  • Step by Step photo progress of the building of our Modern Shed. Plans were purchased online for $19.00. Plans were complete and included a materials list from which I deviated a little to increase quality of the exterior cladding. Very happy with the results and highly recommend.

    Wow, looks great. I especially love how all the rainwater and frozen stuff dumps right over your fence into the neighbor's yard. Now that is what I call engineering. If I could only get my driveway to do that.

      LOL Actually, I have 3 feet between the shed and fence. Water drains on the gravel behind the shed on my side.

    Love the design, and the modern look, different! Thanks for the video, just what I have been looking for, to inspire me to build a new shed.

      Excellent Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (just google it)? It is a smashing one off guide for building better sheds and woodworking minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend Sam at last got cool success with it.

    This is amazing work! Very well done! Love the look of the cedar finish! What was the stain you used to finish it?

    Getting ready to price out this shed, ordered plans ect, I love it, my customer loves it, i see the T&g, is the other just standard siding?
    Next step finding the windows lol, I saw you special ordered from Home Depot, what didn’t you like about them?

    • @larsswenson8334
      @larsswenson8334  3 года назад +1

      Siding is Clear Cedar T&G and concrete Hardie Board. Windows are Jeld-Wen from Home Depot. I chose these windows because I did not want to break the bank and I wanted the Dark Bronze finish to match the Pella Windows on my house. Jeld-Wen has a vinyl window in Dark Bronze. Did not want White windows which would ruin the look of the shed. The Jeld-Wen windows are not fantaistic but they do the job for a shed. If I was going to finish the shed as a living space, I would have used Pella Aluminum Clad WIndows.

    Looks really nice, what are the dimensions? Also why Tyvek, vapour barrier only goes up if you are heating. Tyvek can pass water vapour, but not always quickly enough to prevent moisture build up.
    Sounds like you have ventilation, but in general think is better to leave off. Cheers.

      Jog B The shed is 12x10. I used Tyvek because I may finish it off in the future. Plenty of ventilation currently. Also, I’m in Colorado so moisture is not a concern. Very dry here.

    Are you happy with your side-entry door that opens out vs into the shed? Do you have some kind of a catch so it does not swing into siding?

    • @larsswenson8334
      @larsswenson8334  3 года назад

      Very happy. No issues at all. I used a swing out door so that I would not eat up interior wall space. Also, it is a Therma-tru Fiberglass 36" outswing door which is not heavy and therefor has no momentum to swing and hit the outside wall. It never has, even in our crazy Colorado winds. I figured if I did have an issue, I would put a door bumper on the exterior. But, I have not had to install one.

    Look nice but I smell a lot heavy labor and a lot $$ involved to build this small shed 👍

    Where are your soffit vents? How does the underside of the roof breath?

    • @larsswenson8334
      @larsswenson8334  6 лет назад

      Didn't use soffit vents. No ceiling inside the shed. Have Turtle vents and I leave the window open. Use this for storage only. Not insulated.

    What was the cost?

    • @larsswenson8334
      @larsswenson8334  5 лет назад +3

      I guessing around $6,000. Did not keep an itemized list. I knew what I wanted and just built it. Could have saved money on Roof, Siding and Windows if I used cheaper products.

      @@larsswenson8334 Great build btw!!! The upgraded wood siding and windows is what MADE this shed look way more aesthetically than other typical sheds. Very nice!!
