What state? I've been wanting to do this in my area for awhile now.

I wish parishes would come together to build Orthodox schools regardless of jurisdiction they are from
Pan-Orthodox schools would be the ideal, wouldn't they?
@@JacquelineRPricePan Orthodox parishes would be really helpful. I don't know all the complexities but in over a century there should have been enough time to figure it out in America.
I’m just trying to navigate how to find a spouse

I was having a discussion over coffee with some of my friend from church after liturgy last week. We are all young men working to try to find a career where we can live an orthodox life and have a family. All of us agreed we would not mind being a part time teacher because many people who inspired us to join the church were teachers. We all concurred that we would absolutely not teach for the publics or other secular institutions and working for a protestant or a catholic school would feel wrong to us. I think there are many young people in the church I know who would be great teachers if there were a place for them in an orthodox school.
Christ is in our midst. ☦
I would like one in my own country. Don't forget tho that Orthodox is Catholic. Roman-catholic is just not Orthodox, it's Roman.
Nevertheless, where I live the majority of families are baptised Roman-catholic by default and many families pray and go to Church. The new generations however are leaving this tradition.. it feels like a good time to introduce Orthodoxy ❤
Saint Constantine School. Open in Houston with a new location opening in Pittsburgh this fall.
That's so cool because I am in houston.
It's hilarious that Southerners have had their southpaws on the Holy Orthodox Christian Church for such a short time, and yet they're already building institutions to support Her. Not only are they building new institutions, they're already exporting them back out to the rest of America!
The St Constantine school is an excellent classical Orthodox school headed by the inspiring Dr John Mark Reynolds. I've personally visited there and this is one of the best schools you can send your child to. May the Lord bless their efforts. Fr Stephen David

We are blessed to have an Orthodox K-12 school in Indianapolis - Hagia Sophia Classical Academy.
When I was a missionary's kid in Mongolia (1995-2000), we had a cooperative of home schoolers. It worked quite well. It was primarly run by the mothers.
I visited Mongolia three times between 1991 and 1994, once in Bayan Olgi and twice in Ulan Baator, short term trips with aid packages and obtaining a building for an orphanage. HELP International from Germany.
@@TheMOV13 Good grief the orphanage was needed. Street kids were everywhere. You couldn't even give one of them a tiny morsel of food without at least eight others seeing and swarming you for the same.
@@WilliamSwartzendruber I'm afraid it didn't have a happy ending... It was opened, but in the winter some people broke in through a window, the water pipes burst, the building was damaged and the owner of the building drew back from the lease....
The problem is, there isn't an Orthodox curriculum. Ive looked. What you will find are some good "Catholic" curriculum, who previously aquired their study programs and materials from Protestant homeschool programs.
So in order for a serous Orthodox schooling program to happen, there needs to be ground level infrastructure in place. Or its just a Protestant program with Orthodox veneer.

I hope your Church develops a sound system. I am the product of sixteen years of Catholic education from elementary school through Notre Dame. For better or worse, the education prepared me for the secular world.
One does not need a “curriculum” to educate children. The Bible, classic literature, and studies of The Saints are all you need.

