Shane once again expresses his desire to be a lil rat guy
He's consistent at least
More than once 😂
Of course! Who could forget dear old rat boy
@@zink6379 😮😮
I can relate to that on a deep leve
Shane saying he’d be DB Sewer really went unnoticed 😭
Going through the sewers is actually a pretty good idea
It's what a blackmailer/robber in Germany once did. He told the police to put money in a box so he could collect it. And he got the money by getting underneath it in the sewers while the police was watching the area and did not see anything. They way later saw the money was gone when they checked the box. His real name was Arno Funke but newspapers called him Dagobert.
DB POOPER
@@ApsaraMenaka what does dagobert mean 😭
@@Ray-gu2fg it's the german name for scrooge mcduck :)
bob greengrass and ricky goldsworth could pull off the greatest heist in history
Bergis Montclief (sp?) can be the getaway driver
idk why bob greengrass is killing me so much 🤣🤣🤣
i feel like ricky goldsworth would no-loose-ends bob greengrass tho. bob's a real laid back guy, he doesn't have the same raw cunning as ricky.
@@d.lan3y he would. Rip to a real one
first there will have to be a jailbreak cuz Bob Greengrass will be arrested n Jamaica for asking for green grass
Anyone else kinda proud that the ghoul boys now owns the copyright to their own show? Like they now can do whatever they want without BUZZFEED breathing down their necks
It makes me so happy fr :’)
@Park Justin vice news did. i don't think buzzfeed did
I love that they loved ghost hunting and mysteries so much they continued it under their own brand 🥹🫶🏻
110% Without a doubt so happy they're free to create with their own company! 💕
@@parkjustin1797you’re probably thinking of Buzzfeed News, which is just one part of the overall Buzzfeed company
I COMPLETELY FORGOT THERE WAS GONNA BE A DEBRIEF IM SO HAPPY
Same! This just popped up on my YT homepage, and I was all, "Debrief? YES!"
Can’t agree more!! I can’t wait to see more of this!! I’ve always loved the banter and breaking down the crime with dumb hypotheticals!
SAME
Same! best wednesday
me too omg
Ryan calling Annie in for the interview and her literally sitting for 2 minutes without saying a word, ‘cause Ryan was excited to give the backstory is hilarious 😭
Ryan always feels like an overly excited grandparent or an 8 year old and never the man in his early 30s that he actually is
I was thinking the same thing lmaooo he asked questions that he answered
@@sarahglickfeld9077 He’s too funny, Annie looks like she’s used to it already lol
On brand for Bergara
Her face when Ryan says "unsolved", tho...
(8:21)
Just wanted to specially thank Annie, Brittany and the set designers for making the show what it is. From essentially building the show from the ground up, I believe it’s exactly what everyone was envisioning. The vibe you managed to create already feels perfect. There’s only been one episode and it’s already a comfort. It really is like watching two nerds hang out in their basement. All of the work and worry really paid off, you should be so proud.
I hope they read this comment. They deserve to hear this
I wish I could like this comment a bazzilion times!!!
up up up
this entire video format is just bad... What the hell are you going on about? Literally terrible.
Something I really love is how Watcher are so intent on giving credit to the people who work with them. Love hearing about what goes into making these shows and properly getting to know the crew, whose work I've been enjoying for years but who never got appropriately celebrated. Fab first episode and debrief!
This channel is the definition of making videos with your super talented friends. I love it!
That's probably because it's still such a small company. They're all friends and know how much work goes into it because they're all a part of it. And also probably because they come from a bigger company that didn't really appreciate its employees...
The chairs are SO PERSONALIZED and I am HERE for it.
They're like the armchairs of Carl and Ellie in UP, but 80s
Ryan trying to dance around the fact that this show is here because of a different show they stopped making while Shane shamelessly name drops said show totally checks out. 😂
Came here for this comment 😂 Like Ryan trying to make up a story that wasn’t “make it Unsolved but in a way that won’t get us sued”
The juxtaposition of watching Shane interact like a normal human when having a conversation with anyone other than Ryan compared to the feral muppet he becomes when it’s just him and Ryan is breathtaking.
Apart from the time he laughed at the woman telling him how her dog got thrown by the demon at the Bellaire House 😭😭
he’s such a fuckin theater kid (affectionate)
It's not nice to call the Professor a feral Muppet.
I like that the show isn't going for grisly murders, because the true crime genre is filled with explotation of the victims stories and almost always focuses heavily on the perpetrator rather than the victim. So I'm glad that the show is more geared towards intresting mysteries or Unexplained events because it's definitly less depressing and more ethical in general.
