- The Luib Chonnal Bothy lays deep and isolated in Glen Roy, Scotland. Robert @murchiesmountains2820 and I decided for a bothy overnighter due to the weather forecast.
Excellent video as always and great to see Luib Chonnal again. Robin and I had the luxury of having there to ourselves last year during some wet weather.
It looked a lot busier on your trip but good that you got your own space.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks mate 👍
Simply stunning. Watching your vids reduces the stress of modern life! Thank you for all your effort and keep smiling 👍
Hi Jeffrey 👋, thank you very much. 😊
Many years since I’ve stayed there Stripey , great to see it’s still maintained well. A cracking glen to walk in . Very important place for geology with the ‘parallel roads ‘
Please keep on making videos,I feel like I am on the hikes with you and really appreciate the amazing scenery.
Thank you so much 😊👍
Nice video SHG😊! Don't know if you know but during the first 5 mins of
the video there were many views of the Parallel Roads of Glen Roy, which after some debate, are now accepted as evidence the glen once contained a glacial loch/lake and these are ancient shore lines. Google it if you're interested.
Took a drive down Glen Roy for a picnic last year. Beautiful 😍!
Hi John 👋, yeah I actually recognised the distinct lines and flat areas in Glen Roy. Was actually wondering if it were old glacier marks - can definitely see that it was a lake after you mentioned it. Guess the outflow must have been at the Luib Chonnal bothy.
Thanks a lot

Nice hike Mr Stripey hat , thanks for bringing us along !
Thanks bud!
Brilliant Stripet😍👌🏻..Really enjoyed that mate..Great catching up it’s been too long😁..It’s such a cracking bothy 😁..Great video mate 😁👍.
Cheers
Robert
Yeah was great seeing you again buddy 🙌👍. Looking forward to our next trip together!
Thanks

@@StripeyHatGuy Defo mate 😁👍
Wow,simply amazing place stripey, great content as ever 👍
Thank you very much!
Hi Stripey 👋. I set markers too when hiking, it makes sense. What gets me always is when you think you get to the summit and you find out you still have many meters to go! Good to see Robert again, and the Bothy looked like very comfortable. Thanks for sharing Stripey. ATB Serk
Hi Serk👋,
Glad to hear that I am not the only one. Yeah the false summits, ridges,… are always the worst - tried to avoid it with looking at the altitude on my watch but found out that it is not helpful at all for motivation when it is done to early during the tour 😂
Thanks
Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy Ha! Look forward to your next adventure Stripey 👋
Typical very picturesque Scottish scenery. Quite impressed by the bothy . More roomy than it looks from the outside.
Yeah definitely quite big. We were altogether like 8 or 9 people but I assume you could fit a few more in 😄
Again another great outing Stripey 👌
Absolutely brilliant video as always, the scenery was beautiful and the bothy looked very cozy.
Thanks a lot!
Nice one Stripey, bothy looking good. As Bry mentioned we were here a while back. 🔥 🥃
Thanks Robin.
As always a good quality video.
Thank you very much 👍
That’s looks like a great Bothy even with its own waterfall 👌🏼
Can’t beat it 👍
@@StripeyHatGuy would you say it’s in your top 5 Bothy stays ?
@@markj1679 Yea definitely! The location is fairly remote and isolated as well as no munros nearby! Scenery through Glen Roy? 5+. We were unlucky/lucky as the guys in the bothy meet there only once per year…and yes it was exactly when we went 🙈
That's a cracking looking bothy in stunning surroundings Stripey, as ever beautifully captured 👌 atb Brian 👍
Thank you very much Brian!