Orthodoxy needs schools and more priests and deacons. Lord help us and have mercy on us ☦
We need orthodox schools!
In America, start in States that offer "School Choice." Use State vouchers to subsidize Orthodox schooling
I was a publicly elected School Trustee for 27 years. I tried to ensure that Christian Morals and virtues were at least respected. But I converted to Holy Orthodoxy 14 years ago. Public Education went terribly off the rails about seven years ago. I tried to speak out, but was horribly vilified in the national media. In their passion to be “Progressive,” public educators have become virulently anti Christian. I now believe that Orthodox parents must avoid Public Education at all costs.
Your Grace, bless. By the grace of God we opened the first classical Orthodox school here in Queensland, Australia in January (we are part of ROCOR, our spiritual head is His Eminence, Archbishop George of Sydney, Australia and NZ) which is named after St John of Kronstadt. I strongly agree with your message, we must create Orthodox schools where our children are taught truth, not lies and propoganda! At the centre of our curriculum is the Divine Liturgy which we celebrate with the students every Wednesday morning. But also, Orthodox parents must support these initiatives by sending their children to these schools. For anyone considering opening a school please know that it is possible and through much prayer, you will see many miracles. Your Grace, please pray for our school, our students, staff and families as we have many hurdles to overcome and need to build a new school campus. With God all things are possible!
I'd love to see this come true. My young generation in the church all have anxiety about having children because of this insane world and the immoral schools out there.
If I come off the mission field and become Orthodox I'd love to be a teacher of Spanish in an Orthodox school.
Are you currently LDS?
@@pattymcintosh-mize2777 No, why would you assume I'm LDS?
I was in your shoes only 3 years ago. The hardest decision in my life, perhaps, but the best. I’m now talking to the OCMC about serving with them one day.
@@JacquelineRPrice - Because you mentioned the mission field. I don't often hear people talk about going on missions outside of my LDS friends.
In Australia, we have quite a few.
My children attended Saint George College Adelaide South Australia.
It has a kindergarten, Primary and High school, with the Church of Saint George in the middle of the campus.
Saint George also provides after school and Saturday morning classes.
The Greek community and other Orthodox communities really support the continued growth and development of this important project.
There’s also an orthodox home schooling co-op focusing on a classical curriculum which is starting in Adelaide!
There is another orthodox school of St. John Chrysostom in Bethlehem Pennsylvania an our outside Philadelphia. A great accomplishment for a little town , with very good orthodox roots . We are so blessed , and many people have come from all over the country .
There is a Greek, Serbian, and OCA parish all in my city. I wish we had an orthodox school, there’s enough orthodox Christians in my city to justify it I think.
What city do you live in? Have you reached out to your bishop to ask them about schools in your area?
Father bless, I am not aware of any orthodox schools in Britain. We desperately need them, especially with the schools today being more determined to indoctrinate our children rather than educate. If my children were still young I would have to home school. My children are all grown up now and I beg them to home school their little ones because of the awful subjects that are being forced upon them. I wish our orthodox churches would all come together with the community to build schools for our precious children. The RC have a lot of educational establishments, primary, secondary schools and colleges we need to do the same.
The monasteries and convents were once centers of education. I promise that we love our children, we simply do not have time to re-school our children after work and school end. Especially single mothers ("widows"). Thank you, Bishop Irenei, for reminding everyone that the children are all of our responsibility. If monks and nuns can offer their gifts and --- free time! -- to the children, while we continue to donate to their communities, that would be most appreciated.
Lord Have mercy. Thank you very much for this. Bless, Father
So true. My small parish does a homeschool co-op, but it meets too far away from us. I do wish there was something closer.
Father, it’s my dream to be able to build schools and communities built around them for all our orthodox churches around the world. I want to be able to help fund any new church construction project with adjacent schools, housing facilities, recreational facilities and places for the kids to study. I also want to make it possible for those churches that need the land to build our churches on accessible without financial restraints on the parishioners. I know this is a monumental task but I don’t like seeing our good people financially struggling to build a place of worship and I’d hope I can create a foundation of sorts to make this possible for all our people worldwide god willing. Thank you for your message. May god have mercy on us all
thank you, your grace. ❤❤❤ may the lord strengthen everyone involved in these endeavours.
I would donate towards that as well as a curriculum that can be done at home.
So true. I am a certified teacher in the US, and I wish we could start Orthodox schools. Catholic schools are not an option, I know after teaching at one.
In Canada anyway, the Catholic schools are no longer catholic in any sense (I personally attended one). In fact, you don't even need to be Catholic to attend one. Anyone who think they will come out of there "Christian" is sadly deluded.
Although not Orthodox per say, the FFA has started one room schoolhouses in small rural communities K-8, with a Christian basis, and a basis around the core basics while also integrating in real time learning and work such as taking care of farm animals, and helping grow food. This is a great general model i feel for the start of Orthodox run schools. We could also take some example from Catholics in this as well.
Thank you Your Eminance! So true!
My heart yearns for an orthodox school. I homeschool my children now, but it’s very difficult as their ages range from 1 to 8. I find myself becoming easily irritated and I’m exhausted every day. I would love to send my children to a school I trust.
Amen!! We need more funding help from the diocese in our Hawaii mission parish locations too!!
I would say the Church needs funding from every feet walking in it. From priest to catechumen, from catechumen tot visitor. And schools can be build from such same funds and extra donations. There are alot of people with certain materials that are meant to be handed out, the rich needs the poor for the poor is of more worth for Christ a wise man ones told me. He said that as long as the wordly riches are not cut off it's hard to find to Lord.

