
Jenny please come back to making more videos we miss your opinions and your viewpoints so much you're
When I started watching this I looked up is Hollywood still had this ride, just because I wanted to ride it again. Love this ride. Yes, I would wait 1 hr to ride. I probably did in the 90’s.
I love Jenny’s content and this ride! The mushroom guy who sings “welcome home, you’ve arrived” has always had my heart
The only time I’ve ever seen my sister absolutely terrified by a ride is when ET said her name at the end.
Jenny's news about the Jaws ride in Osaka made me so sad... We are going in March and I was so stoked for being able to finally ride Jaws!
i’ve been waiting for this crossover once again!! Jenny I could listen to you talk about theme parks for hours and hours…podcast??
The horror makeup show in universal Orlando is also an opening day attraction!
1. I am devastated to hear the shade toward The Mummy's Revenge. (Idk if it's different in CA, but my friend and I rode it 3 times on our last trip to FL; it's a top 3 ride for us).
2. If you want scary mushrooms, watch Mom and Dad Save the World. (It's not a good movie, but it has the scary mushrooms.)
3. It looked like they're building out the park a bit around ET, so it may not be tucked into a back forgotten corner for much longer. But if FL is refurbishing animatronic rides, they should start with Jurassic Park. That one is much sadder than ET.
SCREAMING over two of my favorite creators in the same room, I feel very normal about this
I was so scared to click on this as a BIG fan of this ride and im so pleasantly surprised! Also as someone who has seen a lot of people getting off this ride, especially after E.T. saying your name, a LOT of people are HYPED 🥰 LOVED the passes and verdict! I'm so glad yall started this podcast! Also, especially as someone who was in Orlando for Ghost Files Live...I'm ready to hear about Velocicoaster 🤪
I 100% agree with Jenny, I would wait 60 minutes for ET every time.
I've seen both the glowing heart and the rabbit. The rabbit is static now, the heart is still there, just very hard to spot, especially if you're moving along in the libe
Best ride by far-- have a tattoo on my arm in honor of it. Who doesn't like traveling to the Green Planet and hanging with Magdol, Orbidon, Tickli, and the gang.
About the POV of the rides for Universal vs Disney, I've noticed that in Disney you're more like a guest invited to take a look into the magical world of Disney IP, which is why it feels more like a showcase or has a group tour vibe. Whereas Universal Rides are all more like self-insert fanfic and YOU are the star of the adventure, so they ask for YOUR help to move the ride plot along or have characters talking to YOU often. Either style has their merits and demerits I think.
Let me say this.. I love this pod. This episode got me through work today where I was fighting the wind and now I’m finishing my final project for a class and I can’t help but giggle at all of this. This brings such a sense of community to all the little freaks who are theme park enthusiasts and coaster heads. This podcast may not have the biggest numbers out of all of watcher products, but in a little corner of the internet, is loved.
Please have Jenny on for AT LEAST every episode 🙏
The tourists would love to see you guys talk about character meet and greets as an 'attraction' esp if it features disneydan
Speaking of waiting 60 mins for E.T. the first time my friend went to Universal with me I told him he HAD to ride the Jaws ride because it was just something he needed to do. Then we proceeded to wait 45 mins in the Florida heat for a boat ride and he's never let me live it down. 😂
The discussion of E.T. using his glowing healing WHILE hurting you around @20:10 reminds me of one of my worst, most vivid nightmares as a kid.
I was terrified of E.T. until I was 13 or so, and I had my appendix removed at age 9. The night before my surgery, I dreamed that E.T. was operating on me and basically torturing me and healing me back up with his finger, and I had to try and run away as he levitated scalpels and things at me... Fun times.
I got better though! Now I love E.T., one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite memories as a kid is going on this ride in Orlando (strangely enough I think it was a few months before that appendix story) and while I didn't like it then, I love the memories and clips they showed in this discussion.
Watching this after binge watching Jenny’s old videos made me so happy, I’m glad she’s still active
Also we need her on puppet history asap
Watcher merch team, can we get a “The tourists would like to see The Orca” shirt? Pretty please?
To be fair, I was like her 😂 1st riding this ride as a kid I didn't see the movie, but after getting off the ride they sold the VHS (at the time 2004) tapes at the gift shop, and my parents bought me the tape. I was not disappointed.
Jenny hand waving the incident with person’s foot being run over legitimately almost took me out 😭😭 i couldn’t breathe
Been watching Jenny videos for few years now, love when my 2 of my fav channels colab
Loved this episode, but I was absolutely devastated halfway through finding out that Jaws at USJ is closed indefinitely. It was pretty popular with guests, and I used the single rider to do it 5 times in a row on my first visit. I really thought it might stick around because it uses newer and much more reliable tech than orlando's, actual huge loss (and that park really can't afford to close even more rides than it already has recently)
I last rode this in 2021. All the effects were working properly in the ride portion. Not having been on it since I was younger, it was a pretty emotional experience. They weren't using the passports (ET was in B-mode at the end), but everything else worked perfectly. Not once did it feel dated or dilapidated. Universal doesn't always have the best track record for ride maintenance, so I can understand the criticisms this ride gets sometimes. But, man, when it is running perfectly, it's truly an experience. Personally, it ties with MIB as best ride in the park, and Peter Pan doesn't even come close to matching that quality.
I’m not really a podcast guy but having both Ryan and Jenny on one??? My god
I was literally just look for JENNY!
I love how Ryan emphasized the specific smell of the ride. I remember the smell so vividly from when I went there as a kid and still think about it a lot lol
i just discovered your guys’ pod and im loving it!! jenny fighting with her life for et is the kind of energy i need in my life
The tourists would really like an episode for something at Canada's Wonderland!
I do love watcher, but Jenny is what finally got me to watch this particular podcast
