Gorr VS Kratos - Who Would Win? When it comes to the art of god slaying, there is arguably no one that does it better than Gorr from Marvel Comics and Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta from the God of War franchise. With God of War Ragnarok coming out soon and with Gorr's recent appearance in the MCU, there is no better time than now to dive into which of these two pantheon destroyers would come out on top if they were to fight. Who is stronger? Who is faster? Who is more experienced, versatile, and overall the better fighter? I go over both characters' stats and attributes to find out the answer to this legendary matchup.

That's why comparing comic characters makes no sense because usually they'd be average but then one run they are suddenly powerful enough to destroy reality (See Thor and Loki).

Marvel's gods in the comics are way more powerful than GoW gods.

Just a fun fact concerning Kratos scaling, the blade of Olympus never killed the titans because if u watch the cutscene Kratos saved them by traveling through time
Yeah but it was implied over and over again the blade had the power to and would have killed the titans had Kratos not saved them.

Given Kratos’ tendency to defy fate; I like to think that Ares got the right kid.
The all black would definitely could favor young kratos to gor since young kratos would basically be the perfect host for it but I'm not sure about old man kratos. That kratos seems more laid back. Also I'm more interested to see how powerful Atreus will become since he is alot stronger than kratos was at his age. Kratos at his age was not even capable of killing fodder monsters yet yet Atreus was out here bodying groups of dark elves by himself when he was just 10 to 12 years old after kratos had gone into the light of alfheim. He also has kratos short temper as stated by kratos which is why kratos tries to teach him to control it the entirety of the last game.

@@thejuggl3r442 if kratos actually wanted to kill Thor in God of War, he would've easily killed him without needing his magic. The young and prime thor are kinda lame the only real contender is Old Thor. Kratos still is a much better hand to hand fighter.
@@Guts48 In GOWR during the first encounter, Kratos was holding back which is why he got his ass beat. During the second encounter he definitely wasn't. Sure he got the upper hand on Thor but it's not like he did so easily.
Now we gotta talk about the Thor in the Marvel Universe. Marvel's Thor is arguably much stronger than the GOW version. Kratos struggled to beat that singular version of Thor, while on the flip side Gorr managed to hold his own against 3 different versions of Thor. All of whom are extremely powerful. I don't think that young Thor is as strong as the GOW Thor but the others definitely are. You saying that prime Thor is "kinda lame" is WILD tho 😆

If the Necrosword made a weak asf guy like Gor that strong. Imagine how strong it would become with Kratos as it's host.
I feel like Kratos is just so angry that he wouldn’t let another god killer solo him without a massive fight or close ending, although the necro sword choosing kratos over gorr would be super interesting to see

Few more things to point out as well for Kratos:
In GW1,2 and 3 he comes back from the dead on his own will and even when he simply wants death he seems unable to achieve it (ie: How he survives GW3.)
It's also shown that he possess a powerful regenerative ability (which immortal killing weapons don't work on) as demonstrated by how other gods were unable to regenerate like him, bearing baldur is an exception since he cannot be killed or hurt by anything till the mistletoe was used.
Another thing is that his main feats, demonstrated are both nerfed/weakened version of himself.
As in GW2 his god of war powers were taken from him, and so he fought the sisters of fate while only having a fraction none of that power yet appearing to have grown stronger since then.
In GW3 the power he obtained from GW2 were taken from him as well in the river of souls there. So bar Neptune who suffered the quickest defeat as a result, Hades was defeated while Kratos was at his weakest and same to all other gods, exception being zeus where he seemingly recovered his powers and even grew stronger to the point he was comparable to his GW2 version if not superior again since not only did he won against zeus but the evil possessing him after he was fatigue from the fight before and almost influenced by it.
So with current Kratos, the one from the soft reboot, he hasn't lost any of his powers and is simply holding back. and could be assumed as stronger then his previous feats.
This is kind of proven with how he shrugs off blows from baldur, easily overpowers him once serious and kills him once he was sure he would not become a better person.

