Great review! I've flown the Qatar 777 with 9-abreast. Nowadays, people always talk about legroom, but never shoulder space. Their new 10-abreast is a horror, like their 787. Therefore, let's pay more attention to this in order pressure airlines.

I flew with Qatar Airways way back 2016, as a first timer flying abroad it was great. It was a Triple 777 bound for Saudi Arabia. The FA's were friendly, there was decent choices of food even in the economy class. Now 7 years running, i will be flying again with Qatar this coming November from Frankfurt to Manila with their triple 777. A little side note, i remember waiting for my connecting flight to Dammam for an hour, and i took a quick glance to the boarding panel and saw these flights for departure flying to these beautiful cities and one of them was Frankfurt. I was curious, I thought I wanna see it one day and live there what it will be like. Today, i lived 30mins away from Frankfurt and Frankfurt now is my go to city whenever i want to take some time off from work. Frankfurt is old school but interesting. It's amazing how things in life can quickly turn into reality by chance. Going back to aviation, i can't wait to fly with them again, and see that big yellow teddy bear once again. I am looking forward to that long haul feeling complemented by that constant roaring sound of an aircraft. That moonlighting after dinner is being served, and beautiful strangers around doing their own thing. Most people don't get it and it's okay, for them it's just a plane bringing them to places but for me i soaked myself in cause as an AV geek, the journey starts in flying❤
Hi Dan! When I flew economy in Qatar airways I flew on a 777-300ER and that experience in my opinion was similar to the a350, I think it’s because it was a newly built 777
Oh wow i hope i get on a newly built 777 because i was going on a a350 but forsome reason they changed the plane
3 days ago I flew on Qatar’s 787-800 economy and there it was a nice experience. Entertainment system was responsive and I got two extra juices too😄. 787-800 also has the electrochromic glass which I prefer over the normal window shades.

My last foreign trip was to Australia to visit my daughter. We flew Qatar Economy class. Edinburgh-Doha in an A350 then Doha-Sydney in a 777-300ER. The difference was night and day, especially in the seat comfort with the A350 far superior.

Hy Dan. I flew many 777's from Qatar. Usually the ones with the registraton starting with A7-BA...are the old ones. Those starting with A7-BE...are the newer ones with upgraded IFE and most probably with Qsuite.
I take the same aircraft pair next summer for a 60th birthday trip (just because). The 777-300ER from ORD-DOH nonstop and returning to DFW, also nonstop on the 350-1000. I start and end my journey in STL. It's interesting to find out what a difference there is between the two airplanes. I also have a few other flights on different planes in-between - 787 and 737 - as I have a pre-trip booked for Jordan. Last time I was in the middle east was in 2016 when I went to Israel.

Fully agree on the 777 vs A350 comparison. Flew the A350-900 then 777 to USA with QR. 777 got the job done but the experience of the A350 was so much pleasant.
I mean the 350 is more modern, don't mean the 777-300er is work house, it have transport million by Year

Yes Dan, the 350 is soo nice :-) I have been flying Finnair from Sweden to Bangkok, transfer in Helsinki and on the A350 from Helsinki to Bangkok both in Business class and in Premium Economy and it is very good. I have also been flying with Qatars A350 from Gothenburg, Sweden to Doha and onwards to Bangkok in Business and it was awesome ! But now Qatar has stoped using the A350 from Sweden and are flying only 787 and 777 from what i have seen. This will probably make me choose Finnair next time since most of their Bangkok-flights are A350 !

It's just unlucky you flew on one of their outdated 777's that may get refurbished. They do have newer TV systems (similar to the 350) in most other 777s! Supporting QR for the win! 😄💯
I visited Blade Lake a few years ago. I remember cycling the lake more than 2 times and went up to the hill to enjoy the beauty of the entire lake and the small chapel on the tiny island in the middle. I missed those moments. Loves from Malaysia❤❤

Very accurate. Just returned from a trip to Dubai from Miami on Qatar 777-300ER. Miserable experience. The seats were tight, economy was outdated and same as my 2016 flight. The Airbus A350-1000 I had for my connection from Doha to Dubai had a much more comfortable seat, leg room, better TV and looked sparkling new. I regret not having gone with Business class, not having switched my return flight to Miami so it would be an A350, and in reality, regret not having just flown Emirates direct. All the 777 I've flown in the past few years, regardless of the airlines are 'old'. If I can't fly business class for a long-haul flight in the future, the plane must have premium economy, or else I'll go with a different airline.

I travel each year from Europe to Australia/New Zealand and mainly fly Singapore. While I'm very happy with the package Singapore Airlines offers in economy, recently I've tried other airlines. I found Emirates to be pretty poor from food, service ( staff made you feel like you were a inconvenience and seat comfort and plain dirty aircraft, Just way below standard for a international long haul airline. I also found Dubai Airport was filthy, the first toilet I went into was over flowing with water and well you know what else. Qatar on the other hand were extremely welcoming, great food and snacks and always clean, as with the airport, spotless. I'll stick with Singapore Airlines, but if I can't, Qatar is my other airline now.

