  • Hi all.
    This is my latest creation - it took me some weeks, many kraken attacks and a loooot of patience to construct and record this thing.
    The interior of the docking bay is filled with cargo containers of infamous companies from various sci-fi franchises.
    Again special thanks to ‪@NickBDesigns‬ for providing me with his sound designs for the intro scene.
    Part count: 3.472
    Weight: 3.635 t (most fuel tanks are empty)
    Lenght: 157 m
    Width: 79 m
    Crew: no idea, seriously. A lot.
    I hope you like it!

    Incredible work! The video was very nice, loved all the sweeping camera movement.
    Very epic build. I do love that ring with "glass".

    Holy cow that was kidnapped by aliens! This is just... I no longer have words. This was soo epic. It reminded me so much of Elite Dangerous with all those landing pads, 2001 A Space Odyssey with the spinning thing and V'ger with the shape and door. Visual effects were incredible with that portal, warp drive, thing and the camera movements were very well planned.
    I kept wondering how you made the spinning thing. Because the robotics parts have a... certain reputation when it comes to, structurality.

      Thanks a lot :) yeah the ring was kind of a challenge and there has been more than one kraken incident, trust me. The landing gears in the pylons seemed to help keeping the ring in place

      @@manicpanda8741I belive that is because landing gears have same vessel interaction, plus the wheels can spin. Briliant solution.

    Man, I consider you an artist. This is simply amazing, I love the door of the spaceport, I love the small foldable SSTO, I love every single part of this video. This spaceport reminds me a lot the Arsenal Bird in Ace Combat 7, wich one of my favourite games so you have a clean 10/10!

    Damn, you've outdone yourself once again. Unfortunately I think my computer would literally melt if I tried to load something of that size, but there are certainly some neat ideas I will try to replicate on a smaller scale. And since I have now constructed my orbital shipyard*, I am no longer afraid of larger, decorative designs that would be nigh impossible to launch on a realistic-looking rocket.
    Honestly the main thing I'm gonna be inspired by are the two shuttles, plus the giant fairing as part of the station structure. I actually tried replicating (a version of) the small shuttle already based on the teaser but failed; with the better shots here I'll give it another go once I can tear myself away from Baldur's Gate 3.
    *Orbital Shipyard: A homebrew rule for "orbital construction" in career mode without mods. Requires a station in orbit with certain requirements (specific orbit, robotic arm or orbital tug, at least 2 engineers on board with a combined star rating depending on vessel mass, large ISRU unit). Once those requirements are met, I can launch a vessel at KSC and cheat it into proximity to the orbital shipyard. The vessel must be uncrewed and unfueled, and I must void an equivalent mass of ore on the shipyard.

      @manicpanda8741  11 месяцев назад +1

      I like your approach on making the shipyard thing kind of realistic. Have you tried that mod, I think it's called simple construction.

      @@manicpanda8741 Have not tried it, I try to keep my game mostly stock (still from the time where we'd get game updates breaking the mods). I do know of the mod though.

    • @manicpanda8741
      @manicpanda8741  11 месяцев назад +2

      It's quite easy. Make six-way symmetry, remove one part from symmetry, remove it completely, detach the remaining parts and place them again -> voilà. Works actually with every number

      @@manicpanda8741 oh wow! It took me a few tries but it worked, amazing!
