I use my tiny Cricut vinyl scraper tool that came with my tool set to push those little spots at the top and bottom down. I also scrape the tape going down the seam and this has given me wonderful results!
I can't thank you enough for this video. I made my first tumbler after watching your video and it came out absolutely perfect. I've made thirty of them now and not one turned out bad. They are all perfect! Thank you so much!

I had stopped making tumblers, I was so frustrated, but a return customer requested them. I put them off as long as I could, then decided to see if there was any new advice. They came out GREAT, both of them, because of you! Thank you so much for sharing your taping method and the line at the edge, I love how that looks.
I usually used a scraper to scrap the wrinkles out of the top and the bottom so you don’t get that weird little ripple effect. I only use one layer of tape and it has worked for me. :) thanks for all the tips. Have a blessed day.
Thanks for the tip! I have seen people use different things to push against the side with great results. Some even roll the edge of the tumbler on the table. For me, I’ve found that I sometimes miss a spot by just doing that. But I should try using a scraper, then adding my second piece of tape. I like the idea of having some help getting the wrinkles out. Thanks again for the tip, and thanks for watching!
I never tape the top and bottom of my tumbler and I never have an issue. I felt when I tape the top and bottom I always had an issue. I also use clear tape and remove the air from the inner seam and outer seam and with the clear tape I can see my seam seal up. To remove the air from my tape seam I use a matha stuard card maker tool, It works perfect. I also use the shrink wrap. I have a tumbler press but I perfer to use the same oven you used. By the way my first oven, the same one after making a lot of tumblers caught fire. Thanks so much for another great video.
You know, it’s funny. Some people have to over tape the edges (me) to get good results, and some people don’t tape the edges at all with great results! I can get away with not taping sometimes, but I’ve found a 100% consistent great result by taping the way I do, so I just keep on doing it that way. I admire those of you who can get by without taping! Thanks for watching!
I found it! Would you have any recommendations on how to fix white edges ? One has solid colors so I’m thinking if we cut out the colors that are missing and tape to repress that may work..
Thanks for sharing your process. The few tumblers I did I did not add tape around the top and bottom. I did use shrink wrap and had no issues around those areas. I use a NuWave Convection Oven. Tracey
Hey, Tracey! I tried not taping the top and bottom when using my convection oven, but even with the shrink wrap, I just couldn’t get great results. I wish I could reduce my tape usage, but I guess I shouldn’t complain, as it’s working! Thanks for watching!
@@industrialfringe953 As they say, leave it alone if it ain't broke. Thus far haven't had any issues with the seam but do like the look of adding that solid line. I may need to try that.
Hi! Thank you for this informational video! What size do you make your sublimation image? I am just starting and have been experimenting with taping to see what works best!
Thank you! My prints are 9-1/4” by 8-1/8”. There is about 1/16 - 1/32” design overlap and just under 1/8” white paper overlap. The hope is the total overlap, design and white paper is around 1/8”.
Very educational video! I learned so much from you. I do epoxy tumblers and I have been longing to dive into sublimation. After this video, that's it! ☺️ I'm saving for it. Thanks!

