I was there in 1989. Coming all the way from France and i visited NAS Miramar like 10 times. I was 17! What a blast ! I will never forget those great memories !
I rember the O-Club / bar at Diego Garcia... conestoga wagon salad bar that ended up in the IO a day or two later somehow... the Brit ex-pat who ran the place... nice lady. Anyway some poor guy was on duty and forgot to remove his cover when he came in looking for somebody, and yup, he ended up buying the house a round... and the place was packed... must've set him back a pretty penny. p.s. thanks for the beer shipmate. :)
