Losing E.T. here in Hollywood was a real painful sting. Once Back To The Future: The Ride was gone, I stopped going to Universal Studios. I finally went to Orlando in 2022, and felt bittersweet getting on this again. Remembering memories of me riding this with my grandma as she used to take me when I was younger. I was there 2 days. On day 2, that’s all I rode all day til closing. No regrets. I miss it dearly and hope to ride it again if I ever go back to Orlando.
As a kid, my family couldn't come near me without having to watch ET. Scared enough to not watch alone, intrigued enough to watch it once a day. Lucky enough to have hard-working parents, the ride was visited frequently growing up. We always got ET home. Every time.
I was really bummed out when the ET ride closed at Universal Studios Hollywood. I always thought it would be the permanent timeless “It’s a Small World” ride of the park.
My wife and son and I love that ride, and go on it at least once every day that we're in Universal. That said, it's hard to say the ride is objectively good. I find the scents to be icky, but the happy acid trip it provides is pure gold, and each time we ride it as a family it becomes more and more associated with having a great time. We would be really sad to see it come down.
I prefer the tunnel that we had at USJ, where there were stars that would shoot across the walls of the tunnels that would replicate that warping feeling alongside the screen at the end of the tunnel! But I miss the ride so much and I would genuinely go to Universal Orlando just to ride ET again, and I still remember the scent of the waiting line at ET. The entire waiting line would be just a tad humid and damp, and it smelled like a forest, which made waiting so fun.
Its so refreshing to go from all the screen based rides they have now to E.T. Ive been going to UO since I was 11 (2001) and will never get tired of riding this ride. Brings me back to all of the classic rides that I grew up with.
I was on the grand opening crew for Universal Orlando as a ride/show operator on E.T.'s Adventure. They hired us early and we were blessed to watch them finish the ride's (and most of the rest of the park's) construction. I watched them put the last of the trees in the inside queue, install the last of the bikes and orbs (they used to have spaceships for anyone who had mobility issues) on the tracks, and saw ET get programmed to say goodbye. My favorite name was Yakabayashi. ET would pronounce it Yaka-ba-yaaaashi with emphasis on the "ba" and "shi" syllables. We cracked up every time they made him say it. I even got to see Steven Spielberg film most of the scenes for the preshow. With all of this said, I was thrilled to see how this video showed so much support and nostalgia toward a ride that is 34 years old. I read everyone's comments as well, and just wanted to say thank you for all of the love you are showing this beloved ride. To the person who got traumatized at 3 years of age, I saw so many very young children coming into unload screaming. We're sorry you got scared. Most of us were very proud to say we worked on the one ride that guests would flock to in the early morning every day. This ride will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I hope the rumors we heard that Mr. Spielberg would only do the ride if it remained for the lifetime of the park are true. To Archangel Productions, keep up the good work. You don't realize how many people that work these parks past and present appreciate your positive videos.
That really means a lot, I have been wanting to do videos on theme parks for some time and finally took the leap of faith I’m glad you and many others enjoy the content as there is only more to come!
ngl I was a little skeptical upon seeing the [83 subscribers] under your name, but this presentation was fantastic. E.T. is one of my favorite rides in the park, and whenever I see that queue, I can still smell it! Keep up the good work! (:
When I tell people this is my favorite ride of all time they look at me like I’m insane, but I seriously love ET Adventure that much. I went to Universal for the first time during a marching band trip and my friends and I went on ET because I was interested in the fact that it was the only classic universal ride left at the park. I loved it immediately for its charm and overall surprisingly immersive experience. The last time I was at universal I went on this ride twice during my trip because I’m so scared that something might happen to it.
I feel like ET, Kongfrontation, etc don’t get enough credit for being super immersive way before the concept of theme park immersion was a thing lol Also, I always assumed the alien in front of the spaceship was Botanicus because the queue version of Botanicus was a virtual message
Just found your channel and wanted to say, great video! I never been there but your narration really make me felt like I was on the ride. I am looking forward to your Jaws video, since I got to ride it last year in USJ and was blown away by how fun it was.
I was lucky enough to get to see this while it was still in california..in fact, just a few months after it opened. ET has a very special connection for my family because my husband was actually in the film...he was one of the policemen! I hope they never remove this wonderful ride from florida!
They should never lose the E.T ride! It’s so cozy and crafted with real sets (unlike all the other computer-screen generated rides now at days) E.T’s ride is such a classic and it’s just about the last one there! They should’ve also NEVER closed the Back to the Future ride!! 😭👎
Enjoyable breakdown but I was hoping to hear some specific illustrations of which elements have fallen into disrepair, or see examples of stuff that used to work which is no longer working. Still though, great job!
ET is a great attraction. But it is starting to show his age a little bit. It needs a really good refresh. Update the animatronics the lighting the sound just give it a really good update using today’s technology, but just keep the classic ride intact. Like I said, just give it a little love, that’s all it needs. Doesn’t need to go anywhere. It is a classic. Thanks for the video.
I love the whole set up before getting on the ride. Walking thru the forest with the smell is amazing. I also like the beginning of the ride, but once we get to ET's home planet, I really don't like it. I would love for that whole part to be redone in some way. Reading the comments here, it's obvious I'm about the only who feels this way. I just think it could be better. Sorry.
Universal needs this ride, and in my opinion to keep MIB and create other experiences similar to these. Right now studios has very little to distinguish itself from Islands and what Epic is bringing. Going back to truly "riding the movie" is a theme that needs to be stuck to imo. This park has a multiple personalities that specializes in nothing.
Maybe my childhood memory is mistaken, but I recall the first time I went on ET in the early 90’s, the forest was a lot darker and a lot foggier…last time I went it just felt a lot more “plain.”
I wish that Universal would take the queue and the ride from ET to use everything that makes it so special and magical and start building better dark rides.
As much as I enjoyed my first visit to Universal 2 years ago, I thought ET and Mummy were the only attractions that captured the "magic" of the movies. It would be a mistake to let it slip into disrepair or close. I never got to experience Jaws, but I'm guessing it had a similar vibe.
All of the robot based animatronic attractions from the 80's and 90's are objectively superior in nearly every way to modern screen based rides. They are literally screens. its about the least magical thing you can create.
Love this ride one of my favourites but why do the alien on ETs planet call him ET only named this by Elliot on earth and he isn’t an extra terrestrial on his own planet. But maybe I’m just thinking to much🤣🤣🤣👽👽👽👽never remove ET it’s a classic
While I like Universal Orlando, removing Back to the Future, Terminator 3-D, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Jaws, Kongfrontation and many other attractions was a huge mistake considering that most of those franchises have last legacies to this day. I could understand Alfred Hitchcock or Earthquake being removed but not the other ones. To have a good blend of old and new, the legacy attractions should have stayed and been restored.
Its one of the few classic universal rides left in the park. like we lost jaws back to the future and terminator its such a shame to see all these clasic rids get replaced with awful ones like the minions shooting one.
It is a shame Universal does not make more rides like ET. They did do a great job with Secret World of Pets: Off the Leash in Hollywood, but so few dark rides and they just let them languish. Cat in the Hat could have been much better and has been so poorly maintained over the years at IOA. There's just not a great diversity of experiences at Universal parks at the moment.

