Vėliau bus atskiras video apie šitą turbo projektėlį :-) .
I like how you talk and don't worry nobody is laughing
Labai gerai. Taip ir toliau. Beje, labai geras kanalas yra "M539 Restorations". Galima pasigaudyt gerų idėjų plėstis. Sėkmės!
Mano vienas mėgstamiausių M539, dar geras LNC collision centre, Salvage master V, aišku ten daugiau apie kėbulus. Ir žinoma jo didenymė Arthur Tussik :D
Thank you Lukas. Your instructions were a great help for me! 👍
'i like bmw' goes international 👍:)
I've watched like 10 videos on this topic and this one is by far the best and most informative, thanks a lot!
Just wanted to thank you for your video that helped a lot .
I have this same motor and it snapped the intake camshaft. I couldn't find a intake camshaft for the exact M111 motor and the one that snapped were not the original and looks like the previous owner put a different camshaft in as it had a 6mm higher profile than it should have and the reason why it snapped as the valves bottomed out.
So eventually I found a camshaft of a later model but the timing pins on different positions. Your video was so that I could see were the camshaft lobes sits in top dead centre. The engine starts and runs fine except for that the one injector is now stuck open and over fuelling because it stood for 2 years.
Thanks to this video I'm going to tackle my car again. It's been sitting for two years.
He explained exactly what I noticed about the timing marks.
Now I get it. Mercedes over complicated this engine.
If I get it running I want to give this man a hundred $100. I hope he reads my comment.
I don't know how you figured this but I commend you for your understanding.
Thanks.
Did you end up fixing it?
@@trymhammerstrmgisiger1278 I haven't messed with it yet.
Waiting for warm weather this spring and beer money.
@@jesse75 let us know if you get to it, im putting on my cylinder head on my m111 this week, wish me luck
@@samurboi8007 definitely good luck.
I'm going to tackle it once the weather warms up.
We are like a month late, and everyone is tired of the rain. I'd rather have drought conditions.
Thank u guy u did a good job , I will repost this video
Excelente, esta muy bien tu explicacion. Muchas gracias por el video!!!
Great video, thank you. However, for earlier versions of M111 without "VANOS" system, it is 9 teeth offset for the intake cam gear, not 6.
Bro you made my day. Thank you very much. I was searching for exactly this video !
Pagaliau! Ilgai lauktas M111
Puikiai, be jokiu juoku. Nenuvertink saves, nes tavo anglu labai gera👍
Great explanation and talking !
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you it's a great tutorial and really helpful. Really apreciate that you showed us how to properly do it. Please now I'm trying to solve one problem. I'm not able to reach 20° just 10 or 30. I didn't have space for oil pump replacement (noisy chain) and mechanic made a mistake - result contact between valves and pistons.. ok now I'm trying to repair it after year ... Do you think that reason why I can't reach 20° could be that guys in shop took 0.35 from head? All timming parts are new. (Changed year ago by mechanic) thank you in advance.
Hi, if you are checking timing right, than yes, it is most likely because head was shaved alot, also why they took so much, mostly 0.05-0.15mm is enaugh to resurface.
Super, labai gerai paaiskinai 👍
Hello, have to say "great video, well done" , definiily well explained. my question now, does this even work for the "M111.942 W210 E200 2.0 136hp " ? thx a lot for your efforts with the video
It has to work on all m111 engines.
Great vid thanks 👍🏻
years after but I did not check the timing. my M111 is only noising when coldstart for about 2-3 seconds. Get the tip to change the chain tensioner. I installed the new one but want first that the oil pressure put him in the right position. How do you crank the engine only by starter? I don't want to start the engine and the chain is jumping over.
Ooo angliskas kontentas 💪😎
Pagalvojau, kad aktualu visam pasauliui bus 😀
@@MechanikasLukas lauksim daugiau tokiu video 💪
@@MechanikasLukas pakankamai aktualus, nes siuos variklius deda i senesnius modelius, tiesiog del gero patvarumo ir galios santykio.
Bet matau, jog dar alkuninio veleno skriemulys paliktas nuo kompresoriaus, reiketu uzdeti nuo atmosferinio ir tuo paciu pakeisti generatoriaus laikikli, nuo to pacio atmosferinio variklio.
Thx!
Great video, i am thinking of doing the head gasket because of a coolant leak at the back. We'll explained

