  • Join us on a walking tour of Alasdair Gray themed walking tour around the Glasgow canal from The Whisky Bond to The Claypits Local Nature Reserve.
The Whisky Bond was a well visited location for Alasdair. In our collection we have many sketches & passages where Alasdair used the landscape around us by the canal as a source of inspiration within his work. In fact 2 of his most famous works, his novel ‘Lanark’ and his painting ‘Cowcaddens Streetscape in the Fifties’, directly reference the view out of our window! Talk about Gray serendipity!. We hope you enjoy this short video that shows the key sites and how they connect to Alasdair’s work. The video also takes you to our 2021 public artwork which we were commissioned to make by Scottish Canals at the Garscube Links.
