- In the period between 1979 to 1981, at least 30 African-American children and young adults disappeared or were murdered in Atlanta. Although 23-year-old Wayne Williams was prosecuted for two of the crimes, the rest of the cases were ultimately closed following his conviction in 1982. I remember being 7 years old visiting my grandparents in Atlanta and we were all scared. I never realized they didn't try to solve the other 27 murders. It's a travesty of justice and a slap in the face of the families who lost children.
This is crazy. I lived in Atlanta. It’s sad now everyone is acting like this is new! Justice for these black kids!

No it wasn't. Netflix is pinning it on Wayne whilst HBO is doing otherwise. The only difference is that Netflix is fiction and HBO is fact.

I was 6 years old when this was happening my mom moved us out of GA to SC we still was scared for our life scared to come outside to play or go anywhere by ourselves we really walked in groups ….Wayne Williams got what he deserves prison forever

I been following this story for years that one real creepy guy...
The bias to take focus off Williams keeps this from being a good documentary. I sympathize with the parents and their lack of resolution but clearing Williams isn't going to heal any of their hurt.
Just look at the timing of these documentaries..... when "white supremacists" are the national blame-for-all boogeyman, that's what black people want to believe who was actually responsible for these murders. "Want" to believe, but then again black people are notorious for their cognitive dissonance.

I agree, they could have found that man with a dead body at his feet and they would still come to his defense because he's black. I do think it's good how they stick together as a people but not in cases where they turn a blind eye to evil just because he's black. I think he killed some not all
He did it. It's just a racial issue, the community didn't trust the police and were convinced it was the KKK. There were other pedos killing kids, but Wayne killed a lot of kids. The murders stopped after he was arrested, and there was a massive amount of them dead or missing in a short period. He was caught dumping a body, there were survivors. He just seemed like a good person on the surface level.

How have Wayne Williams' lawyers explained Wayne's Cheryl Johnson explanation?
Wayne said he was crossing that bridge that night,when the police heard a splash in the river,to go see a lady named Cheryl Johnson for a singing audition. According to the police this lady doesn't exist.
I too think this is the most suspicious part of the whole case against Wayne, but this is not the proof that he killed 29 people. Even not a proof that he killed one person, for the body was proved to be under water for minimum 5 days.
That don't prove nothing. Yes he could be lying or telling the truth. A man can travel at any time he chooses at night. To be fair I do believe Wayne is guilty but you can't use the Cheryl reason to say he did.

They also called researchers to check the river and they didn't find a body until 2 days later but the report says the body been in the water for 5-14 days

You had the vast majority of the city's white natives extremely downplaying the Klan angle, despite knowing that the 2nd Klan era, (1915-1944) and the 3rd Klan era, (1946-present) were both born in Atlanta.
The majority of the kids lived in the same small area, were nearly all boys, killed with the same MO. Why would the KKK do that? There's 2 types of DNA evidence on Wayne, there were witnesses and survivors, you're saying all that is faked?

More black witnesses who are now grown up spoke about how Williams nearly abducted them and they got away. They gave specific details too.

"The List," by Chet Dettlinger is really the Bible of the Atlanta Murders!! It was written right after the murders when memories were still fresh, and people involved were still alive.