Great vid. Very useful 👍
Great video excellent work
But when crankshaft is on TDC. We count 6 or 5 teeth for the intake camshaft? It was little confusing to me honestly
You need to fully retard intake cam, than count 6 teeth and 6 teeth must align with that hole I am showing in video. If camshaft is advanced, than it will not allign and you could not check timing correctly.
@@MechanikasLukas so full retard and 6 teeth that's easy .. this video is amazing although it says uploaded 1 year ago and its still the best one very detailed thank you
@@MechanikasLukas and then after that i have to lock the camshafts right? Using the TDC method
@@marwanjoan3789 there is no way to lock camshaft from turning in vanos unit, you just retard intake cam by turning cam anticlocwise, like I showed in a video.
Everything I explain untill 4:33 time mark. After 4.33 I am showing what you can do wrong, untill 5:12, where I start to explain another way to check timing.
Those settings are the same for 111920??
Mate, this engine is reliable enough or there is other engine from w124 even more reliable?? Im talking clearly only about reliability and not about power
Definitely not laughing> I think you were saying Vanos, BMW speak for adjustable cam timing.
Adding this to my list for my soon upcoming head gasket replacement on my 02 M111.981 Kompressor.
Hey mate, I am re-building an M111.955 engine (2002 C200K) - do you think I need to get a special tool for setting the timing? It does not look like the Mercedes tool HAS to be used...
@@SupaTima Not sure what tool you're referring to. I haven't yet done the work...rather nervous about it, it's a big job.
But I'm blowing vapor from the engine compartment into the car when not on recirc, so probably a toxic situation and needs to be done. Car runs great otherwise, just the gasket,
motor mounts and a little suspension work and be like new even at 250K
Also 2002 M111 C230. This guy has the most complete start to finish on M111 head gasket, there are like 5 videos.
And there's a pin that needs to be knocked out, another video around somewhere on that easiest way.
Obviously you'll need to remove Supercharger which this car doesn't have but otherwise mostly the same.
ruclips.net/video/c1l80UG9m9k/видео.html
@@DimlyAwareHUmAn hey man im looking to replace my head gasket too soon haha good luck if you haven't done it already. i started today by removing my supercharger and exhaust manifold, but im super nervous about that timing situation
..
@@samurboi8007 is it really necessary to remove the supercharger? Damn, I just replaced the damn thing along with the alternator. Also WIS mentions removing the tube on the back of the head where the transmission dipstick goes with 722.6 5 speed auto, but no mention of how to remove it. On the back ofthe engine.
Did you remove any fan components, shroud etc?
@@DimlyAwareHUmAn im not sure about the dipstick. I havent come around to removing that as yet, ive started removing my cams but i got busy again so i have to come back to that when im ready. Im pretty sure youre gonna have to remove your sc again though, because at the side of the engine, theres a chain tensioner, which you NEED to remove along with your cams and reassemble, because the chain will be wayyyy overtensioned and you'll wreck your engine. Check and see where the chain tensioner clears if you're lucky you might be able to get away with just removing the sc top housing which is 6 bolts+ the pesky annoying boost hose clip. The tensioner bolt is pretty large tho, 27mm i believe, its the same as the crank balancer bolt so whatever you use to turn over the engine for timing will come in handy there also. I may have screwed up tho, and remove my tensioner too early before marking where my cams were fully, so i lost my timing there. Oh well, ill cross that bridge when i get to it, itll get retimed anyways to account for chain stretch
Brilliant video thanks for the help.
The issue I have is when I try to adjust the Vanos it feels stuck and spins the whole engine. If I hold the crankshaft with a breaker bar it still won’t adjust.
Anyone any ideas ? Feel stuck
Thank you. Try to turn it other way a little at first.
Can’t get it to move either direction

