Wonderful video 🎉 I was about to buy Action 3 but Now after this comparison i can clearly add few more bucks and now i am going for Action 4 ❤ Thanks a lot! I subscribed
Taking a cruise is one item on my short bucket list; Where to go, I don’t know. Thanks for providing the camera comparison, Dan. Were the kids with you on this trip?
This is an eye-opener! Thanks for sharing all this hard work. Now you have license to go on the cruise all over again, this time with the action 4 and the pocket 3! We will stay tuned . . .
Hi. I have OA 3 and Im wandering if I need to upgrade to 4 for podcast using artificial light and no stabilisation for better low light results, Since you have both can you do a comparison? Thanks
Actually there is no HDR mode on OA4. It was just added to the normal mode. Did you miss the HDR vs d-log comparison? Most of the video was done that way. I disagree about the beginning being unfair because the OA3 in HDR mode would boost the iso to 3200. Limiting the iso makes it a much better comparison of the actual capabilities. What is really unfair is that OA4 has a much bigger sensor. That is the entire point of the comparison.
I'm using the OA4 mostly indoor by d-log in quite harsh lighting conditions and I'm very pleased with the results. Also I'm using it for my motorcycle trips, using the same setups, with very beautiful results. There is actually nothing to criticize on this camera. Also the sound ist quite superior in comparison with earlier models.
@@freelyroaming ev can be adjusted in hdr mode. It can be a lot brighter. You do see artifacts ( on power lines for example) under daylight in hdr mode though.
@@alisabki I assume you mean the jitters seen in low light conditions. That is not fixable by firmware. It is only eliminated by turning off the digital stabilization or increasing the shutter speed. Both you can already do but the result is a shakier or darker image.
Very good comparison with multiple light levels. Thanks.
This was a wonderful video comparison. Thank you so much for this.
thank you for watching
Thanks for the direct comparisons, now I can see what everyone's shouting about for the 4 over the 3's lowlight capabilities. 🙏

Thanks for doing this! Between your results and something I saw on another channel, it seems that manually setting it to ISO 800 is a sweet spot!
nice comparison for 3 and 4. I decided to buy 3 but because of your 3 and 4 comparison I will surely buy 4.

This was our first time as well. Yes the kids were there also. This ship has activities designed for teenagers so they met some new friends as well.
Wow. Huge difference. Thanks for making this.
it's very good and detail comparison. bravo 👏👏 u did great man.

Finally the video is here!
Thanks for your patience!
surprising how big difference there is in manual settings. Difference seams to be because firmware differences...
The difference is mostly due to to Action 4's larger image sensor
Thanks for the upload. It was very helpful.

If you are shooting in well lit situations then you are probably good with the 3
What settings do you make to shoot a panorama?
I was surprised how much louder the audio was with the OA4. Is the OA4 mic more sensitive?
Yes it appears so. The audio levels are exactly as they came out of the 2 cameras.
Would be nice to see simmilar tests with gopro. Thanks
I don't have a GoPro 11 but I know it will not perform as well from what I've seen.
That was an unfair comparison, the OA4 was permanently on D-Log. A real comparison should be on both cameras on HDR.

I wonder if the new firmware update fix the jittery on the OA4.
I doubt it. It has to do with how digital stabilization works and lighting conditions. Not a firmware problem.
That mean, it's how the firmware work right?@@freelyroaming