This is very interesting! I just had a flight JFK to Doha on an A350 and it was awesome then to Dubai on a 777-300ER but with a newer version which had the same screens you had the A350. I was definitely surprised that they were able to offer a meal on that very short flight in a wide body. Qatar is definitely the best choice if you’re flying economy
That's interesting, and I'm glad you had a nicer cabin! I think this is the most common cabin by quite a margin, so you got lucky😃

That’s really lucky qatars 777’s and A330’s need to be heavily modernised unlike the likes of their 787’s,A350’s and A380’s which have really modern seats and cabins

last month; my and i flew through qatar airways to doha and the cabin crew were so nice! they offered us first class seats because a man sitting next to us was almost drunk and making us feel uncomfortable! will never forget that lovely flight attendant lol

@@solo.life.travels7215 Qatar Airways doesn't require PCR test. U need to take test only if it is requirement of destinatiom country. Also, plz bring copy of test as they might retain it at airport.

I flew with Qatar airways from Doha to Manila last January 17 , using the Boeing 777 300 ER and I would say that this 777 is very powerful and comfortable aircraft ! I was surprised with this performance ! Very good Qatar and 777 !

Love the a350. My favorite long haul plane. Qatar is my favorite airline. Platinum member with over 500,000 miles with them. JFK>Doha>BKK and back, many times.
The seats on the airbus a350 looks so much comfier!
I like Schiphol a lot as well. There are so many fun and quirky attractions around every corner. Also, in my opinion, it has the best signage around. Not something you normally notice unless it's bad.

Qatar Airways B777-300 ER were one of the few operators that stuck to the 3-3-3 abreast seating configuration in economy class across their entire fleet of B777-300 ER . . . for e.g Air India, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Garuda Indonesia & Bangladesh Biman . . . but unfortunately QA also adopted the cramped 3-4-3 abreast layout in economy class of B777-300 ER . . .

This is the first time I've heard you share how tall you are. 6'2". Nice, I'm 6'1" ad this information helps so much.
So due to some flight changes I flew Qsuite DOH-RUH while my wife flew normal business class DOH-DXB (incidentally also QR1002). Apparently it's chalk and cheese, Qsuite makes normal business class feel ordinary.
This time I had a forward facing seat in Qsuite and the experience was MUCH better. HOWEVER, I will say this: if you are someone that gets motion sickness easily, the enclosed private cabins in modern business class can be claustrophobic and prevent you from "looking at the horizon" to avoid the onset of motion sickness. Something to think about, sometimes a standard business class seat where you can see down the aisle might be better.

I fully agree: Ansterdam really is the best Airport/ Hub in Europe at the moment, although I have a lot of issues with KLM. And Heathrow 1,2 and 3 ate the worst (4 and 5 are ok...)
I enjoy Frankfurt airport as well
T5 is an absolute mess for me, I'd rather walk 15 mins to the gates than get my flight cancelled midway ngl
Hi Sir -- 7 to 8 years back Qatar 777 used to have 3+3+3 Configuration that was the best and very comfortable Economy seat Configuration.. Much much better than Emirates..
I just flew on the 777-300ER from Chicago to Doha. I was on the the exit row, window seat, but No Window 😢.
Pros: Leg Room, delicious meals, good selection of entertainment, spacious lavatory (in rear of aircraft).
Cons: No under seat storage, no window, headphones kept falling off of my head.

Dan - great review as usual. Just want to check. Have you experienced any more "airplane changes" of late by Qatar? My partner flew to Frankfurt a short while ago and this is the FIFTH time he has been bumped from Q-Suite to the old configuration. No lies. Five times. In fact, in all his business class bookings where Q-suite was booked, he has had more changes to the old configuration than Q-Suite experiences. I wonder if others are experiencing this or is he just so unlucky?
Hi Brad, yes unfortunately these are still quite common. They've introduced a policy that allows you to change flights for free due to equipment changes from Qsuite, but sadly that isn't always very helpful :/

Yes, he did show me the communiqué from Qatar Airways stating that they apologise and that he has the option of booking another QSuite flight but, like you say, this isn't always feasible. Especially when one receives the communiqué while one is already on the first leg of the flight. Advanced notice would really help. Even 12 hours. After an exhausting flight to Doha from the Southern Hemisphere, there was no way he could wait to re-book another flight from Doha to Frankfurt. It's just so sad how many times this happens. He is a frequent flyer with Qatar Airways and is now considering the new Emirates Business Class.
@@bradw3800 Qatar is known for that by the way. I flew them 4 times and 2/4 they switched the aircraft. They do this to meet demand for example, they may change an A330 down to a smaller A320 to meet demand because not enough people booked to fill an A330
Usually I had a flight from Doha to Manila and their economy class was old just like the oldest days in 2015 therefore I was thinking they had a new economy class but when I came to the plane 777-30ER their economy class was a little good but they improved their bathroom I actually like how the bathroom is, It was clean and spic and span so my rating is 5 stars
I’m flying in 2 weeks MNL-DOH with an infant so I’m kinda afraid of the layout as it was originally A350 but they swapped equipments to 777-300ER. I hope they will have the good/updated aircraft 🤞🏻
