    Moe, I have a Cricut cutter and I'm learning Inkscape. I want to make themed journals for my grandkids (thirteen of them). I want you to know how impressed I am with your clear step-by-step instructions and explanations. It's so helpful that you go slow enough that I can keep up and pause to take notes. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us! You're a lifesaver ❤

    Moe, I just want to say THANK YOU so much for your tutorials. I actually just got my first Cricut Explore Air 2 and was really trying to figure out how to make my own sticker sheets. Yes, you are right when it comes to the lag on the design space!! I was getting so frustrated! Then I found your group on facebook, then saw your videos and after watching the first one, I immediately subscribed! You have definitely helped me in learning my machine and I look forward to watching all your videos on it!! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain and put these videos out there!! you said to make sure to select "Make horizontal gaps between objects equally" icon, in my Inkscape version there is not that "equally" thing through options, and I don't know an exact way to to complete doing my work in an alternative option and everything looks neat as I wish, if u could help, I would appreciate that

    Hi Moe!
    No no no. I'm sorry I should have clarified. It's a little stick figure drawing my daughter made of us together on a post it note. I want to make it a sheet of stickers to mark when we're doing mommy/daughter day. :) I will try your suggestion. I thought about taking it to a business to have it scanned but wasn't sure if they have the capability of scanning it in as a png either. Thank you for the quick reply!!

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      Ok - I did just want to make sure! If you have a scanner at home the printer most likely will scan high enough quality that it can be made into an image. You may be able to scan it as a PNG, but that is just the file extension- it won't make the transparent background. But cleaning it up a bit in a simple program may give you something to work with.
      Sorry to come off harsh! But your idea is super cute and I hope it works out!

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  5 лет назад

      The scan and cut probably has its own software to work with. If it can import SVGs though I'd suggest using another program like inkscape so your designs are tied up in their program if you decide to change machines later on :)

    Am I missing a step? I've followed exactly, but the "blackouts" disappear and are not there when loaded into DS, I have to export each image separately, then open in Pixler, work it in there save again and only then will my blackout be there when uploaded into DS - this, I am sure is an extra step than I can somehow omit??

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  6 лет назад

      hmmmmm i'm not sure where you'd need to use pixlr in this tutorial...i've done a ton of tutorials so sometimes it's hard to keep them straight! You should just be able to create the sticker sheet in inkscape, export as png, then upload to cricut design space with no blackouts needed. I'm just not sure what isn't working correctly, I'm sorry!

    Thank you, so much! I have been struggling with Design Space for days trying to finish a design on ONE sticker. I do have a question, though. I'd like to print two sticker sheets on one page so I can reduce the amount of wasted material. Do you know how I can trick Cricut into doing that?

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  6 лет назад

      Cricut only allows for a 6.75 x 9.25 cutting area so I always try to design sticker sheets that fit that area. Other wise the software won't put two sheets together if they will be bigger than that area....unfortunately.

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  6 лет назад

      Yay! I'm so glad you're finding them helpful :) I find that if my cricut is cutting off, I go through these steps until it's fixed - re calibrate, cut in complete darkness, change my mat to a brand new one, take the blade out and clean the housing by pushing up the blade and using a fluffy paint brush to clean the debris out, change the blade. Usually once I go through some of these steps I find my cuts are better - I've only ever changed my blade 2x (I think!) so usually it just needs a cleaning. Hope that helps!

    Great video! I'm just beginning to work with Cricut Design Space and I'm frustrated with the lag time. My question is, can I use an image with several images and make an offset for each one or do I need separate images, then combine them into one sheet?