Happy New Year - I give it a slight white border at the bottom so i dont deal with the ghosting. It's been very effective for me since using the method. For the top i do keep it flush with the edge.
Yes, Carlos, I was doing the exact same thing, especially with designs that had a lot of color. With the addition of the second piece of tape pulled VERY tightly along the edge, it’s given me the ability to extend the design closer to or to the bottom. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year to you!
What temperature are you pressing at? I see so many different temps and times but I have never seen anyone else rotate 4 times like you and that is a wonderful idea. Pressing twice has never cut it on all 9 I have tried for full wraps. Excited to try your method!
Definitely try it! I swear by it! I press at 365 degrees with the seam at the 9 o’clock position (looking at the bottom) for 50 seconds, rotate 180 degrees (seam at 3 o’clock position) for 50 seconds, rotate 90 degrees (seam at 6 o’clock position) for 25 seconds, rotate 180 degrees (seam at 12 o’clock position) for a final 25 seconds. If you get a chance, check out some of my other videos. I go over the process in at least one other video! Thanks for watching!
I tape center then two on each side then stright up the middle.. and around the top and bottom piece by piece like what you do on the seems, then you have better control and then wrap painters top, bottom, seem( not the whole cup . No shrink wrap . Then in the oven at 360 for a total of 5 mins flipping at 2.5 ** I like them without the seem
Thank you so much for this video! What are the measurements of your prints for the 20 oz skinny tumblers? I just ordered this tape and can’t wait to try your technique!
You’re very welcome! My measurements are 9-1/4” by just under 8-1/8”. I love the wide tape, this tape has never left any residue, and I won’t wrap any other way! Thanks for watching!
This was a fantastic tutorial. I learned alot. I actually have that same tape too. I did my first tumbler today (before watching this video) & I noticed the tape left it's mark on the tumbler. What does that mean and how should I avoid it for the next time? Thank you.
The most common reason for seeing tape marks is too much pressure in a press. Do you use a press? If so, try backing off of the pressure and only doing light pressure. Thanks for watching!
I used the silicone bands when I bake in an oven! I’m not sure that they helped me, but I don’t think they hurt, so I used them often (in the oven!) Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the videos, really helping me out. I am having trouble getting the top of the tumbler right. I have tried your way and a bunch of other ways, not sure why its coming out lighter on top. I even tried increasing the pressure on the press, still lighter on top. Any suggestions other then what you have already put out there?
Hey, Eric, a couple of questions. Is it just the top or the top and bottom? If it’s just the top. I’d try rotating the tumbler to see if your top is getting enough heat. If it’s a press, flip it. If it’s an oven, turn it upside down. If that’s not it, I’m at a loss. Good luck! And thanks for watching!
@@industrialfringe953 the heat press looks like the on you have in the video I checked temp with a temp gun seems to run 10 to 20 degrees hotter then what is displayed. If it's temp, it might not be getting enough where I am putting the heat tape. I will try raising temp to 380 on my next attempt. Or should I increase the time at each turn of the tumbler?
Hey, Edie! My measurements are usually 9-1/4” wide by just under 8-1/8” tall. There are times I get tumblers that require me to adjust that size just a little bit, but that’s where I always start (and usually stay!) Thanks for watching!
You mentioned 50 seconds, at what temperature is being used, please advise thank you. I am having issues being a newbie. how do you determine the pressure of the press
I use Photoshop. I have a template layer that I can put over the design, select the template outline with the Magic Wand, then select the design layer and click delete. I cover a little bit it in this video. ruclips.net/video/fnKszy7Y86M/видео.htmlsi=5foBkk_4K4FUgtCg Thanks for watching!

Hello, the seam that you do at the end, how do you do that? Is it done at the time that you press, or can you do this as a fix when you have a white line you need to hide. I'm just starting and I have a lot of tumblers with a white line :(
Hey, Megan, thanks for asking! Check out my video, “The Secret To Perfect Seams, And How To Make Seams Using Photoshop Elements” for an in-depth answer. ruclips.net/video/NdPoK3I4xTM/видео.html If you have any additional questions, feel free to join our Facebook group! Thanks for watching!
By toaster oven, I’m guessing it’s not a convection. (My convection oven is a toaster oven with a convection setting.) I haven’t personally used them, but I see lots of people using regular toaster ovens, I believe you just need to turn the tumbler a couple of times during the baking process.
I am excited to try this new method later today!!! The tops and bottoms of my tumblers always came out great when I was using a convection oven, but I can see some issues caused by puckering at the top/bottom with my tumbler press. However, the main part of my designs are more crisp with the tumbler press. So, maybe I can finally get one that I am happy with:) Thanks so much!!!
Marilyn, please let me know how it comes out! Make sure to try and remove the creases after the first piece of tape with your fingernail, then pull super tight with the second piece of tape, focusing only on the edge!
@@industrialfringe953 I sure will and I really appreciate how you tried so many variations on your method until you were happy with it! I was temped to send this press back but I just love how crisp the images are when I use it:) If I can get my top and bottom right, I am going to be thrilled!!!
@@industrialfringe953 Oh my goodness Roy!!!! I tried this method and it worked soooooo well! I have just 2 tiny flaws - I call them flaws but no one would ever notice them except for me🤣 I do think my design might be a bit too tall at 8.15 inches. I will go back to see what size of design you use. Thank you so much for sharing your experimentation and sharing your knowledge!
Hello! Thank you so much for doing this video! I ordered the tape dispenser and thicker tape and will try your method once they arrive. What temperature do you set your tumbler press to? I apologize if I missed it. I also looked through the comments to see if anyone had already asked but I didn’t find the answer.
I'm so sorry do you have a video hiw your measuring and cutting your wraps. I think my problem is I either have too much over lap or cut the top and bottom short to avoid the edges from ghosting
I’ll definitely work on trying to add a video (or maybe a short) on measuring, cutting a d wrapping the paper. In a nutshell, my top is flush with the top of the cup, my bottom is long enough to just start curving on the bottom, and my paper overlap is about 1/8” total (1/16” image and 1/16” blank paper). Sometimes that 1/16” is more like 1/8”, but I try to keep it at 1/16”.