Many seasoned Orthodox people are currently having conversations about homeschooling. You can find recent videos with Dr. Mark Tarpley, Fr. Turbo Qualls, Adam Lockridge, Fr. Seraphim Hamilton, Fr, Josiah Trenham, Fr. Savva Agiorietes (Greek). I have been homeschooling for 20 years and I have never seen so much interest in Orthodox homeschooling, schools, and hybrid models as I have in the last three months.

Orthodox schools are not only beneficial for teachers, since there are many states where they cannot find a job without compromising their conscience
Can we get a charity started? I wouldn’t mind donating what little I can. Let’s open one school. I don’t care where. Let’s make it happen and show the community of Christ what Christians can do
Maybe if we speak to our Bishops about it, they can get the ball rolling. We need their blessing anyways.
There are many Orthodox Schools in the United States, find one nearest to you and support it, unless you are talking about another country. But if you support the ones that are already established it will help others to want to establish more knowing they have the support of the orthodox community.

I understand ROCOR is planning an academy in Queensland . The RC have always valued education but we are picking up speed . Not a huge amount of home schooling in Australia but it is there. Please read the reviews for the app a lot of people are experiencing issues!
The New app is fine aesthetically but there are quite a few bugs especially for the saint of the day portion.
1. It does not automatically update so you have to scroll all the way from jesus's circumcision to the day that you are at, I don't know if this issue has been fixed but it is reoccurring.
2. When you click play all it in fact does not play all the saints of the day but you instead have to manually go in and select each individual saint after the previous one stops, which is quite annoying for those of us who are just trying to listen to them all at one time while at work or driving.
3. Occasionally there is a blank space where typically there would be a saint, I know they have saints for all 365 days of the year but sometimes they are not shown.
These are just a few errors that I have discovered. Otherwise the new app looks great I wish it just functioned a little better.

One thing is the schools have to be affordable or it just ends up becoming an elitest school, a status symbol of the Orthodox wealthy. It’s the way Roman Catholic Schools are.
****At least in the US
If only people would listen and work together, but they don't. Many OCs are too cultural &/or already too worldly. If they talk of an O school, nothing is done. Few are willing to sacrifice whatever it takes for the souls of their Children. I agree 100% with this good post and pray for the Children every day. Many don't seem to realize the dire effects the world has on Children or even themselves.
As an orthodox I would still be skeptical of my children attending such a school when it seems many priests and bishops support modern science of space and planets which aligns with evolution and big bang which none of these are even hinted at or mentioned in the Bible as much as the earth being unmovable and Being enclosed by a firmament is.
Seems the question is about philosophy. Seems even Orthodox schools don't provide this correctly.
Because that's the knowledge of this world to navigate this world, free from ideological influence. The church is here to teach you about God, and school is to teach you about the world.
Where do you live? I’d love to actually send my kids to school with yours. I 100% agree about the space nonsense. God Bless!
What's wrong with the big bang
@@ayo123 Well it's just a theory for one, and definitely not one that always jives with Christianity.
In my old parish there were many parents that started a home school community. I'd like to see more homeschooling across the board. As well as more separated classes for both sexes especially the young men in training. Too much COED activities.
Anyone know where to get Orthodox homeschool curriculum?
There are bits of curriculum here and there. Paidea Classics has some. Orthodox Ethos is publishing a catechism and an Orthodox version of Story of the World.
I have homeschooled for 20 years. We use Institute for the Excellence in Writing, Teaching Textbooks, Apologia for science.
Where can Orthodox Home School resources be found , especially in the Russian Language?
Even just growing up in a school surrounded by a culture that doesn’t champion the loss of virginity as the ultimate sign of success and maturity would be reason enough not to send a child into a modern government school