hello again, i have to ask one more time. did you set cylinder 1(or 4) in the up position with turning the crank before adjusting the camshaft timing? or does it automatically happens either it is not dependent ? thx in advance
Hi, sorry, I do not understand your question. It does not matter you turn camshaft or crankshaft first, when installing timing chain. After chain is installed, you do all turns by turning crankshaft.
@@MechanikasLukas he means TDC of cylinder number 1 ?
It makes no difference.

@@MechanikasLukas I tried both today and my pins line up on my exhaust side cam but no my intake and idk how to make them line up please help me 🫶🫶 Thankyou for u excellent video
you need to turn intake camshaft to full lock retard position, like I show in my video 3:10
Is the OT mark the TDC of cylinder 1?
yes

Hi there
I need some advice if you can give it.
I recently changed headgasket and with that the timing chain and all things around it.
I had NO IDEA about those secrets you shared, but she's been fine and already ran for over 1500KMs.
Would my engine simply die if I didn't retard the camshaft or would it take a long time?
Asking this because lately I've been listening to a rattling noise that doesn't sound like a chain problem, more like the cam adjuster starting to fail of old age, and it's slowly but surely getting louder.
Hi, it depends how you did everything. Your engine would not die if it is runing now, but how accurate is your timing now, is a different question.
@@MechanikasLukas so you mean the timing chain might still not be 100% correct due to the intake cam. Thanks for the info, I'll check it myself.
The engine has been running smoothly though, really nothing indicates I did something wrong except the noise. Hope everything is fine, it's been a bit of an investment in this lol
@@lushikatakanbaru2508 engine could run smooth with wrong timing by one teeth, but maybe down on power a little.
@@MechanikasLukas power isn't down by any margin.
I still have yet to open the thing, but first I will do some preliminary tests.
Pagaliau anglu kalba, senai laukėm, šaunuolis !
Kas cia per projektas? :) vietoje kompresoriaus turbo? :) ar cia atmosferikas turbintas bus tik dangtelis nuo kompresorinio? Butu idomu daugiau pamatyt ka cia sugalvoje :)

Hello MegstuBMW, thank you for This great video. We are working on a C180 with m111 engine and used your video as a gide. Thank you for that.
After mounting a new chain and a secondhand vvt ( vanos) the car keep throwing engine light. Y49 variable timing selonoide mechanical failure.
It seems that the vanos is blocked on the retarded position. Is there anything we can do to de-lock it ?
Get it fixed yet ? I would figure buy new cam gears.
@@jesse75 yes we fixed it. Thank you.
@@infoimportexport cool. How did you fix it ?
How many beers to help yah?
I have to get drunk to tackle my car again.
Thanks to this video and comments like your's.
To be honest was one nightmare. The mechanic mounted the tensioner in the wrong way. Even after warning him and showing him what will happen if mounted wrong. In the end he didn’t listen and took 5 minutes to see the engine stops and with damaged valves. Than we mounted a secondhand cylinderhead and followed your steps with the vanos. Also I have a clk in de showroom with the same engine and used it as example. Many thanks again mate. If you where near we would have drunk a couple of bears 😂
Lukai ka tu čia
Video visam pasauliui orentuotas, nes keli video yra kaip sustatyt, bet nei vienas neparodo iki galo kaip normaliai pastatyt degimą 😀 .
@@MechanikasLukas gera mintis!
Ask the Germans why vanos gear does not lock with the camshaft. Common sense vs sophistication. I see why people love Asian cars especially Japanese. No special timing tool required to set Asian engines timing but you'll need 100 timing tool if you are planning to fix European western car. Garbage
This engine is a pain in the but.