Can you show us how you add that seam to the design? Do you have a video on how you create your design n where (Program)? Thank you
Hey, Atina, I sure do! Check out this video! ruclips.net/video/NdPoK3I4xTM/видео.html Thanks for watching!
@@industrialfringe953 thank you 🥰
Love your video thank you. What are your measurements for a 20oz tumblers if you don't mind
Hey, Edie! My measurements are usually 9-1/4” wide by just under 8-1/8” tall. There are times I get tumblers that require me to adjust that size just a little bit, but that’s where I always start (and usually stay!) Thanks for watching!
Your videos are so helpful!! Thank you!!
Thanks so much! And thanks for watching!
You mentioned 50 seconds, at what temperature is being used, please advise thank you. I am having issues being a newbie. how do you determine the pressure of the press
What do you use for programs? Sizing for cups so seams don't show amazing tumblers thanks in advance ❤
Thanks I subscribed! I like the one you made!

Do you sell any prints? I don’t have a printer so I’m looking into buying ready to press designs.I love what you do with seams
I’m not currently set up to sell prints, but hope to be in a month or two! Join the Facebook group where I’ll be able to easily update! And thanks for watching!
Hello, the seam that you do at the end, how do you do that? Is it done at the time that you press, or can you do this as a fix when you have a white line you need to hide. I'm just starting and I have a lot of tumblers with a white line :(
Can you please share with me how you are adding you line for the seam?
Hey, Megan, thanks for asking! Check out my video, “The Secret To Perfect Seams, And How To Make Seams Using Photoshop Elements” for an in-depth answer. ruclips.net/video/NdPoK3I4xTM/видео.html If you have any additional questions, feel free to join our Facebook group! Thanks for watching!
Thanks and, That tumbler you personally made is… HA-LARI-US🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks, it was fun to make! Thanks for watching!
Do you the wrap for sale ?
Learned a lot thanks. I have a toaster oven though
By toaster oven, I’m guessing it’s not a convection. (My convection oven is a toaster oven with a convection setting.) I haven’t personally used them, but I see lots of people using regular toaster ovens, I believe you just need to turn the tumbler a couple of times during the baking process.
I love your videos, do you have a tutorial on how you created that extra seam? I think that is such a great method and would love to try it!
Thank you! And yes, as a matter of fact, I do! ruclips.net/video/NdPoK3I4xTM/видео.html Thanks for watching!
You’ll get them down, I’m sure! And if this doesn’t work, let me know and we’ll figure something else out!
That’s fantastic! It’s worked really well for me. (On my current tumblers, my height is about 8.12.) Thanks again for watching!
Hello! Thank you so much for doing this video! I ordered the tape dispenser and thicker tape and will try your method once they arrive. What temperature do you set your tumbler press to? I apologize if I missed it. I also looked through the comments to see if anyone had already asked but I didn’t find the answer.
Here’s a video i made with my time and temp. ruclips.net/video/yOqxHEZgPwk/видео.html Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! Very helpful !
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Thank you. Great video.
Thanks so much! And thanks for watching!
You are awesome. Thank you so much. Question, how do you add the seam?