Are Catholic schools okay for Orthodox children to go to, better than public schools.
?
Well of course we do. Not seeing any K thru 12 Orthodox Schools like we saw Roman Catholic ones everywhere.
Alot of Orthodox Christians home educate their children.
I would never send my children to a school, Orthodox or otherwise.
Ive been at parishes where the behavior towards and around children was extremely seriously inappropriate.
That paraish did not embody the same sentiment towards the care and protection of children that you did at the beginning of the video.
Never would I allow unsupervised access.
Can AI systems help to provide some support for the science and math aspect of the curriculum in the schools that also provide spiritual guidance? Maybe technology can be used for good. Can you provide a list of good online accredited homeschooling programs?
It's been weaponized, it can be but it won't, avoid it until people return to a coherent worldview and that's never happening
Technology used for good? Impossible
AI for good? Impossible!!
❤ it’s extremely difficult, as a strong orthodox Christian I do my best ( in Australia) however where do take them ? My children are very interested in learning, they love the Patristic nectar app dedicated to children. I don’t know what / where to go ?
If you live in Melbourne, there are a few Orthodox schools including Oakleigh Grammar and St John’s Orthodox College
There is the St John of Kronstadt Academy in Brisbane, Australia's first accredited classical Orthodox school!
Goodhearted wishful thinking but it's not going to happen. I homeschooled my children on a farm for 18 years and in that time many many many families came to the farm and said we're going to leave the corrupt city and start a farm. I never saw anyone actually do it. And those very few who homeschooled often lost their children as young adults. The one is drowned in a sea of corruption and it appears most Americans are not radical enough. Soon many parishes will be without a priest because few are entering the priesthood. We're in for a rough ride ahead.
That`s nice. But, are there any job opportunities for Othodox theologians at those Orthodox schools?
I know at paideia classical academy where my children go, the chaplain, a priest, teaches law of God, patristics and faith. So yes theologians are always needed. Especially as the school grows the priest wouldn't be able to handle all those classes alone.
Absolutely! You should have them. Why not? It’s very easy, just start a homeschool style group in the Church or at someone’s home. No child should be exposed to government schools.
What kind of history books would be used? As we know now, the history we have been fed all these years have been lies at best! We would need to have an Orthodox curriculum! Our family has a co-op with 10 to 15 kids on our property every year but Id love to have solid curriculum to make it easier and not have to sift thru the crap thats out there!
I ask this in all sincerity, what do you believe would make for an excellent homeschool curriculum? I am currently a catachumen, and so am quite new to Orthodoxy. I homeschooled for over fifteen years and have been exposed to and used much curriculum. What would make it uniquely Orthodox?
You have to rely on the HS to guide you throughout HOMESCHOOL or small groups
@@SophiaK-vu2mw I have homeschooled for many years. It is a good question. Sometimes it is easier to use a secular curriculum that doesn't contain a lot of Protestant or Catholic theology embedded in the program. It depends on the subject. History is always a problem because most curriculum either completely ignore Orthodoxy or have very big errors. Story of the World, a very popular and pretty good series, calls St. Nicholas a "Turkish Christian". Oh dear. It isn't only wrong but shows the author has no idea about the region or the history of our church. I think government and literature can also be problematic.
An Orthodox curriculum would have to tell the truth about God, man and the world. Our understanding of what happened in the garden and on the Cross must be central. Also, and maybe more importantly, the teacher must be an Orthodox christian living the spiritual life, confessing, praying for the children, communing, etc.
Soooo....I'm in the USA. Private schools take $$$. Which candidate does the Orthodox Church endorse as our next President? Kamala Harris or Donald Trump?
Obviously Trump is a safer bet, but he won't do anything for the Orthodox church, just probably hurt it less than Kamala.
