I was in my young 20's when this came out. Oh my god Jennifer Connelly. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Now I'm 61. To the younger generation. You have no idea how fast life is once you responsibilities start. Make the best of your young years.
I was like 5... and now in my 40s. Yep.
Turning 35 in August, i swear i blinked at 19 and found myself here. WTF.. And now with 2 kids, time is going double speed
Couldn't have said it better!
Absolutely spot on 👌❤
SOOOO TRUE
Still sounds better than anything new on the radio

@@nikkobetsbets7790 Kings of Leon is good but not good as AFOS ✌🏼

Paul Reynolds still doesn't miss a beat. He plays like he's 18 years old again and back on tour in the 80s. He is such an awesome guitarist. 🎸
God yes!!! He is phenomenal!
True! Take away The Edge's digital delay pedal and he's nothing compared to Paul.
He was 14 or 15 when he joined AFOS! Amazingly talented boy at the time. Listen to his work on It's Not Me Talking.
he needs to get back into the studio with others.. *HINT HINT* :D

This song is a damn masterpiece
I agree a thousand percent
Yes!
Truly
especially when it's used in a jennifer connelly opportunity knocks tribute video
It was a grand masterpiece back then....somehow the Gulls managed to improve upon it. :D
I'm 59 , listening to this takes me back to where I was happiest. This by far was and is the greatest generation of music. It had feeling and dove itself into the hearts of all who lived thru the 80's. It will live on forever .❤
Very well said! My feelings exactly!
Very well said.
Agreed. I'm 59 as well. The golden age of music, to me at least, fell in-between 1964 to 1989. A great 25 year period. The Beatles started it all. Early 90's grunge was the last really interesting genre of music, it's been a slow painful slide downward since then. But that is my opinion.
I'm 55 and it seems we all remember when MTV actually played videos.
A therapist will actually agree that 80s music is far more uplifting than the autotuned rubbish released today. Born 76, so glad I got to be an 80s kid :)
I love how happy the bassist is to be here. All smiles, warms my heart.
Frank Maudsley is the man :-)
Yes he is obviously having the best time and loving it. I'm not surprised it's brilliant 😊
God created 80's music for us growing up because he knew we would need it again someday, this takes me back to a much simpler time

80’s,,, wow those of us there didn’t realise how lucky we were with the music then
same for us late 70's babies who understood this th entire time thanks to those 80's kids we wished we were vs well maybe vice versa
1000% agreed. The 80’s will never be duplicated, greatest time ever.
Fantastic time to grow up. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could.

Yeah i loved the 80s .
I remembered seeing my brother in the car singing this when we would be going down the road, i lost him at 35,i was 32. It devestated me. And then lost my dad and best friend, that was 24 years ago and its 2024 today. I cant believe i survived
Thank goodness you did, they all live on through your memories and now you have shared those memories.
A beautiful thing to do.
Losing people you love is the hardest thing.
Unfortunately they don't make music like this anymore. I wish they did. Flock of Seagulls Forevermore!!!
I’m 23 years old and this is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard hands down. This is true art
Great to see a new generation finding this. 👍👏
I'm 63 and thanks for discovering this.
Our music wasn’t bad
I was lucky enough for this song to come out right when I was hitting puberty. The emotional changes totally intensified the experience of the song to me, and the memory of the song is more powerful because of that.
You said that hands down this is the most beautiful song you've ever heard, Isaac. I'd like to share another one with you to see what you think: m.ruclips.net/video/cSPOhT0Omzw/видео.html
This was the 80's, my friend. What a lovely time to be a kid...😢😢
My mom passed away two years ago and every time I've heard my dad listening to this he's cried about her. And now in turn I cry thinking of my mother and just how much they loved eachother.
Edit: today is the third anniversary of her passing.
Both sad and beautiful at the same time. 🥺
💕
@Nate_TheSniper 14, my Dad died this year, I can say I have witnessed that type of love, witnessing it in my Mom and Dad, and you with your parents. Peace be with you and your Dad.

The orchestra adds an amazing depth to this song.

Just great.

My god I'm 56 now and this is still in my top 5. I love this in my car on loop....over and over 😅😅😅
so what
I do the same thing in my car love this song ❤
Every time I hear this song I see Jennifer Connelly. Long live the 80s!
As much as I love the Target version, I pretty much watch this one exclusively. Seeing them playing it and the orchestra give it a special feel. Their mannerisms are still there. Great stuff.
at that time was sexy...now it's perplexity with a side dish of memories.
Not a bad image 😉
She has aged like this song , exceedingly well.

I'm 59 and listening to this makes me feel young again! I loved A Flock of Seagulls and I absolutely loved the 80's!!!
I'm the same age and we were the 80s
AFOS was an incredibly talented band and still are amongst the greatest. Their music echos through time.
I'm 42 and listening. I absolutely love it

Hells yeah!!!!! 80s was the best for music! So many different genres i was introduced to: speed, death, thrash metal ! Punk, hardcore, crossover and new wave! Thanks 80s but, you can keep your fashions. Mind blowing for a little town hick kid from a little hick town in Ashtabula ,Ohio!!!!!

