Hi Stripey 👋. Such a relaxing camp, and very cozy. Interesting close up of the spider on the window 😂. Nice quiet place, not a soul in site. Thanks for sharing Stripey. ATB Serk
Hi Serk 👋, Thanks a lot! Yeah it was the first thing in the morning what I proper recognised and I thought I would share it 😂😂😂. Thanks a lot for watching mate - ATB Stripey
Hi Stripey, another cracker mate, reminded me very much of the area of Angle Tarn in the Lake District. That cuckoo liked the sound of his own voice didn’t he? 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing your adventure as always mate, Cheers Dave
Thanks mate! I mean I would eat also other things but taste and effort is king by the pasta bolognaise for me - unfortunately we can’t have it anymore at home as twice a week is even for me too much 😂
Fantastic video Stripey😍👍..That looks a nice hike into the bothy..Those wee Lochs are amazing..The bothy itself looks really cosy 😁..You can’t beat your pasta bolognese😁..The evil midges are out in force now 😩..Enjoyable video mate.. Cheers Robert
Thanks Robert! Yeah is an interesting route from Loch Awe, quite a bit longer than from Lochgilphead but definitely worth it for all the wee lochs. Aye the season of the wee beast is unfortunately back again, in winter we don’t like the wind in summer we are looking for it 😂😂😂.
Nice easy looking walk 🥾 and a cracking wee bothy 🏚️ ideal for a wee bit of solitude 👍 unfortunately its the start of the midge season 😢 like you i hate the wee buggers 😂 Another great watch Stripey 👌 atb Brian 👍
Thanks a lot Brian! Yeah is a nice wee walk through a really interesting scenery imho and a bothy overnighter with firewood supply is almost always a guarantee for a good night out 😎. Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey
cool wee bothy, i've never used a bothy but it looks like a great way to lighten the work load of a camping trip, if only it had a starbucks and a greggs next door.
It could but it actually makes my pack heavier as I bring always a tent for the case plus 1 or 2 firelogs 😎. But I guess it is depending what you all bring for camping 👍
Hi Stripey. I really enjoyed your video. This is the closest bothy to me as I am currently on the Kintyre peninsula. I've never thought of going from the Loch Awe side before. It looks like a much better route compared to Loch Fyne. Thanks for sharing 👍
👋🏻 Stripey! What a great short hike ( and I mean “short” by your standards, not mine!😂) Loved the landscape, and the bothy even more. Did you have other hikers overnight too? The ruins near the bothy look good for a bothy extension. Wonderful historical entry of the bothy’s past residents. Just lovely. Glad the weather cooperated, though your favorite flying bugs insisted on keeping you company, along with that creepy window spider. Was it very cold in the bothy? Did you need to cut more wood? I must confess, I wait with great anticipation and glee, to hear what you’ll have for dinner in every video. Much to my delight, the famous pasta bolognese was the perfect fine dining choice again!🥳Did you finish “The Man in the tent” yet? Anyway, thanks for another wonderful video. Slowly, but surely watching all your videos. ✌🏻☝🏻👋🏻
Hi Rose 👋, No actually I was all day/night alone apart of a mouse which I could only hear but not see. Yeah there were actually quite a lot of spiders in that bothy but this particular had my interest after getting up, having a coffee and a bar it was more or less the first thing I really saw 😂 I didn’t cut more wood it was for the rest of the time raining and I just went to bed earlier as I had no motivation to get wet 😂. No I haven’t finished the book yet to my shame, quite a view pages missing. Thanks a lot Rose - ATB Stripey
Yeah exposed to the beasts ruins it completely! It was pretty good that I could go inside and close the door. Thankfully the rain got a bit heavier so I could open the door for some light and fresh air later on 👍 Thanks a lot for watching! ATB Stripey
Hmm. I was at Carron 6 months ago. I've been to over 100 bothies, and I've always found that Carron is the hardest to get to; you came in the easiest way, but I have to confess that I once got lost on that route. It is interesting that army engineers were involved in the renovation of that bothy and even they had problems.... in the comments there are references to the walk in from Loch Fyne (3 routes) Well, one goes through the "hidden realm" (bothy book) which is a 2 mile section of so called path through the forest which is more swamp than path: it connects to a forestry track but is very difficult to find if coming to the bothy. Or there is the direct route, which is navigationally challenging. I've never tried the Southern route; but even the first half mile from the bothy is like SAS selection! 😢
Thanks a lot John, yeah I thought the same! I do believe that it usually gets approached from Lochgilphead but I found an article on the Times as a walk of the week so I thought I would give it a go - definitely worth it if the weather isn’t good enough for the hills in my eyes.
Yes .... the dreaded McMidge should not be underestimated. An ex-colleague bought a wreck building on Skye ... after 2 years of being eaten alive he sold the finished Cottage to the first offer.
Absolutely crazy! My friends back in Germany every so often ask about it and it is so difficult to explain as I have never experienced something like that before. The usual comment is “…can’t be that bad…” 😵

Thanks a lot dpelpal! 😊
I’d love Stripey’s pasta bolognaise recipe. Seriously!
Have a look at my video…the only thing I added is a little spiced sauce 🤗
A lovely cosy bothy and beautiful area.
Hi Jennifer, thank you very much. Definitely an enjoyable hike and quite different to my usual hikes 😀
Very pleasant video in very beautiful landscapes and shelters ☺like39👍🙏
Thanks a lot Maso! 😊
Not every trip needs to have a snow storm! Nice walk, and a very decent bothy. Nice.
He now has a storm of midges instead , Stripey wont be the same guy until next winter ...from now on he should be called Stripey net guy 🦟🦟🦟

Another great video which again is balm for my soul. Thank you so much!

Thanks for that. I have been bothy curious for some time but will probably never get to one.
I would highly recommend to give it a go when you get the chance 🤞👍
Cool thanks mate. But like to see more of the bothy. Indoors and out. Even close area around it. Cheers
Great video Stripey! Love these old bothies. Keep up with the adventures. All the best.