Just some additional stuff that Ragnarok confirms:
He can be predicted, read and have his future seen. But he holds the power to deny that and change it, this is proven with the sisters of fate, and now confirmed hilmder- However you write his name.
So he has some level of fate manipulation/destiny control, where he can simply deny stuff?
It's also proven once more thanks to thor, being decked by a unrestrained kratos for a moment and then nearly being killed by a, partially (self) restrained kratos, later on that proves he does scale above thor. And could technically destroy the tree of Ygdrasil as expected, however nothing more.
Another thing is that Greek gods are apparently just conceptual beings or are on that level according to Ragnarok since Mimir and other gods all say that their abilities are tied to the magic of the land and that such powers are extremely dangerous to even have. But the greek gods don't have the same limitation and can simply use their powers without restraint or worry.
So with that we've obtained proof that Kratos resisted conceptual time manipulation to erase his existence and possibly other shenanigans, resisted conceptual immortal killing weapons (as that is a greater feat that enduring conceptual attacks), and defeated conceptual beings while also then manipulating their conceptual elements.
Which makes his feats against greek gods even more frightening since it means that he defeated the conceptual gods of death (dying and souls) twice, defeated conceptual speed (hermes), defeated the concept of fate (through the sisters of fate) and the supreme deity who rules those things (zeus) that was being controlled by evil.
Another thing I just remembered:
Isn't Kratos partially tireless? According to GW2 and GW3... Everything he did was back to back with no time to spare and the only time he was close to tired was at the end after fighting zeus.
Don't get me wrong he does get tired, (specially pre GW2 time period), as he was still under the assumption of being human.
But that tiredness quickly fades as he starts letting rage guide him so.... Possibly facing an army and coming out of it without fatigue doesn't seem all to impossible though I can't give proof either that he is officially tireless.

And as a result kratos doesn't have the same level of feats as Gor, since kratos would scale only to thor or 2 thors.
Yes. Because based on everything I said you kind of realise he scales beyond what is shown and we never really go a proper power ceiling for him. Specially when in current games his actively holding back to avoid reverting to his old ways based on how once he does go loose for a moment he easily destroys the norse gods.
That and composite kratos is a fucking monster because it would mean he has all of his equipment and magic (which technically buff his stats more since his using the powers of other gods on top of his own).
However that's not really easy to explain or prove compared to feats without bias or false assumptions.

Which is why I placed my point more as a question since I don't have solid statement from a writter saying he is.
This fight is one of the most close ones I’ve thought of as well. Both are broken and cool characters facing powerful gods

Gorr is pretty broken despite not having many appearances. A mere construct from him taking Thor hours to beat is insane.
It would be a great battle to see if somebody animated it. I like the idea of the nekro sword choosing Kratos as it’s user, I feel like the weapons, and tools he use would be absorbed by the nekro sword, passing their powers onto the sword.
The fact that it could go either way are why I love when power scalers know how to pick a good vs battle

It was explained by freya that it wasnt the actual world tree, just an artistic interpretation in game, the actual world tree is what you travel on when you fast travel

I don’t see that happening anymore with the current Kratos.
Marvel has a bunch of good gods. And I can’t picture the current Kratos hating them.
Especially when someone like Marvel Thor actively protects people all the time.
As for the evil gods, he would prefer to mind his own business rather than fight them. He isn’t a superhero. He would kill them if they mess with him though.
It was Apollo's Flame that Kratos used to burn Gyges. Which makes sense as Apollo's Bow is your main ranged weapon in GoW3, so Apollo was clearly a fairly powerful god whose flames could fold Titans.
Worth noting, Gyges was apparently the greatest challenge Kratos encountered at that point so take it as you will.