You are still young
You're 6 years older than my 2nd oldest child, and you were about the same age I was when The Beatles hit America. You're still
young but its always good to look back at great memoties, don't forget them.
1973 was a good year almost as good as '71😉

I showed this video to my oldest daughter, 31, and she says this is their best song, hands down...and she doesn't know why it doesn't get as much air play as "I Ran". This version almost brought me to tears. ❤️
You gave them the ultimate accolades and brings conclusion to a great chapter in life.
Pp
Probably due to the ties between certain labels and who owns the stations. Oingo Boingo also gets no airtime
Agree💯
It gets a fair amount of air play now due to it's appearance in the GTA franchise, but still not enough as it should get. I remember it got played heaps when it first came out in the 80's. Those were the days!
The grammy they won for this version was well deserved. It's an incredibly beautiful song and I cannot believe it's 40 years old. I was in middle school when their hit Wishing ( I had a photograph) made its way onto the USA's airwaves and I've thanked the band ( in my heart and soul) every single day since then. Those of us who were blessed to be at the age when music was becoming just as influential to who we'd become as the hormones that were kicking in. My 80s musical taste comprised of the iconic sounds of New Wave, Punk, New Romantic, and Death Rock which all became part of my DNA. I am unapologetically proud to say that I am a card-carrying Gen Xer. I cannot wait to see you in February 2023!!
I freaking LOVE being a Gen Xer!! The greatest Gen!
Yep and I ran was probably the only song that most degenerates remember from this crew. I'm 49 and Bald like the rest of them. That doesn't have anything to do with shit, just saying
I was on board with the band from the beginning and got all their albums through the Columbia House club. As much as I loved all their previous work, *The Story Of A Young Heart* is there opus that I adored.
Really digging this version. Reminds me of the best times of my life, the '80's.

I hit major milestones in the 80s, getting confirmed, graduating from high school and college, then getting married in that decade, so I'm truly an 80s baby (didn't become a mom until the 90s), and I loved every delicious second of this. What a brilliant pairing of musical groups! It touched my mind and made me cry. Thanks, everyone.
Flock's hair or not, we all get old. This song is TIMELESS!
Donnie Darko They look older than I would expect. Paul is maybe 57. But their sound is ageless
They look better now.
The best part of this is seeing Paul Reynolds back on guitar. He was just a kid when the original came out but he had his own style that fit the band to a tee.
Could not have said it better.
You know you're a good guitarist when you have two solos in a song.
mitchell baker I like the smile on the bass players face. I know how much fun he’s having to have that grin like that. Music will do that
@@Alundrahs Frank Maudsley. Did you see him for the Band's Reunited episode? Really a cool guy. I think he was the one who tried to ease tensions between band members. ruclips.net/video/VmjZ_SJna14/видео.html
I had the pleasure of meeting Paul just after he and the band had completed this, a very unassuming, modest man, I hope he's doing well.
Truly a crime how Paul is never mentioned in the annuals of great guitarists … from ‘I Ran’ to ‘Space Age …’ & ‘The More You Love …’, iconic riffs that have stood the test of 40 years
Frank's bass playing is also underrated. You don't realize how complicated the riffs are until you start to transcribe it.
Years ago I took the non verse parts of _Over The Border_ and turned it into a completely different song (at half speed.)
Such beautiful souls, I get tingles every time when I hear this song. Such a beautiful song 🎧 about falling in love. Heaven sent.

NOBODY does music like the Brits. From the Beatles to these guys in the 1980's and the Stereophonics and others in the early 2000's they're always ahead of the curve.
If you're old enough to remember the original, you can't help but grin all the way through this... I was the same age as them then, and the same age now.
Back when he had blond hair.... I remember!
From ear to ear... :-))
Well put sir. I remember them well and this was one of my favorite tunes, simple yet perfect. Also you are correct about another thing, I am still smiling. This song takes me back.

So underrated! ❤
WOW! The Prague orchestra made a great song into an even greater song! ❤❤❤

Paul Reynolds' melodies are underrated. So uncluttered yet so beautiful. He's doing in 3 notes what it takes other guitarists 1,000 notes to accomplish: that feeling.

Such a beautiful song
I'm not the only one with tears
I was good right up until the 2:45 mark. I've always liked classical string instrumentals, and combined with my fave FoS song, it was almost too much. Kids today can only hope their music ages as well as this does, but I doubt most of it will.
like wise, so miss the 80's.
The true beauty of this song was its staggering simplicity. It’s already a classic, no orchestra required.
I’m so damn grateful I grew up during the 80’s. I got to see Star Wars as a kid and bought my first car in ‘86, all to the soundtrack of some of the best music ever recorded. It was so good, I learned how to build car stereo systems long before it became cool in the 90’s.
It’s simply impossible to properly convey just how much fun they were to experience, now that we survived them. My first job was at McDonald’s, when the food tasted so much better than today. Marlboros were $1 a pack and smoking them was still cool. We still got side eye for smoking in school parking lot, which made it even cooler!
Despite living thru all the dramatic change of the digital and internet ages, we ended up in some dark times. 😕