It's rumored that Spielberg threatened to never work with Universal ever again if ET was removed from Orlando.

We always got ET home. Every time.
I feel like that 'ambience' is missing from a lot of experiences today. There's nothing to really help you "get in character" before the "act".
Forbidden journey ?
@@razzati420 I didn't say it was nonexistent, just largely missing.
Fair
Super Nintendo World?

Went to Universal like a year ago and that was our favorite ride :) went on it a couple times there were no lines.

40 years birthday was in universal studios hollywood

All we need next is a history video about the area that E.T. is located in, Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone!
Yesss
Love the old smell of the ride. It doesn’t quite smell the same
E.T. has been calling me "Bodo" for over 30 years!
It's looks like new and before 30 and 40 years birthday was in Derek Llewellyn feel like I was
I was lucky enough to get to see this while it was still in california..in fact, just a few months after it opened. ET has a very special connection for my family because my husband was actually in the film...he was one of the policemen! I hope they never remove this wonderful ride from florida!
That’s awesome!
E.T. Phone Home!
Awesome video! Looking forward to what you have in store next :)

I appreciate the feedback when discussing future attractions I’m aiming to talk
More about specifics and make longer videos
I like this ride as a nice relaxing break from the heat. It’s cute
Well it got a new sign recently so hopefully more improvements on the way
I remember riding it when I was a kid I love it a lot to this day.
Good video commentary and content. Subbed, and good luck with your YT channel.

I wish we still had E.T. in Hollywood. Universal Studios Hollywood got rid of any of their good attractions a long time ago.

The queue always smells great
They’ve given ET two full refurbishments, havent they? time for a a third!
A classic ❤needs some tlc it should never close
Couldn’t agree more!
This ride is one of my favorites in the ride. The only problem with this ride is that it’s loud as hell.
If and when they remove this ride, Im pretty sure I will shed some tears and I hope they give us fans a headsup.

Everything is great until we get to the planet💀 that part is ridiculous and I’ve hated it ever since I was 5
lol that part was… interesting 😂

What happened is that Universal doesn't want to pay the money to properly maintain the ride.
Love this ride one of my favourites but why do the alien on ETs planet call him ET only named this by Elliot on earth and he isn’t an extra terrestrial on his own planet. But maybe I’m just thinking to much🤣🤣🤣👽👽👽👽never remove ET it’s a classic
That’s a good point that I’ve actually never thought of
The only reason ET hasn’t left Universal Studios yet is because Steven Spielberg said he will pull all money if that ride goes

It just needs updated animatronics imo yeah and some fx on the transition scenes
I have some ET footage I should find it and upload it
When animatronics became that old parts are not cheap and easy to find.

That ride broke down before I went on it

This ride traumatized me as a 3 year old...
Can you do kingdom of the dinosaurs knotts ❤
#DisneyDiva ❤
I’ve never ridden it personally, but I’ll look into it for a future video!
The ride is EXTREMELY outdated lol surprised it even still exists tbh. classic tho
I enjoyed the video, the crappy clickbait title worked (no, its not neglected, its just old, and well maintained)
Classic? The ride has been a mediocre piece of shit from day one. Universal Hollywood smart. Closed it fast.