So I won’t lie I am bias towards Kratos 😅 but I see the feats of Gorr, but then again Kratos has come up against one impossible foe after another and I feel as though Kratos would just over come Gorr just like any other. Where as Gorr never over came anything or passed his own limits. Also that one narrative point about the sword going to Kratos I would apply that to this fight. Just like Kisame losing his sword to killer B.

Things the God's Kratos battles never felt universal they felt like they the were powerful in their own region while the God's Gorr fought were universal.
@@LarryBonson Yea that true. I think also it’s the context in which they stand in. Gorr is in a comic so the writers do way more through spans of issues. Kratos is governed by game mechanics and the setting of those mechanics.
It’s the very thing that’s always conflicting. Like Gorr from the movie seemed way more different then the comics. Just the Context but if we remove that setting Kratos is in, maybe just maybe he may have a bigger chance. Buuuut Gorr coming in and becoming a construct and making the necroverse now that’s deep lol. I love Kratos for sure, but over all if he wins he wins.

I think the video did a decent job explaining Kratos’ powers but it’s hard to scale both fighters. Like why exactly is marvel’s tree ‘bigger’ than the one in GOW.

I agree with you. Gorr takes awin. He was fighting Old king Thor(it actually took 3 Thors to defeat him) and Kratos doesn't scale to Odin/Thor at his peac from Marvel.

Marvel just has way better scaling with more to it then Kratos’ series does, Gorr in that case is given some solid scaling

I love kratos as the next guy but man Gorr fr the OG been doing this before Kratos was even born he's years ahead in skills and knowledge of killing gods.Kratos left Greece not to long ago and there's still different pantheons for him to run through while Gorr already ran through most of the pantheons.
Kratos has the abilities that the fates had before he erased them from time meaning he could simply cut gorr's thread of fate ending his life

Even then Gorr has killed every pantheon in king thor timeline since he's been at it for 900 years with him.Kratos can control time but even then Gorr can make his way around it since he's killed time and space gods plus gorr doesn't even have to be in the area Black berserks are enough to keep kratos at bay.

Even when people highball and jack Kratos he's still not as strong as a lot of comic book chatacters. Kratos is basically a child version of Gorr. Gorr has slayed thousands of Godly pantheons including the greek and Kratos has slayed one and a half. The fact that some people think Kratos wins is ridiculous, and I love Kratos Im playing ragnarok right now
Gorr cannot manipulate time during combat like Kratos. Kratos uses time dilation in combat with Hemdal's sword (if I'm not mistaken)... in addition to this sword, Kratos uses time dilation while dodging, dealing fast and deadly damage.
And for those who are sure that the necrosword is better than blades ... I will say that the blades hold the original fire in themselves, the original magic that gave life and the beginning of the existence of universes.
Surtr used cosmic fire whose temperature is colossal ... and it didn't even really melt the blades. The same Mjolnir would melt, given that it was made from an extinct star (like he said correctly)
I mean to the both questions its a no, Gorr is from marvel comics and it took three different thors to kill him. I like Kratos alot but I aint wanking Kratos to get the win.

@@GreaterGrievobeast55 it doesn't have to be complicated. hyperversal is 12th dimensional and up and outerversal is being above the concept of dimensionality so you would be above 12 dimensional, 13d, 153d, etc

I’d love to see a video giving a rundown on Dante from DMC. I see too many other videos that downplay him in matchups when in reality he’s capable of defeating the Doomslayer and Kratos. Other than that, I’m glad to see Gorr getting some recognition. Nice one.
Dante is not beating kratos or doomslayer
People downplay him because they don't understand the lore side of things. Not to mention all of his seemingly endless techniques and abilities. Plus he one shotted foes like Argosax. Lastly without the limits of game mechanics he has his devil forms

That's why he tried to leave all of it behind in the Norse lands. Whereas by the time, Gorr encounters Thor, he's already ended thousands of pantheons and is still hungry for more.
There is no world in which the Necrosword chooses Kratos over Gorr.