Yes! I'm excited for more heists and/or shenanigans.
Same! The only true crime I tolerate now falls under the genre of "weird and clever and hopefully victimless" and "the cops fully fucked this whole thing up and we're here to read them to filth"
You should try the casual criminologist. Simon is so respectful and the writers are great
Yes and hearing about murders makes me feel sad
@@tiffanyrock1185 I wish he wouldn't derogatorally call all the murderers psychos
This is the perfect succession to Post Mortem. I love Shane's idea of living in a sewer to commit a robbery. Also, is Bobby Greengrass related to Ricky Goldsworth in anyway? I'm so excited for the next case.
I feel like they’re second cousins and they know each other because they’re both on their great grandmother’s will
I wanna see Ricky Goldsworth and Bob 'the Robber' Greengrass fight.
@@laurachapple6795nah man, Bob Greengrass isn’t a fighter. He’s just here for the vibes and those sweet sweet tiki drinks
I very much enjoy that Ryan's pseudonym go-to is "Name + Color + Random Word"
IDK but Bob Greengrass is going to get arrested in Jamaica for asking for green grass
PSA - it is illegal there, you will go to jail
i hate that ryan is still worried that no one’s gonna like their content. he and shane have come so far and amassed such a big following that i think i speak for several people when i say that ryan and shane could make an hour long video commenting on paint drying and i’d gladly watch and enjoy. the whole watcher team is so talented i bet they couldn’t make a boring video if they tried
Reading this, I pictured them watching paint mixing videos and guessing colors and had a joyful experience just imagining it 😅
Watcher ASMR vibes. 😂
@@kbrock9146 I'm here for it lol
I totally agree!! These guys are so likable they could do a show on literally anything and I’d watch. I rewatch so much of their content because I still want to watch more between videos coming out! 😆
Agreed. I absolutely love this new channel, and I heavily rely on them to fall asleep at night (in the best possible way). Every single night I have to put on the ghoul boys right before I go to bed
The level of friendship that comes from "You're the only one I'd trust on my team" and concludes with "and we'd be successful" is just beautiful. And I love that you already practised for your future heist by performing popcorn heists. Also huge kudos to the whole team, the set design and overall production value really are amazing!
as sweet as their constant reaffirmation of their friendship is, im p they both explicitly said they'd be UNsuccessful lmaooo. their asses would get caught so fast. the cops would find them from all the popcorn they dropped as they ran away
@@sipidity1665 I must have misheard that! But that somehow makes it even better because then we get 'We'd fail but I'd still do this wild thing with you'. Incredible dynamic.
"They underestimated the kernel-heads!" I love that there's been extended popcorn conversations in their shows.
If you’re a patron and watch the livestreams, trust that there has been SO MUCH POPCORN TALK
@@lildeadgirl1443 Work's been absolutely crazy, so I end up not seeing a lot of the Patreon-stuffs! I've really enjoyed the popcorn talk that's made it into the main channel stuff. 😁

These 2 can read pie recipes out loud for 6 hours straight and I'd still watch.
I imagine the berry boys would know some sick pie recipes though!
Speaking of pie recipes, I kind of want to see them cook or bake for Steven and be critiqued lol
@@fwoosh8038 noooo Steven. He annoys me so much. I skip over the first few minutes of TMS just to avoid his Disney child actor antics.
@@danii888Omg I thought I was the only one, literally never seen anyone else say it. I do the exact same thing, I still haven’t watched the latest TMS episodes bc it annoys me that I have to skip that part..can’t stand it, sad to say
Shanes "Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime." was low-key aggresive and that made me love it 10x more
The bunker feels a lot like an actual government facility somewhere and the basement feels like amateur sleuths someone’s house. The crossover would be an 80s supernatural mystery movie if I’ve ever seen one.
Less than 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the episode and Shane has already voiced a desire to escape to the sewers and scurry around like a little rat. Very on brand for him
I like that the show is about Mysteries and not just true crime. Mystery is such a broad term that you can really do it all. Crime stuff is fun, but I also want to know more about cryptids, I want alien stuff, supernatural mysteries. I want it all and this show can do it all.
