I love this series I e wanted to DLg since I was little but DLGs cost a small car …even today I can afford one but they are rare so I’m going to take a leaf from my Var-Eze experience and make me one
Good stuff indeed.. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your mylars as you referred to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ** UPDATE **, I see below in the comments you answered this already, Eplastics.. Thank you...
@@amonus-air2160 Thanks and yes, I did.. I had them also cut the sheet into 8" wide strips at 4' long for a total of 9 strips... yeah! BTW, what viewer is to be used for the .DAT files? Thanks again, DJ
I use Notepad++ to open the .dat files. So, you go to Airfoiltools.com and : 1) choice my airfoils 2) add a new airfoil 3) paste in .dat file numbers. 4) open in plotter to input chord length (I usually add a .5mm halo for cutting wire waste) 5) print out the .pdf and use to make your templates :)
How is that carbon fabric described? I have tried to buy that fabric but I'm not buying the right stuff. I want to be able to harvest those strips from it. I looked up 12k tow on amazon, but all I see is carbon fiber twill weave. Where did you buy it and what was it called? Thanks so much. David

Where do you buy the .75mm Mylar polypropylene? Everything else looks doable! I hot-wired as a teen, but of course it was all pulling the wire over the templates by hand. But man we flew those planes for EVER. Such great memories. Would love to step up my game now that I have kids who I'd love to show this stuff to.
Hi. I searched everywhere for this, and finally found at a company called "ePlastics" Only thing to address is to make sure one side is smooth, not matte. Cheers! 😎👍
@@amonus-air2160 OK amazing! I will check that company out thank you very very much. That will be perfect! I hope your day is going wonderfully! Thank you for the wonderful video content and happy flying.
@@amonus-air2160 is Mylar still OK? Searching today I found the roll of "Mylar" I have from the 90's. It's ~13.5 thou, .34 mm thick. I bought it back then from a guy who was molding wings but never got around to doing it myself. Would it still be legit? It seems mighty smooth. I'm thinking it could still stand a bit of thinning for the LE profile too. (I also found my light cloth (still not sure of the weight), so getting closer ... need to get the CF)
Awesome work! It looks great!
thank you very much. Appreciate your thoughts my friend :) Hope to see you flying soon!
espectaculat trabajo. aprendiendo para poder hacer el mio. saludos
Muchísimas gracias. Le deseo todo lo mejor en su construcción y feliz de que le guste el proyecto.

glad to hear you are doing your own.

no problem. Just make sure you get one smooth (glossy) side. Directly effects final finish :)

Nice job! Are you sure that is Mylar and not polypropilene?
yes, it's polypropylene. Everyone still refers to it as mylars though, old habits :) Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for subbing!
Does the pre-preg actually saturate with wet epoxy?
technically, I don't think so, not 100%. But I believe letting it sit in fresh laminating resin improves it's bonding.
Thanks for the question.
Where about in Canada are you?
I'm in Ontario
@@amonus-air2160 oh yea. I'm in Alberta but originally from BC
