    Kenny you are the man!!! Thank you for so many amazingly clear and concise videos. And you stay on topic, getting right to the point. Without you I'd be slobbering over the basics still rather than being knee deep in recording my songs. Again, thank you!!!

    Excellent as always Kenny ;
    You cleared out the confusion i was having about transient guides ; i now know they are just "transient markers" and i am now aware of the difference between those and stretch markers , it's all very clear to me now, thanks to u !

      1:07 7How did you get that zoom tool? Are you using mouse modifiers?

    • @vanhaze2000
      @vanhaze2000 7 лет назад +2

      Indeed, it's a mouse modifier:
      Goto Mouse Modifiers > context: Media Item - left drag. Choose "Marque Zoom" for a certain modifier key. I have assigned CTRL key. So i left mouse drag while holding down CTRL key and then i get the magnifying glass tool, to zoom in. Hope this is helpful 2 U !

      Is there a possibility to apply the marquee zoom somewhere in the project regardless of a midi item? And then resetting the zoom with a keystroke? That would be nice.

    WOW! I've needed this for a long time and didn't know how. I do rough sketch writing work by improving and have been doing all this manually slicing up my tracks for a scratch composition tracks. This will save me a ton of time getting me back being creative. OMG thank you again for your wealth of knowledge Kenny!

    Is there any easy way to enter bpm of sample of entire song? I am trying to create a dj set with reaper and I usually add 3-4 minutes long tracks. I know the bpm of the songs that I add my project but I can't find a way to define items bpm.

    • @krass76
      @krass76 6 лет назад +1

      if it helps: write xyzbpm into the file name of the tracks. Then Reaper will import at the right speed.

    Playing around with this stuff for the first time right now... So, I might not be understanding everything correctly yet. But it does seem rather strange that it's detecting some transients that are *quieter* than certain *louder ones* that it's *not* detecting.

    Could you make (or do you already have) a video showing how to sync audio made in Reaper to a video made with a camera. It would be especially useful as I try to sync a long video with a lot of drift (hundreds of stretch markers).

  • @lodougherty
    @lodougherty 6 лет назад +1

    Is there a way to do this to multiple tracks at once. Say I wanted to adjust a drum section, plus bass and guitar for that specific part? Like an automated transient guide for a section of a song?

    • @jessegrisham
      @jessegrisham 5 лет назад +1

      You could select each item in question and group them (press G). Now when you do something to one item, it does it on all of them. Then process with stretch markers as normal and it will add them to each item/track all at the same time.

    Thank you Kenny! I've been facing one problem though. There's a click at the point of the transient. Gets louder especially if it's a more destructive kind of sound editing. Could you please suggest how to overcome this problem. Volume enveloping won't help much here.

  • @JahnRose

    In a couple other DAWs you can use the “groove” of the transient markers of one piece of audio- than apply that groove to any other audio clip. Do you know of a way to accomplish this in reaper?

    • @MsNextGenkiller
      @MsNextGenkiller 6 лет назад

      Hi! Use SWS Extension - Groove Tool.

    • @JahnRose
      @JahnRose 6 лет назад

      MsNextGenKiller I am referring to using the groove of an audio clip. Not midi. Not swing. Real human groove from an old song, or any audio clip. Borrowing transient markers from one audio source and applying it to another

    • @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP
      @ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP 4 года назад

      you do dynamic split of a media item or split it manually at transients, use SWS Groove tool to get User groove (a mere click of button, an item has to be selected), then use it to apply this User groove to another selected audio item which also has been split at transients beforehand

    • @azpercussion

      Of course, you need something else. Change take or project pitch shift/time stretch mode. Also there is stretch marker mode for tonal or transients optimising.

    Hey Kenny, great videos thanks. Just one one question, in dynamic split when you set the transient threshold, you have those guide horizontal lines to set the threshold, they don't seem to be in my version of reaper, how do you get those? Thanks

    snare 0:45 vs 3:30
    stretching still degrades the audio, transients in particular, may depend on the chosen time stretch algorithm
    there's a script which attempts to preserve drum transients when using stretch markers