She created Berry Boys? She deserves an award
Love that you guys always name your fellow Watcher workers instead of just using a nebulous "we" when talking about who came up with ideas and who put the effort in. A lot of people just consider everyone to be under the umbrella but I really appreciate that you let your audience know just how many people are involved with the process and give credit where it's due ❤
Okay but Carter just sitting there listening as Ryan and Shane both talk about how they would kill him if he was on their heist team had me in actual tears 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That would be hilarious if at the end of an episode when Ryan says “at the end of the day, this will just be…” and Shane looks directly at the camera and says “unsolved” but there’s a beep and his mouth is blurred
Props to Annie, Brittany and the set designers! Y’all knock it out of the part every single time
It's so interesting to see Ryan's host energy for Mystery Files as opposed to Unsolved -- it's so much looser, devil-may-care, and groovy, like a half-deflated inner tube on a lazy river. "The answers aren't up there, mon frere."
Shane is, of course, the exact same as always and I would not have it any other way. "But I'm the king." (chef hand)
in another universe shane is popping out of a sewer to discover that he somehow ended up in jamaica and he’s met face-to-face with a bon greengrass counting his own stolen money by the pool
The debrief being longer than the episode is so very on brand 🙌
emotionally exhausted rn, literally sobbing and pulling up youtube just to take a mental break and I see this, LIFE SAVER i love you ryan and shane, yall are my comfort
Glad you have this video, I hope you feel better :)
hugs to you and hope things get better soon. you deserve it.
hey, i hope you feel better soon- and, if you don't, that's okay, too. take life at your own pace, and always make sure to give yourself breaks if you can.
please drink some water! crying dehydrates you, so you should definitely get some fluids. take care, friend
hope everything becomes easier to bear Emma :( I watch them when I can't sleep bc I have bad PTSD and it makes some nights just impossible. so my heart goes out to you having a hard time and watching the boys. sending you high fives (or hugs if you like them)
Hugs!!!
Ryan missed an opportunity to pull out a Ricky Goldsworth reference when planning what he’d do with the money
He pulled a BOB Greegrass
Too early in the season 😈
Feels like they're leaving everything behind from the show that shall not be named, unless you're Shane. Except this has exactly the same vibe and I love it lol
I'm glad he didn't, some things should stay in the past
0:23
Ryan Bergara: the investigator
Shane Madej: Ryan’s friend ✨
loving how the boys are increasingly channelling ~retired grandpas in a home~ energy
I am so, so, so happy to see another "weird stories/mysteries" show. I know why a lot of content creators end up going down the "true crime only" pipeline, but please, keep it weird if you can. This show is fantastic.
i really really hope annie and brittney and everybody else that worked on this know how well they did like i know fuck all about sets and camera work and all that but its truly so wonderful to watch the vibe and aesthetic feels so natural and well made and everything flows so nicely even before watching this interview you could tell how much work went into it!!! really amazing job guys
I’m glad y’all are leaning away from the grisly murder part of true crime. I think that’s really respectful to the victims and their families with how goofy the bits can be. Great job guys. The premier was a lot of fun
I agree. And like, the true crime market is SO saturated. We don't need another. This is way more fun and new!
I vote we get a one-off Too Many Spirits, but it's just Ryan and Shane getting absolutely baked
No ❤
That sounds miserable lol
I’ve literally wished this so many times🖤😂
I definitely noticed the different vibe for the set compared to Unsaid Other Show, but it grew on me throughout the episode! I really liked the placements and camera setup that made it seem like Ryan is just ranting crazily to Shane, which was always the impression anyway and you all just tapped into it 😭
Major props to Ryan for being inspired by IT and other 80s themed ‘kids in over their heads in a mystery’ media for the set - it’s like my favourite aesthetic ever and the set looks amazing!!! The crew did an incredible job with it!
Did anyone else almost flinch when he said unsolved for the first time in this show?
I was actually pretty happy about the change from "True Crime" to the mystery angle. I liked true crime, but the older I got, the more I felt like it's just a very delicate topic to talk about, for a enntertainment show, depending on the case. And the tone shift kind of changes that.
I also really like the set design with the warm and comfy feel to it. Really knocked it out of the park there.
Dude, Unsolved True Crimes was such a favorite of mine, I'm glad it has a successor
I met Ryan once when I was walking to work but I was late so I didn’t have a full conversation and that’s the story of the time I beefed it hard
hey at least you got in there and gave it a good try
@@weakanklesfornamjoon that’s what matters 🫡
Is there a big swath of the fanbase that just watches these because Ryan and Shane are doing it? Ive never been a true crime show guy (my wife is that guy), nor a scary story/ghost hunting show guy, but i always loved the chemistry Ryan and Shane have, so even if this channel never went into ghost or crime stuff again, I'd watch whatever they put out. They really have something special.
