Thanks a lot for your video! It helped without any problems to change the upper part of the A6000 camera, which I replaced due to the built-in breakdown of the scroll wheel. I noticed that Sony deliberately makes weak switches!
When doing this mod, be very careful when taking the top part off - when doing this I accidentally tore off the connector for the flash. Fortunately for me I never use the flash anyway so it’s no big deal, but it’s still something to be careful about.
yes) ill be replacing top part) not because connector but because of i brake the plastic lol. as well as will try to do another update for overheating. will see!
@@Makhnovets Yeah. Anyway I ended up installing a cheap thermal pad and it let me record for an hour before I got a thermal warning. Still not perfect but that's better than the 5 minutes I was getting before. :) I'm sure there's some more tweaking I can do to the thermal pad to improve it a little more but I'm pretty satisfied with this result. Thanks for recording this video!
In the case of cpu's you want the thinnest possible paste to link the heatsink to the chip. In this picture the paste is gunked on heavily. Performance could likely be improved with a cleaner installation. Thanks for the teardown though. Good to know. I have an old a6300 that could use this mod.
in teory yes, but paracticly newer tryd, was thinking about soldering the 3.5 to internal microphone and try it out but newer had time to do this... defenatly will try sometime!
I am very curious about this. Ever seen a camera repair service that offered this modification in my country based on its internal, but did not show detailed images. Only shows a picture of a little soundcard that has 2 jacks, input (mic) and output (speaker)

I tried, the camera still disassembled, there no progress so far, will try to mess a little with a hot shoe, will see what gonna happen! but thanks for asking, nice to know that you are still interesting!
the lcd band seems to be big enough to flip the screen up like the other Sony cameras, wonder if there’s a replacement bracket to flip the screen up all the way
Yes, but i did replace the aluminum plate for the thermal silicone. Giving me around 40-50min, it depends on how high temperature is inside the area you working. Make sure to keep the screen open!
The best way to do it is to find an electronic technician to make it for you if you don't know how to do it properly. In that case, you may not damage your camera.
I know the best way, but it not smartest one)) just cut open the panel under the screen. It definitely helps dissipate heat! I didn’t do it. Just stupid idea. After all I’m not the professional technician, but i have knowledge in soldering and radio repair, I know that I did lots of mistakes here, but it did help, not much but enough to notice it.
Thank you for the video. But when I assembled the camera, I got a broken built-in flash and viewfinder. Do you have any ideas why? I disassembled the camera again and checked all the connectors - all looks good...
Check the sensor on the view finder, you might just scr it or it coverd with the plastick also check the settings, the think if you do the disassembling like i dide on the video you will not toch the VFinder any how, unless you damage the harness...
@@Makhnovets yes, I didn't touch the viewfinder during disassembling. Not only the viewfinder doesn’t work for me, but the flash also... But when I touch the flash connector - I feel a high voltage...
Yeah, potentially you not getting too much benefit from it, also, there lots of small things that you can damage if you not accurate.in 20-24c’ it’s ok, it will show the overheating sign, but not gonna turn off, but outside in the summer it’s not good, and not enough of that fix. Keep the screen pop open and battery compartment, the benefit will be similar. Try to sell the a6000 and get the a6100 instead, you still can get $3-500 for a6000, and a61000 used is around $7-900.
Ever tried replacing the memory card reader? Mine died for some reason, did a test disassembly yesterday using your video and I reassembled from the motherboard up and it's working fine. I however was shocked, quite heavily, twice during disassembly, any idea how to let the camera discharge? Thanks!
What do you mean discharge? make sure all the connectors are connected properly, i forgot to connect one. once i try to resolder micro sd slot, but fail, my soldering skills wasnt that good.
also try to clean all the pins with rubbing alcohol, it might help, or check for some special liqud for cleanning the electric pins, they usually gold plated, so try not to scratch them!
just remove evrything you put there. it's really low chance you will mess anything up, exept forget to connect something or disconnect, or rip the wiring.

if i'm outside i still open the battery case and flip the screen, it helps for a little, i would say 20% but if its 80f outside it will less for a 30min. indoor i can use my for an hour with termosteat set to 74f.

@@Makhnovets Thanks for the reply, I mean "empty" the camera of any electricity. While working with it I got shocked by it, like literally twice.
I did this on my A6000, applied 2 layers of 1mm, the parts behind the screen gets hotter now, is that normal?
No, the heat have to go somewhere true thermal paste to alum plate, double its not better, it's worst.
Look for thermal compound, that's gonna be better solution and not as messy as thermal paste and aluminum.
Any issues after 2 years?
Still overheats, the performance is a little better but not much) but yes, the camera working just fine, no problems at all! in use every day!