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  6 лет назад +1

      If they are different shapes, then yes you'll need to make an offset around each image then combine them on one sheet. Otherwise it may look wonky using one offset for another shape. hope that makes sense! :)

    I use Chrome as well, and I loved watching this tutorial, btw, but I still can't figure out what you mean by our being restricted to 8 by 5.5 and losing an inch? Idk ... It's quarter til six a.m., and I just had to ask, because I followed you on everything else but then had to ask myself, am I losing space around the edges? or what? Morning brain. Thanks

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      For the Chrome browser the Print then Cut area is only 5.5 x 8 inches, all other browsers are 6 x 8.5 - so I guess I really lose a half an inch all the way around. If you followed these steps and the browser you use is Internet Explorer, for example, just size it to be 5.5 x 8 inches. Or you could start with a 6 x 8.5 inch canvas and build your sticker sheet that way...but a 6 x 8.5 inch sheet won't fit in the print the cut area allotted for Chrome. Does that make sense? Thanks for watching :)

    I've been trying to "fix" a pdf in Inkspace so that I can add an offset to a few images as well as compensate for the white that creaps out from some of the planner stickers. Inkscape is continually giving me a "not responding" message. I can't even move my selected image to the center of the workspace, let alone ungroup or anything else. I've saved the image as a png and an svg but those files don't work, either. I uninstalled Inkspace and downloaded the new version, 0.92.3 (I swear I had a newer one but I can't remember). What version are you using and does it give you fits, as well? Do you have a video that specifically takes a pdf, separates elements, adds offset, outer defining lines to stickers, deletes the background, etc. making it cricut ready? I don't have a cut image for this pdf and that's the only thing I can find a how-to for. You say that you are not an expert but you are amazing! You are a great teacher and your videos have helped me so much! Thank you!

    • @MoeHoward516

      Unfortunately I don't know much about the support of InkScape - I don't know how to solve the lagging issues. I find my lags too if i've got too much open on my computer or I'm working with larger files. I don't have a video on using inkscape for this but you can always use the free version of the Silhouette software to create a black out file. There's a tutorial in my Silhouette playlist for that. Then you can use that black out file to make your sticker sheet cricut ready....hope that helps!

    I have an image that I have only a hard copy of that I want to use. Now, my scanner only brings it in as a pdf or jpg. Is there any successful way to then export that into a png? Or does the image need to originate as a png? I'm not sure if it's hopeless and I should just give up the mission.

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      First - is this an image you are allowed to scan in and use? If it is another person's artwork, from a book, etc or something you do not have permission to digitize I do not suggest doing so. You'd be infringing on the intellectual property of another.
      If this a doodle of yours or something you have permission to digitize or reproduce you may be able to scan it and clean it up in a simple program like paint using the eraser tool. Leave a little border around it and you will not have to creat an offset.
      Please do not digitize or reproduce anything you do not have permission to.

      Yes - so design in inkscape, save it. Have your cricut machine ready to go and Design Space installed. Upload the image you made to design space, click "make it" in order to have your printer print the image (should come out with registration marks), then place on the mat, feed in the machine, set the dial, press the flashing cricut button on the machine. Hope that helps!

  • @PrincessSquish
    @PrincessSquish 8 лет назад

    I didn't take it as harsh at all! And it may help someone reading in the future who doesn't realize that it's just not cool to do. I saw a video earlier this week where the person has been taking shops stickers and reproducing them in different scale or in a higher quantity per sheet for their own personal use. I feel like maybe that's a grey area but it's been nagging at me all week and I almost feel like I should say something to the original artist. I don't want to come off as a tattletale but at the same time it feels unethical. I know that she is a seller herself (of her own designs) so my hope is that maybe she privately obtained the okay from them to do this for her own planners. Anyway I digress!! I agree, give credit where credit is due. If you love someone's creativity, support them!

    • @MoeHoward516
      @MoeHoward516  8 лет назад

      Agreed on the giving credit part!! I would mention to that person that they should not be doing that. Unless given express permission - which you may not know, but honestly I highly doubt they have it - one should not be scanning and copying someone else's art or designs. Nor should they be filming a video encouraging that behavior! I would also suggest to privately message the creator to let them know this is happening. They may not be aware and it is always good to stick up for what is right. I am sorry that you are in this predicament!