I first got suckered in on the supernatural because I'm a major spooky guy but I must confess that's exactly what it was like for me from a true crime perspective. Until them, I actually hated most true crime stuff but their chemistry made it so good I was instantly hooked anyway.
same here faikitty
I think it's cute that Shane is the only person that Ryan would trust. Especially all the times he's called him a demon and / or said he would off him. I love their relationship.
I'm absolutely here "just for the fun mysteries"! I'm normally not a true crime girlie at all, the only exception has been the ghoul boys, so this Scooby-Doo type vibe is everything!
As a avid Scooby-Doo goon throughout my childhood, I am absolutely here for it as well.
I'll just say you guys were the only reason I watched buzzfeed, like no exaggeration I hated buzzfeed content and stumbled upon a unsolved episode and you guys carried it hard, so no surprise that the mystery files are a banger so far
Not me cackling so hard at Shane saying "BUZZFEED UNSOLVED TRUE CRIME" out loud 😭😭😭
I've always hated these kinds of episodes growing up but maturing is realizing that Ryan and Shane are possibly the best comedic Duo that ever lived and we truly are blessed
i also went from watching them just for the ghost hunting stuff to watching them because of how they interact with eachother
theres a spotify code for never gonna give you up on the evidence board in the backgroud
It’s been months since we’ve had a good debriefing.
Jokes apart, thank you for this series! It’s great fun to watch 👏🏽
One of the things I really like about the camera angles is that I feel, for lack of a better word, included in the set. It feels more like I'm sitting down with Ryan and Shane and we're all hanging out in a basement together, and that's really fun. Keep up the good work everyone, looking forward to the next one!
You’re so right for this
not sure if anyone will see this but I would like to thank Watcher crew, Shane and Ryan bc this channel is really making me feel less insane during rough times I'm going through
This is something that I don’t think anyone has talked about but I’m so greatful to the team or whoever they put to do this but the CC’s are so good and fluid and the font is amazing and just ahhh
I NEED MORE MYSTERY FILES ASAP
also Annie is so prettyyyyyy omg
The Tunguska episode coming up is REALLY fun!
shane trying to piss off ryan by saying "unsolved" at every opportunity imaginable is on brand for him 🤣 congrats on the show, ghoul boys! its always interesting and inspiring to see the creative process behind your shows.
the logos for watcher shows are seriously underrated. SO creative. props to the artist!!!
3:50 legit thought he was gonna say Ricky Goldsworth, now we got Bob Greengrass to the lore 😂
As a moral objector to most true crime media, I personally really appreciate the team stepping further away from that! Very excited for the rest of the show.
If you are interested in true crime but have a hard time with how it's covered, I recommend Murder With My Husband!! I find that Peyton, the show's host, and her husband are very respectful, focus on the victim's life and family instead of the perpetrator, and stay away from the really grisly stuff out of respect.
@@Crabby-Abby appreciate the recommendation!
I can’t wait to see more of this!! I’ve always loved the community engagement with these boys! Been here since they stayed at the Queen Mary! And I haven’t looked back since!
Also, it’s a shame that Ricky Goldsworth wasn’t part of Ryan’s plan! He might’ve died but he can still live on!
I wasn’t expecting there to also be a debrief for Mystery Files :0
Debrief!!!!
I’m obsessed with the intro, it’s my favorite thing fr fr
Mystery Files having a slightly if Fred & Shaggy took over for Frakes on Beyond Belief kind of vibe I'm enjoying immensely.
Ahhh! I thought Mystery Files looked different! I don't know anything about cameras, but finding out there were some... new angles...? It makes sense now! It looks SO GOOD! ❤
I completely missed the wave for Unsolved and only started watching during the final seasons, so it is incredibly exciting that I get to follow you guys in a new show!
I didn’t think there would be a debrief, so this is nice.
This show is going to be great. I loved that episode. So I'm 35 now, and I have completely changed my ways, but when I was 18 I did in fact do the perfect heist. I didn't rob a bank, and no one was there when it happened, so no one got hurt. I wish I could tell the story, because it's extremely comical how we did it. Also, we didn't rob a person's house or anything like that. It was a very big company. Anyways, can't wait for more episodes! 🖤💰
Bestie PLEASE TELL US THE STORY
Oh shit???
Ricky Goldsworth ❌
Bob Greengrass ✅
Can't believe it's already been a few yrs since they left buzzfeed to create their own channel. The entertainment is top tier, some of my favourite content on RUclips or in general.