Hi Stripey. Great video mate, what a lovely setting the Bothy is in. Nice to see you out with Robert again. Thanks for sharing as always mate. Cheers Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
Thanks a lot Dave! Yeah was good to catch up again, mad how quick time passes by…
Beautiful! Thank you for virtually taking me along!
Cool thanks mate
Great Vlog. Thanks
Thank you very much!
Nice to see you oot with your other half 😉 Looks a cracker of a bothy. 👍
Yeah was good to see each other again, always a good banter 😎👍
loved this with my earl grey debs xx
Thanks a lot Debs!
@@StripeyHatGuy my pleasure you have a lovely channel debs xx.
Imagine if I explored this stunning view like this one. 😃
It pops out on my mind! 🤯
I am grateful for opportunities to ensure that my family decides whether we travel to the forest, beach or to the hiking?
FEELING ALIVE MAN!!!
See you on the next episode?
I’d love to join you on a hike/both visit some day! Great positive attitude. Perfect walking companion 👍🏼 I’ve got my osprey packed ready to go!
Thanks a lot! Maybe we see us one day 👍
Very nice. Great scenery.
👋🏻Stripey! Fantastic video, as always. This is probably my favorite bothy so far. A little crowded, but it seems you and Robert had a great overnight stay with company. Gorgeous scenery and the streams and waterfalls just stunning! Bet dipping your feet in that crystal clear water was invigorating! Gorgeous hike. Seems as though the weather in Scotland has been as unusual as it’s been here. Still looking forward to my visit back there, in a few short weeks. I can do without the horse flies and other biting annoying insects. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your new summer adventure videos. 👍🏻✌🏻
Hi Rose 👋,
Yeah definitely good for having a dip at the waterfall, the other people in the bothy actually did this. Really hope that the weather gets a bit more predictable for your visit, just so much nicer outside with all the greens, flowers,…. When the sunshine’s 🤞
Thanks a lot
Stripey
Great to see you back again Stripey :) i spent two weeks vild camping and one night in the lookout botty (my first ever) Skye (alone i was scared lol) and watched the door and everywhere including arrochar for that famous stripey hat lol but it wasnt meant to be :( ... 2 weeks in the rain omg now i know why you have colds, aches and pains :)... Scotland is soooo vast. M ☘️ . Whats Roberts channel called as i cudnt make it out sorry ...
Hi Merky👋, glad to hear that you had a good time! Yeah I wasn’t really out a lot with school holidays and work personal time is quite short at the moment - which doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy some family holidays etc.
I linked Robert’s channel in the video description 👍.
Thanks
Stripey
Glen Roy is so beautiful, I took a photo last August of Turret bridge when the heather was in full bloom. I haven’t been as far as the bothy but would certainly like to pay a visit.
Fantastic! Can only imagine how beautiful it looks like😎. I am sure you will enjoy the track down direction to the bothy a lot, plenty of interesting photo opportunities 👍
I think that’s the most scenic bothy you have visited yet. Good to see you walking on the stepping stones in the little stream rather than walking straight through the water 💦 lol.cheers James
Thanks a lot! Yeah it probably is, will definitely revisit the bothy, already planing a tour in the surroundings.
We visited the Isle of Barra ,Vatersay and a wee trip to Mingulay a few weeks ago for a 10 day trip in our motorhome. You should check it out I think that you would love it there .😊. Cheers James
Top bothy, in a great setting. Look,s like you can mountain bike the landrover track? Remind,s me of Kinbreak bothy, now that,s a lonely glen.
Aye you can definitely cycle the track 👍
Great video Stripey, like how you respect other people’s privacy 🙌👍
Edit: I wouldn’t mind to share with you a bothy - no fear to find myself in the www 😂
Cheers MaliceGLA, nothing wrong with filming people as long as you ask and it is ok with them imho. I wouldn’t like it, so I am not doing it 😉
great stuff, that bothy is better than my house, tidier too hehehe
Good to see you guys out and about. 👍🏼
Cheers mate!
Good video
Beautiful shots and route 😊👏👍
Thanks a lot, Glen Roy is just such a beautiful place.
Cracking! 👍
Hi @Stripeyhatguy. Loving your videos. So well made. Can i ask what camera do you carry? Photos you get must be amazing
Thanks a lot. At the moment I just use my phone 😎👍
Love the video, whereabouts are you based to get such good access into the hills? Glasgow? Edinburgh?
Thanks a lot Emile. I am based in Glasgow.
Excellent video mate, video quality is great, is it GoPro?
No I just used my phone.
@@StripeyHatGuy ah, is it an iPhone? I’m using iPhone 12 pro for my videos, but think it’s time to upgrade.
I do believe that any phone nowadays is good enough tbh. I would safe the money and would rather go on holiday 👍
Shhh! Don't tell anyone about this gem. We don't want the Instagrammers finding it.
Nice video.
What kind of hiking shoes do you use ?
Cheers, I use the Altra Mont Blanc BOA. Have a little explanation in my ‚What’s in my pack‘ Video why I use them and not the Olympus 4 anymore.
@@StripeyHatGuy Thanks dude.
How much gear was Robert taking for an overnight lol😂
Everyone needs different things for comfort 😉

SOMEONE please trim the horse's mane!
them falls were stunning with that backdrop
stunning mate hope youre enjoying scotlands wilds
Oh I absolutely do! Of course I have my moments (particular during extended high wind and rain period’s) when I miss the Alps with the better weather but these moments usually last not to long 😎👍
