    Great info, Jennifer! Thank you! I messed up a tumbler so I had my husband spray paint over it with flat matte black and then put white vinyl on it "SMOOTHIE" and it's now my dedicated smoothie tumbler.

    Very informative video. If using the silicone sleeve, does it take longer to sublimate?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  28 дней назад

      No, using a silicone sleeve on a tumbler generally does not significantly increase the sublimation time; the primary function of the sleeve is to apply even pressure to the design on the tumbler, not to affect the heat transfer time itself, so the press time should remain largely the same.

    Great video, is a convectional oven the only heat source to use?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  2 месяца назад +1

      While a convection oven is a popular and effective heat source for sublimation on tumblers, it is not the only option. The key is to ensure that the heat source can reach the necessary temperature range for sublimation ink activation, which is between 354-400 degrees Fahrenheit (175-204 degrees Celsius). Here are a few alternatives:
      Heat Press: Although typically used for flat surfaces like t-shirts, some heat presses come with attachments that allow you to sublimate on cylindrical objects like tumblers.
      Heat Gun: A heat gun can be used in combination with shrink wrap tubes to apply heat directly to the tumbler. This method requires careful handling to ensure even heat distribution.
      Sublimation Oven: Similar to a convection oven, a sublimation oven is specifically designed for sublimation projects and can be used for tumblers.

    Can you bake off the design with a press?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  11 месяцев назад

      You can use a convection over or heat gun. A press may be a challenge. Here is the tutorial. jennifermaker.com/how-to-remove-sublimation-ink-from-tumbler/

    since the Tumbler cant go into the dishwasher & can only be hand washed to save any scratches is to use contact paper ( the same thing you cover books with ) & to date i havent had any problems with this method

    I was trying to sublimate just a solid black color on a tumbler. It turned out less black and more speckled. Can i just do black over it again without having to remove the first color?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  4 месяца назад

      It's generally better to press your design just once for the best results. If you do want to press it again to achieve a darker black, you can do so, but you need to be careful with the process.
      Here are some tips:
      Wrap the Entire Tumbler: Use a liner that covers the whole tumbler for a consistently colored press.
      Avoid Tape Overlaps: If you must use tape, ensure that it doesn't cover any part of your existing design, as the areas with tape may press differently.

    How do I take off sublimation off a glass cup?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  5 месяцев назад

      You can try these steps to try to remove small spots.
      1. **Isopropyl Alcohol**: Use a paper towel or cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol to rub the sublimated area. The alcohol will help to break down the sublimation ink.
      2. **Heat**: Apply heat to the sublimated area using a heat gun or hairdryer. This can help to loosen the ink. Be careful not to overheat the glass to avoid breaking it.
      3. **Scraping**: Gently scrape the sublimated area with a plastic scraper or a similar tool. Avoid using metal tools as they can scratch the glass.
      4. **Repeat**: You may need to repeat the process several times to completely remove the sublimation ink.