I absolutely love their friendship and it really shines through in this retro basement format
You guys should do one episode a season where the crew sets up a fake crime scene based on a real, solved crime. The two of you could see if you could solve it with the same evidence/interviews
@@carnuatus yeah that’s more what I meant, very good point/clarification. Thank you!
how do you guys feel about the boy in the box finally being solved??
also thank you all for this awesome show the team, the aesthetics, the story telling were all amazing!!!
What was it solved to? What are the decelopments?
props to the people that deal with these two because each guest they have on any kind of debrief (this show and ghost files) has the vibe of a parent or teacher trying to wrangle two 8 year-old boys with adhd
Okay I LOVE bringing the directors in because it shows how much effort and work goes on to bring high quality content
Bob Greengrass and Ricky Goldsworth, partners in crime
Until today I believed Shane was maybe 5’11” and Ryan was just like 5’7” and they made extreme height jokes to be funny but here they seemed to be talking about Shane actually being tall and not joking so I googled it and now know Shane actually is really tall 😂
The episode of Try Guys cooking recently, where it was Shane versus Keith, and Shane was a tiny bit taller than Keith? Yep, Shane's tall! And made a really nifty gold skull!
I've met him in person he truly is That Tall. However tall you imagine him to be, he's taller. He's also very nice- he high-fived the line I was in and missed me by accident, so he doubled back to make sure I got properly high-fived. Great genuinely nice energy radiating off of his slenderman body
He’s shorter than my dad 🤣
Yeah, Shane's like 6'4"
He's 85% limbs
6:17 *(WHEEEZE)*
Also Shane's BUZZFEED UNSLOVED TRUE CRIME after Ryan tried stepping around the name had me cackling
This debrief was so chill and fun. I find it hilarious that you once again threw Steven (and staff) under the hypothetical bus. I suppose all banks are safe from the Popcorn Boys.
I love hearing from Annie! Great show and nice to hear about production.
It's official, Bob Greengrass is now in the Ricky Goldsworth universe
just gotta say, it's very refreshing to watch a mystery/crime show that doesn't necessarily involve grizzly murders. i already read about that a lot irl (solved ones tho) and in the previous show, it gets kinda heavy. hope you guys get to cover a successful (or almost successful) plane-jacking or high speed chase one of these days. if there are. 😊
mystery files is an absolutely wonderful new series!! also i love the silly little debriefs
I may be in the minority, but I like that this isn’t necessarily so heavy a show as true crime. While you guys can make anything funny, this is a nice mystery and crime show without the depression and horror 😂
A debrief that's almost twice as long as a network TV sitcom slot... What is media
I absolutely LOVE the way Mystery Files is filmed. I think it makes you really feel like you’re standing/sitting around in a basement listening to your friend explain and discuss their new obsession to you. Very big congrats to the crew for how well they nailed the vibes!!!
I love how Ryan asks Annie a question, then he and Shane talk for 5 minutes and she just has to sit there.
I was yelling inside my head for them to let her talk lol
I'm so happy to see how well the new Mystery Files video is doing! So excited for the future
This show should be done LIVE. On the spot questions would make it better.
4:39 Shane giving The Score a main cast breakdown but leaving out Robert De Niro as the lead is hilarious
just throwing out that i'm super happy this show exists! true crime was always a little too "real" for me, this kind of mystery is going to be so much fun to watch!
Really love that you guys do these debriefs, they're a great way to connect with the fans
Best series on youtube right now
Ryan’s perfect way to create an Alias: a random first name then a color and a noun
One thing I love so much about Watcher is that credit is being given to the people that they work with and that they actually let them say their parts on it, I love the extra information that's being given in those moments about how it works backstage and how they go about creating the (concept of) the show. The set of the show is beautiful and the camera work is phenomenal and makes it all the more fun to watch! Props to all the people working on this show and for giving yet such an amazing one to us!
Love that there are debriefs! Was just waiting for the intro to say that they would address our most PRESSING questions from the most RECENT episode
I'm so happy you guys brought this format back (Ryan knows a story, tells Shane, Shane thinks) because ever since you guys started this channel I've tried to show support but the shows on your channel just don't seem to do it FOR ME. I'm a true crime junky though. Glad to be able to tune in to your channel to watch y'all again with this series.
CAN'T BELIEVE RYAN MENTIONED SUPER 8! i love that movie's vibes a lot and i never see anyone talk about it
I’m happy with the fun mysteries - I personally had to stop consuming true crime content for my mental health, way too depressing and anxiety-inducing. So I’m glad I’ll be able to watch this series! ❤️
